I was flooded with submissions about this photographer duo – Brett Baughman and Jizelle Ashley – overnight.   A blog editor noticed something off with their work and decided to investigate and notify all photographers they could find that were stolen from.

Thanks again to all of those that have made donations and/or clicked on an ad to help support Photo Stealers!

Update 04/09/2013

Updated a few original sources that I had as unknown.  Added a few new images from his Product Portfolio that is on the website and across his various social media platforms.

Update 04/17/2013

Brett has hired a lawyer to send out multiple Cease and Desist letters to commenters and this website.

The people in question are claiming it was some random employee who posted all those stolen images, because of course. My question — do these people never look at their own Facebook pages and web sites? Because you’d think they would notice work which wasn’t theirs.

  • Joseph Philbert

Well they made a bullshit apology… quickly I might add……
    ————————————
IMPORTANT: This message is for any photographer whose work was incorrectly listed on my website. I thank you for your understanding and appreciate your professionalism in this manner. I woke up this morning to find a slew of emails regarding ‘stolen’ images. I agree with you and am not happy myself. I have contacted my team and addressed the issue immediately. The images have been removed. I did not nor would I authorize the use of ‘stolen’ images. I do appreciate your notification and hope that you will take the prompt response as my apology for this wrong doing. The individual responsible has already been let go; this will not happen again. I wish you all continued success and thank you for your understanding in this matter.

    • Justin Case

wheh! glad they cleared that up! all just a mistaken ‘team’ member.

      • MPR1776

They crack me up, I left him a link to the excuses that are useless in copyright infringement cases via the Photo Attorney’s website

      • Victor

We apologize again. Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked have been sacked.

    • Michael Goolsby

Isn’t it just ass-slappin hilarious when people create a photography business with their names, but when the crap hits the fan it’s always a “member of my team” who gets the blame?

Brett, why don’t publicize the name of this “team member”? If you were truly blameless, then why bear the brunt of the blame? This team member’s behavior warranted their dismissal, so why would it not warrant revealing in public?

Or…. you could just admit that you’re just trying to put out the fire as quickly as possible without getting your own guilty fingers burned.

      Team member my ass.

      • Joseph Philbert

By the way he deleted my comment … and I am sure he will removed all negative comments and leave to nicer ones.

    • Lindsay Kaye Arbach

they were quick to delete your link joseph

      • Joseph Philbert

YEP I noticed that … smh

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

I wonder how he’ll react when people start sending him bills for usage or lawsuits like a proper professional should.

  • Justin Case

You missed a couple of others I’ve been holding on to:
    http://www.fiverr.com/brettbaughman/help-you-lose-weight-and-get-6-pack-abs-guaranteed
    http://www.scoop.it/t/nlp-by-brett-baughman
    http://www.brettbaughman.com/

granted, the ‘lose-weight-and-get-6-pack-abs’ and his ‘life-coaching’ have little to do with photography, but that’s the point… who can trust someone who has so many varied companies to be really professional at any of them?

This is a new trend I’m seeing… designer/web-master/wedding planner/life coach…. and since I’ve got a camera, why not photographer too?

    • Michael Goolsby

And I suppose that their hired hand not only posted the stolen on the scoopit website, but also put their watermark on it, too?

By the way, if you’re having to discount your wedding photography 30% at this time of year, you might not be a real wedding photographer.

      • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

Or offer your 280$ boudoir on groupon for 80$ (so 40$ once groupon takes its cut).

    • http://twitter.com/anathema_b Anathema

Now, this is just a theory, but my guess is people who do this either, A.) Dont know what they want to do with their life, or B.) Are incredibly desperate for money.

      I lean more towards B.

  • Bradley L Carrott

That grovelling excuse for an appology is truly pathetic – as usual they blame someone else – and then have the bloody nerve to ask the people they stole from to be professional (good plan – professionals sue – right?)

    • Michael Goolsby

What constantly amazes me is how these idiots expect us to believe that a hired hand can do what they claim without them even noticing. In this case, we have not just one proprietor, but TWO. Two “award-winning” assholes who don’t even bother to look at their own website? Who don’t bother to pick out their own pictures for marketing?

Being such “awesome” photographers as they self-describe, they should have no trouble getting the wedding portion of their website filled with equally “awesome” wedding pictures they have actually taken themselves very quickly. My guess, though, is that they probably don’t have a great deal to put up. Hence putting up so many “awesome” wedding pictures taken by OTHER legitimately “awesome” photographers.

      • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

Exactly right? Even if an intern/consultant did do it, where is the review? where is the oversight? Do these people not bother inspecting the work they are paying these people to do?

        No, this is pure bull$hit.

      • Justin Case

Agreed. The number one sign that this is all hogwash is that his ‘weddings’ section has remained empty all day. It really looks to me like he was a moderately successful headshot shooter who wasn’t getting enough work, so he decided to pad his portfolio and ‘go big’ on the whole internet marketing thing.

But what the hell? All this big talk and more than a decade as a pro and NOTHING but a handful of headshots to show for it? Can’t really blame the ‘team’ for that now, can you?

  • Justin Case

from his Scoop.it listing: “If you want to look like Rockstar in your photos, you have to be shot by one!”

    • peaceetc

      *groan*

    • C Sab

Uh, no. If you wanna look like a Rockstar in your photos you have to be shot by someone that knows how to shoot. Someone needs to tell him that. lol

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

AH! So that makes him the Milly Vanilly of photography then? Faking it to stardom?

  • Justin Case

“Brett revolutionized the way Hollywood looked at actors when he began
introducing color digital photos into a black and white world. The rest
    is history!”
wow. just wow. So I guess he doesn’t really need all that wedding work anyway.

    • C Sab

XD Wow. It’s funny how many of these thieves are delusional narcissists.

    • MPR1776

That’s hilarious, didn’t the last photographer nabbed say something similar?

    • MPR1776

I just read the whole thing on his linked in page and it says been a photographer for 11 yrs, so am pretty sure I owned a digital camera back then, was a little kodak camera but was certainly digital.

I take it back, the kodak was in 2000 and it would have been a fuji I owned 11 yrs ago

  • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

    Let the investigation BEGIN!

    1- GROUPON RED FLAG!
    2- Website created on: 2014-02-08

COLOR ME SURPRISED … actually incorporated in Nevada … that doesn’t happen often on here.
Anyone checked his pinterest board? He has one called “My Photography”.

    https://www.pinterest.com/brettbaughman/my-photography/

  • MPR1776

Here this is funny, he’s ‘coached or developed’ these companies What on earth does that mean anyway?

From his client list on Pinterest http://www.pinterest.com/brettbaughman/client-list/

    • Joseph Philbert

I bet my remaining left nut he never worked for any of them

    • C Sab

This guy seems to claim himself an expert at a lot of things. He just posted a video or something about how he can help people get great abs- for only $5. Even though, you know he stole the info from one of the tons of videos you can watch for free on Youtube to get the same results.

      • C Sab

Funny, he deleted the comment I posted about this but none of the others from everyone else calling him out. Pretty much confirms I was right. lol

    • Joel A

Wow! I love how its only the Top of Top companies on that list. No mediocre companies for Bret, only the best!!!

    • Justin Case

OH COME ON! He can’t be serious!? That is some of the most delusional bullshit I have seen on here, and this place is full of full-on-crazy!
Now if they all got together and sued him for false association…

  • Daniel Fugaciu

And he deleted the whole thread. Report his page. Geez.

    • MPR1776

      That’s too bad…except I hadn’t refreshed my page so SCREENSHOTS…woot!

      • Joseph Philbert

“contacting the local media now you scumbag” CLASSIC!

      • Justin Case

OhhhOHHOhhh… screenshots please! Don’t make me beg!

    • peaceetc

I’m surprised the page itself is still up. Plenty of people are leaving comments and links. Even “rockstars” get their backsides slapped sometimes.

      • Justin Case

I’m quite surprised too. Anyone with this much internet presence should know better than to try to fight it on so many fronts.

Still, strangely enough Brett and Jizelle Photography Las Vegas does not yet link directly here when doing a google search… what are we doing wrong?

        • peaceetc

I don’t know. Brett and Jizelle Photography Las Vegas should go directly here, but I don’t even see this page on the first two pages of results. Google, you have failed me and now I’m sad.

    • Joseph Philbert

No its still there he just hide it from the public

      https://www.facebook.com/brettandjizelle/posts/860176154007839

  • Just a Girl

Hahaha some of the comments on the Facebook page are priceless!!!!!

  • MPR1776

This cracks me up too from his FB page: “Remember, Extraordinary is only a thought away!”
    – Brett Baughman

    My response is: Extraordinary
is also apparently only a ‘stolen’ picture away and you must be
magnificent by now considering how many images you’ve stolen from other
    photographers!

    • Joseph Philbert

Lol! He has not deleted it yet?

      • MPR1776

No it is still up there

  • MPR1776

Oh yeah, it gets better…his groupon image is really….

    • Justin Case

I got a bit stuck on that one… it may actually be his. It is one of several of the same girl, and the images are full-size, straight out of the camera uploads…
But click on those links! It’s for a ‘webcam girl’ who gets ‘off-line tips’ for her shows.

  • Big Ron

What’s really funny is that if you check his post on his FB page about his boudoir special, he actually created a FB person to “like” his Boudoir post. Here’s the one person who liked his boudoir post:
    https://www.facebook.com/carol.hemmlings/friends

    • MPR1776

I am so enjoying this particular thread on PS, this guy is hilarious in the lengths he’ll go through to pump himself up, what happened to all that programming he’s so certified to do, didn’t that work?

  • Big Ron

And the person who liked his $5 diet, again another fake FB profile (Ronny Heller) that only likes and shares Brett’s stuff. Hilarious! https://www.facebook.com/ronny.heller.980

    • peaceetc

So that’s at least two Facebook profiles, which clearly violates Facebook’s terms of service. This guy is full of win and awesome, isn’t he?

    • Melinda Potter

I feel sorry for Carol Hemmlings. She has no friends :(

    • BullShite

This is just a hunch…. but I have the feeling that if this guy was REALLY employed, he wouldn’t have time to make all of these fake profiles to “like” all of his bizzarre fantasies….oh sorry I mean “accomplishments”!

    • Wes Jones

If you look at the EXIF data for the Ronny Heller cover photo you see CopyrightNotice TBBC, Inc. Hmmmm…. could it be The Brett Baughman Companies???

  • Justin Case

Really looks like Brett’s been looking for some kind of validation all over the internet world… well he’s finally found the audience he deserves, although I doubt it’s the one he wanted.

  • Joel A

    Great…Another self important, narcissistic, d-bag…

  • TC

Ha, they have almost 6000 like but they were purchased. From 3/20-3/27 they got ~1k likes a day then back down to 0-3 a day after that.

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

      OMG!!!! That is awesome!

  • Michael Goolsby

Joel is right… an awful lot of narcissism here.

I can see why they resorted to stealing. Their Groupon ad sold only ONE package, of which they might get about $40 of revenue, and they even have to discount their Craigslist package by 1/3. If stealing ends up closing them down, at least it doesn’t look like there’s much actual business to be missed. (Although I do wonder how many of his “team members” will find themselves out of a job!!) Just more fantasies than actual real work going on here.

    • BullShite

Well clearly this business makes enough revenue to hire a team!

  • Joseph Philbert

He did not delete the “Apology Post” all he did was hide it from public view,… why?? I have no idea.

    https://www.facebook.com/brettandjizelle/posts/860176154007839

    • Joel A

      good find.

    • Justin Case

      Joseph, YOU are a rockstar!
      How did you do that?

      • Joseph Philbert

I usually save the link facebook creates for a post. just in-case a “thief” tried something like this…most casual users go and click on the link they see.

      • Joseph Philbert

        Crap he is deleting comments…..

  • Justin Case
    • Big Ron

On the “Feel the burn” comment and his training technique. I wonder if he’s on Performing Enhancing Drugs? Just sayin’…

      • MLee Kneer

        That would explain a lot.

  • Melinda Potter

Ok this guy, is funny. This has to be my all time favorite photostealers scammer so far. I have done nothing but giggle as I’m reading. Are you sure thses two aren’t realated somehow?
    https://www.facebook.com/ahmed.angel.5

    • Justin Case

Oh, My, God. I am in love. where the hell did you find this?

      • Melinda Potter

I don’t remember exactly, but it was some sort of top 20 list or something. He was listed as the world’s most Narcissistic person. lol I think he may have some competition now ;)

        • Justin Case

I think you’re right. Don’t want to post this directly, since it’s marked with © but here is the link to his competition:
          flickr.com /photos/30148597@N04/13431858463/sizes/c/

(just take out the space after flickr.com)

          • Melinda Potter

Darn it! Can’t get it to work. Maybe later when I’m at the computer. I have a feeling it’ll be worth the wait.

          • Joseph Philbert

            It’s gone :(

    • Joseph Philbert

      Wow …self love.

    • Justin Case

Note to all future Photo Stealers:

if you must be so pathetic as to steal someone else’s hard work, at least do it with style and be as entertaining as Brett Baughman.
The bar has officially been raised. You have been advised.

  • BullShite

Wow. I have never seen this level of blatant, see through self-delusion in my life. I mean, I am betting 100% this guy actually BELIEVES he is this great and important and that he’s done all of these things, because you really have to be pretty deep into a fantasy world to actually be stupid enough to come out into public and make claims like this.

Out of ALL of the photo stealers so far THIS is the guy I hope and pray that someone or several someones SUES. He NEEDS to be sued, simply for the arrogance…. I’m still just speechless over this!

    • Justin Case
      • BullShite

OMG is there ANYTHING that BRETT CAN NOT DO???

        • Justin Case

…and all for the low, low, Low price of $5!!!!

          Order NOW!

        • Joseph Philbert

          Fly like superman

          • Justin Case

            don’t be so sure:

          • doncalifornia

My biggest LOL of the day Justin

          • Joseph Philbert

            Super Powers…

      • Melinda Potter

Woe he’s magic! lmao ok I gotta go, but I’ll for sure come back later. Can’t wait to share this listing with people. Thank you PS, I know what you do is really important and should be taken seriously, but this dude makes it really difficult not to laugh. I’m so glad you shared :) and all you original artists that had your hard work stolen by Brett, I hope you get compensated, without much fuss at all. Good luck to you

    • Joel A

I Think we have found someone more into them self than Jasmine Star is.

      • C Sab

        It’s pretty close.

    • captain-confuzzled

Believes he’s great, nah, not this guy (hope you are not seeing the victory pose 3x sometimes Discus makes me nuts!!)

      • BullShite

OMG he wants people to think this is HIM???
The guy “DJ’s” Dingy bars in Vegas….. oh man, I am laughing my ass off….

  • http://twitter.com/anathema_b Anathema

After looking at his profile… how do these people always end up on the news talking about their success??

    • C Sab

Because the news doesn’t care about accuracy, or truth, just ratings.

  • peaceetc

uh ohs, I’ve been blocked from commenting on the Facebook page. I am heartbroken, but will recover in time. Maybe I’ll watch his videos to learn how to better myself.

    • Big Ron

      I’m disappointed. I haven’t been blocked yet. :-)

    • Joseph Philbert

Yea I got on his block list and he is deleting comments.

      • C Sab

        Just like every other coward.

  • Rick New

Only has one follower on twitter. Probably that Ronny Heller guy.

  • captain-confuzzled

I do believe I have found our shy boy on model mayhem http://www.modelmayhem.com/1494483

    • peaceetc

That can’t be him. His bio says he has ‘integrity.’ ;)

    • Justin Case

wow, ‘Brett Lear’ …good catch, you’ve got the skills, Captain.

    • doncalifornia

And so this is Jizelle: http://www.modelmayhem.com/1207592

  • captain-confuzzled

He says on Linked in that his original photography company was Brett Photography. I just can’t figure out, if it was so famous and changed the world of Hollywood headshots, why am I not finding a darn thing on that company so far.

  • Joseph Philbert
    • peaceetc

It’s a press release. That’s what that site is for.

      • Joseph Philbert

It is … It’s the entire article …and now 4 years later

    • MPR1776

Did you catch the ‘world renowned’ part at the top?

  • darren

He’s the love child of Tony Robbins and Derek Zoolander!

      It really is him

      • Joseph Philbert

        Omg my new wallpaper ..

      • Somebody

I just posted it to Fark. We’ll see what the Photoshoppers do to it.

      • MPR1776

LOL, I laughed so much I cried, that was just funny!

  • darren

This guy really is the poster child for the “Fake it until you make it” path to fame and riches.

  • Justin Case

This guy has a teflon-coated web presence – but slowly, Stop Stealing Photos Brett and Jizelle Photography of Las Vegas is moving up the google charts…

  • Just a Girl

Hahahaha! The comments on the Facebook about Ronnie are beyond funny! I busted out laughing and my co worker looked at me like i was crazy!!

    • Joseph Philbert

      Ronnie? I got to look

    • Justin Case

      please share, I can’t get back in…

    • captain-confuzzled

Looks like Ronnie knows how to steal photos too

      • BullShite

So he hired a Rockstar to photograph headshots for him, and doesn’t put them on his profile? Come on now Ronny Heller!

  • Justin Case

this truly is the well that will never run dry !

    http://www.brettbaughman.com/innovations/be-an-idiot-today
we could TRY to make this shit up, but it wouldn’t be as funny

    • Michael Goolsby

Brett is the type of person I refer to as the “professional self-promoter”. It is always amazing to me that they are ever taken seriously.

    • captain-confuzzled

      lololol too funny!

    • MPR1776

Do you think Will knows he’s being used to promote ole Brett? That might be serious infringement

      • MPR1776

You would really need to be stupid to do that

  • Bob23325

Ronny H. is a guy that hired Mr. Wonderful for head shots. Go to the Yelp link and look at the “10 other reviews that are not currently recommended”. They’ve stashed a bunch of one star ratings there so they’re still rockin a 2.5 rating.
The photo of the couple in front of the Rolls-Royce was shot in Norfolk, VA. I know Brett & Jizelle were not there… because that’s my RR and that is the son of the photographers that had their work stolen!

    • Justin Case

I think you mean the Ronnie H that Mr. Wonderful has willed into existence only to be able to rate his performance taking non-existant headshots…. https://www.facebook.com/ronny.heller.980?fref=ufi

      • Bob23325

        That wouldn’t surprise me either…

  • darren

It just goes to show yet again how far you can go in our society by being a world-class bullshitter. Have the right looks and be smooth and well spoken, and it almost doesn’t matter what you know or can do. You think you can get away with anything because most of the time, you can.

  • MLee Kneer

I just want to know how the hell all of these people manage to PAY someone to update their facebooks and on-line portfolios when they are getting weddings of Craigslist. OBVIOUSLY I am doing something seriously wrong!

  • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

I’ve left a few warnings on Brett Lears photos on MM warning him there’s a scammer out there taking advantage of people. You know, just in case Brett Lear looks for a photographer. ;)

  • Amanda Picone

Don’t forget to visit their super awesome youtube video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoO-CDtTFzo

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

    • Joseph Philbert

“Been in the industry for over a decade” guess copyright was not one of the things he learned.
“In order to look like a Rockstar in photos you have to be shot by one” CLASSIC!!!

    • Melinda Potter

lol one of the comments on one of his videos was made by “Cooter Fonda” lol. I get that the comments were made by fake profiles most likely created by Brett, but Cooter Fonda?!?! Yep, best Photostealers listing ever. So many little gems of funny

    • Melinda Potter

“Ok honey we’re going to make a video. Don’t worry, just let me do all the talking. I got this. You just sit there looking like a great trophy, while I use my dazzling charm, and amazing talents to hook people in”.
Sorry to break it to you Brett, you know that “it” factor you think just spills out of your pores… Well maybe others in your life weren’t up to telling you, but it isn’t there. Take it down a notch or two.

I’m so intrigued, it’s like a car wreck. I’m normally a little annoyed by some of the posters having a little too much fun and giggles at the listed stealers expense, but I’m just so… I don’t have the words. It’s just plain ridiculously funny

      • captain-confuzzled

“don’t worry, we’ll take thousands of photos of you”..nothing like a good spray and pray

      • Justin Case

I thought the same thing… when the hell is she going to get a word in? Just sitting there, doe-eyed – or more like deer in the headlights.
Seems she was a receptionist and ‘executive assistant’ before hooking up with Brett. In the Yelp ad she is referenced for her retouching skills, so my guess is Brett’s the driving force in all this. Hope she wises up.

      • Gary Pageau

        Don’t worry! They’re “awesome!”

Hunh … I’m the only comment left on his youtube video … might be because I just talked about how shitty the sounds was.

  • BullShite

Thing is, if you go places like LA and Vegas, these snakes are a dime a dozen. What happens is when they start out, they get one or two legit gigs, modeling, acting, SOMETHING. Maybe they are in a commercial or two, a magazine, or an “extra” in a huge movie. They get this idea in their heads at the time that “oh shit this is IT, I’m ready for the big time!”…… only to fizzle out after they don’t really have a better “IT” than the next guy or gal. So, bereft of any returned calls, they use what small knowledge they have of the industries, usually to bullshite and take advantage of other people looking to do the same thing….. but man, this guy takes the friggin’ cake and the icing too.

    • Michael Goolsby

I’m not a massive gear head or anything, but I did find his Facebook post a bit amusing where he shows a kit lens and talks about how he can’t wait to test out his new “brilliant” piece of glass. it just seems that someone who has been in the business since 2001 would be in a little less awe of a Nikon 55 to 200 5.6 kit lens. what the heck did he shoot with before that?

      • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

ROFL … I’m not one to bash the kit lens (ok so doesn;t compare to a nice L glass or Sigmas new Art lenses but still) but I would certainly not call that a “brilliant piece of glass”. The kit lenses are “functional” at best.

      • MPR1776

And it’s not even a good lens

      • doncalifornia

Did you notice on their Groupon page, for “Brands Used:” they answered “Nikon D5100 DSLR”

        • doncalifornia

And I’m not bashing anyone for using this decent crop frame pro-sumer Nikon camera – but this clown says he “revolutionized” how Hollywood looks at head shots and has been doing photography professionally for about 14 years. Total BS

          • C Sab

That’s narcissism for ya. He’ll smear his own turds across a board and claim he revolutionized painting.

          • Piemonade

Laughing so hard at this guy… that description is perfect! You nailed it.

        • Justin Case

that’s his signature style… the one that turned him into ‘the premiere choice for head shot

  • Melinda Potter

DON’T GIVE THEM ANY IDEAS!!!! :p

      • BullShite

Well, at least we could at the religious excuse to the bingo card for this one.

  • No-one important

So, basically he’s trying to create the impression of being a big deal. How, stolen images peppered around his various web sites and social media accounts. The idea, I guess, is to land big fish because OBVIOUSLY he’s a big deal. Look at his web presence.

I actually feel sorry for the dude. I’m no shrink but there has to be a term for this kind of self-regarding fantasy he’s trying to make real.

The think is, he’s a very fit fellow, and handsome enough I guess. There’s no reason he can’t be a model and focus all of his energies on that. He might be very successful if he stuck to it. Moreover, he clearly has some ability for work so why not open some sort of business?

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

      Apparently … he is: http://www.modelmayhem.com/1494483

      • C Sab

Pft, anyone can become a model these days. I know at least 3 people that have done it, and one of them isn’t even skinny.

        • BullShite

Not only that, anyone can make a Model Mayhem profile and say that they are a model. Just like anyone can publish a book on lulu and say they are a writer.

          • C Sab

Or anyone can make a facebook business page and say they’re a photographer. ;)

      • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

He’s certainly aware of things going on because he blocked me on MM after I made a couple of “innocent” comments on his photos. ;)

    • No-one important

Me again. A few months ago during the Adam Forgione kerfuffle where his lectures were ripped off, he was interviewed by Gary Fong. Fong points out at 26 minutes in that the selection of presenters at photography events needs to be based upon their work, not their social media presence:

      http://www.youtube . com/watch?v=V350sGbzorE

(Empty spaces inserted that you’ll need to remove)

    • C Sab

He’s basically trying to convince everyone he has skills/experience with pretty much every profession that would grant someone fame. And he fails at all of them.

      • No-one important

Very good point. He’s not after work he’s after status.

        • C Sab

Pretty much, he’s just looking to feed his oversized ego and look like a superstar. Gary Fong called him out on it as you’ll see in an above comment.

        • Bob23325

Didn’t he indicate “Public Figure” on his FB page?

    • Edward DeCroce

Con men are very good at making you feel sorry for them. I feel a lot sorrier for the brides, and grooms he’s duped as well as “life-coach” clients he’s disappointed. But a slick talker like that will always find a way out.

      • Justin Case

he hasn’t done any weddings, I would put money on it. he’s a headshot shooter, and it was probably a good fit. But his ego is obviously too big for such a small world.

  • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

Hummm … wonder if KTLA TV Channel 5 would be interested in doing a follow up interview to this interview.

  • MPR1776

Oh, he’s an Actor too, check it out http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1813089/bio

    • BullShite

So he voiced a character in a video game?? That counts as “acting”? Crap I have several friends who have voiced things… it is NOT worthy of an IMDB page! I wonder what the supposed Jimmy Kimmel thing was…. and on the street interview with an idiot?

      • peaceetc

There are a whole bunch of very talented people who are voice-over rockstars (in a good way). We know their voices, but we rarely know their names. This guy, though…not so much.

        • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

I was surprised to find out that Michael Rosenbaum (who played Lex Luther in smallville) did the ovice of the Flash or that Mark Hamill did pretty much every single voice over for the Jocker in the Batman animated series (such an awesome Jocker)! Patrick Stewart has done a buttload of voice over for games like Skyrim!

Voice acting isn’t a negative in my view. Voice acting can kill a game or movei or tv show just as much as a bad plot/writing.

          • BullShite

The thing is, it’s not too hard to get a gig or two doing voice acting. I dated someone who would do stuff like that on the side all the time. I have another friend who does stand-up comedy, and he does voice stuff.
There are certainly voice actors who have made it to the point where this is what they do, they have 100s of voices, made it an art even… that is IMDB worthy….. this guy is not. It’s often an “off the street job”……just remember Silent Hill 3. Wonderful franchise, much anticipated game…. most amateur voice acting I’ve ever heard.

          • Joseph Philbert

We’ll he likes to hear himself..

    • Justin Case

I really, really, REALLY wish he would take Mr. Fong up on his offer to do a video interview to tell his side of the story. Hard to believe anyone this self-absorbed and ego-driven would pass up any chance for a bigger audience.
I think watching him justify himself would be seriously enlightening… or at least it would provide more comic hijinks for us to explore on here.

  • Edward DeCroce

One of my photographs also showed up on Brette and Jizzlle site. They removed my watermark and added their own. Wow …and this guy is a life-coach??? Ha! I feel sorry for anyone who’s been duped by the fast-talking photo-stealing con team

    • Joel A

Wow, I am very sorry to hear this. Just putting this out there: “Copyright lawyers love it when people remove watermarks, it shows intent.”

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

FYI, his phone number on his website goes straight to google voicemail. Hmm, wonder how I know that. ;)

  • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

By the way Brett, I’ve written all the photographers you’ve worked with on MM, and pointed them to this link/site so they can see what a douche you are and one has already replied saying he’ll never work with you again and will spread the word to all his photog (and model) friends who you really are.
Ahhh, karma’s such a bitch sometimes.
    Oh, and up yours.

    • C Sab

lol He’s not gonna be so good-looking soon.

    • doncalifornia

Al, this is brilliant. Yeah woops. I’ll bet for a short while he thought maybe this would only affect his photography, which isn’t a real pursuit anyway. But oh yeah forgot that when you model, you have to work with PHOTOGRAPHERS, and oh yeah forgot that PHOTOGRAPHERS hate it when people steal the work of other PHOTOGRAPHERS. This is not going to end well for him.

  • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

Hahah awesome, I wrote a comment to one of the people that wrote a positive review on his Yelp listing with a link to this website and suggesting they distance themselves from Brett, and here’s the answer I got: “I’m sorry you’re such a bitter person. Your best course of action would be to spend time on something to better yourself, please seek assistance.”

Hahaha I’M the one that needs to better myself?? hahahah This is clearly a friend of his as she’s reviewed both of his Yelp ads.

    http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=zmEAs3-OZd8KCiM4nFX6rA

Too funny. I suggested to Hannah in my reply that she talk to her friend and suggest that he come completely clean and issue a true apology with an acknowledgement of what he did if he wants this to truly go away. We’ll see. I’ll post any response I get.

    • Justin Case

any guess why ‘Hannah’ … who was reviewing Brett’s ‘headshot’ … is using a cartoon bunny head for a photo?

      • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

No, what am I missing? Or is it a “Fatal Attraction” reference you’re making? ;)

        • Justin Case

well, if her headshots were so very 5-star, why not use one to represent yourself? Why use a silly bunny head?

          • Joel A

Its probably cause its just as real as our friend Ronny. You might have actually just talked to Bret or Jizelle.

      • BullShite

      • BobCoolTX

That is a great idea! Why can’t Photo Stealers just title each blog post with PHOTO THIEF: at the beginning. Wouldn’t that work?

    • http://twitter.com/anathema_b Anathema

      Oh. My. God.

    • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

I keep coming back to this.. too too funny. We can start using this for every “photographer” busted on this site. Simply change the words from Wedding to whatever they shoot. For example, CJ could have been “tada! you’re a photoshop guru!” ;)

  • Michael Goolsby

Once again, we see a fauxtographer who could have simply come forward, apologized, made amends, and move on, but instead insures that everything has to get far worse by issuing only a single lame excuse and then silence. This, along with this entry-level kit, and his professional “diversity”, plus not having any wedding photographs of his own, signal to me that he wasn’t really much of a photographer of any sort to begin with.

Many of the self-improvement pseudo-strategies employed and taught by characters such as this involve such concepts as “if you believe it you can do it”, and “nothing sells as successfully as success”. This in evident in his constant (and nauseating) “we are awesome”-type comments. Considering how few followers they have on either Twitter or Facebook, it unlikely that very many have bought into his “I’m so great and you can be like me” sales pitch. But there’s little doubt in me that Brett has drunk plenty of his own Kool-aid and loves the taste. Those ridiculous photos of him (thank you, Jason, for posting one of the best) don’t just happen by accident!

I’m not that worried about Brett and Jizelle’s clients because, frankly, I just don’t think there were very many… and I very much doubt there will be in the future.

  • MLee Kneer

Soooooo, where is Jizelle in all of this?
Seeing how Brett has a few names is that her real name? Who the hell names their kid Jizelle anyway?

    • Justin Case

I picture Jizelle madly cleaning up all of this mess on the computer while Brett slowly rocks back and forth in the corner with headphones on listening to one of his own $5 hypno tapes reapeating “it’s almost over, it’s almost over, it’s almost over…”

    • Joel A

  • Steven Joseph

I just received this threatening email from Brett Baughman. He’s threatening to sue me.

    Steven,

I made myself clear yesterday and I immediately handled the situation.

If you or other photographers choose to believe that I had ill-intent; so be it.

I was professional and prompt in making sure the situation was handled and that the pictures were removed asap

In addition, I have spoken to the person responsible for this action and they have been properly handled.

You and your group of friends have continued from the start to point blame, never even allowing for the benefit of the doubt.

Which is very amusing to me since anyone who knows me or knows my actions would quickly see the truth.

But furthermore, if you continue further with your push to defame my name and do not remove any further information regarding me

And my company – and the website you posted, you will be receiving paperwork from my attorney for: Liable damages, harassment and bullying

    And slander.

The email you just sent me is enough to come after you for attacking my name and hurting my business.

“Until you publicly confess and apologize I will devote time every week to advertising that you steal photographs from real photographers and claim their work as your own. I’ll make my first blog post about you today referring my traffic to the StopStealingPhotos expose. Google “Las Vegas wedding photographers” and you’ll see that I’m usually on page one. Until you confess I will use my strong SEO to draw lots of attention to your thieving fauxtographer ways. “Rockstar” my ass.”

My attorney has reviewed your statement and has advised me that we are good to move forward with a suit against you if I so choose.

I will check all my social media and any information online by Thursday afternoon and if I see anything, I will move forward.

    • MPR1776

Methinks someone needs a new Attorney, one that actually understands Copyright Law and what slander and libel mean, which is to say it’s only slander or libel if it isn’t the truth and since we have proof that it is the truth…

      • Justin Case

HOW DARE YOU! Are you really questioning the qualifications of Ronny Heller, Esquire, Attorney at Low?

        • MPR1776

Absolute baloney. Attorneys do not tell their clients to go and communicate with potential legal defendants. They tell you to let them do their job and make the communication (if any) themselves.

Why or why do are many fauxtographers positively lousy at making fake legal threats?

      • MPR1776

Wild guess — cause they are lousy at everything, hence the stealing of others works?

      • Justin Case

Laziness. Unoriginality. The same qualities of delusion that allow them to think that erasing comments on Facebook will make all this disappear.

Really seems like someone who spends so much time massaging his online presence would realize it’s not so easy to delete google search results.

    • Justin Case

Thanks for posting all that, Steven. Kinda surprised he didn’t threaten copyright infringement if you posted it! Maybe you should add it to your blog as well.

    • peaceetc

You’d think if he’d really talked with a lawyer he would know it would be libel and not slander. The people who get outed here never seem to know the difference.

Good for you for not backing down and for posting on your blog.

      • Big Ron

peaceetc, you need to check the email. It’s “liable” (sic), not “libel”. :-)

        • peaceetc

Sorry. I’m libel to spell that wrong. ;)

    • BullShite

Dude, if you sue this ass, PLEASE blog the process. We could really use a good link or two to send stealers to when they think no one is going to care what they have done. This smug bastard deserves a good lawsuit to teach him a thing or two.

      • Steven Joseph

He didn’t steal any of my images so I don’t think I would have any standing to sue. But I am very interested in helping welcome this new wedding photography venture to Las Vegas with full disclosure. So I will continue to use my Google Page 1 blog to promote his name.

    • Joseph Philbert

Dam time for me to send him a email also … So I can add another “I will sue” email to the list

    • Big Ron

Steven, you seriously need to run and hide from this guy. Or maybe not. My money says even his lawyer is a fake.

      • Steven Joseph

Who are you Ron, and why do you say that I need to run and hide?

        • Joseph Philbert

          Sarcasm ..lol

          • Big Ron

Yep, sarcasm. Sorry, forgot to add a smile at the end.

    • Photo Stealers

He still has stolen images up and all over his online presence.

      • http://brettandjizellephotography.com/ Brett Baughman

It isn’t my fault! My “team” is to blame.

        • Grundibular

The other one. Pull it. A bell hangs there.

          • http://stopstealingphotos.com/brett-jizelle-photography-las-vegas-nevada/ Brett Baughman

You need to be more specific, there are so many “other ones”. I am omnipresent these days. It must be the powers of my success! I LOVE ME!

    • doncalifornia

BRETT: The law is very specific. If an employee or intern commits copyright infringement, the company they work for is just as liable as if the principal of that company did it himself/herself. There is no free pass connected to your excuse that some nameless idiot in your company committed dozens of fraudulent uploads and used other photographers’ images in your ads, blogs, websites, etc. Instead of throwing around threats you should just step back, take a deep breath, ACCEPT that you’ve been caught, and get to work making it right. Life Coach.

  • Steven Joseph

BTW, I’ve made good on my promise to help advertise Brett Baughman as an unrepentant photo stealer.

    http://www.stevenjosephphotography.com/las-vegas-photographers-brett-jizelle-steal-photos/

    • http://brettandjizellephotography.com/ Brett Baughman

Thank you for increasing my popularity! Maybe I can book something mmore than just my own mugshot!

  • MPR1776

I had a few links sent to him to help him better understand copyright laws and how excuses for doing wrong matter not in the grand scheme of things.

    • Joseph Philbert

Good lick be he will not listen

    • BullShite

OOOOH I bet he has one of those really scary entertainment lawyers! Look out everyone! If he can afford a “team” to miscommunicate to that posts stolen photos, he can hire a snap attorney! One that thinks that you actually have to register a copyright in order to have a copyright!

    • Joseph Philbert

Wait who did he threaten to sue ?

      • MPR1776

        Steven Joseph mostly

        • doncalifornia

I didn’t see any of that, where is it? I must read.

          • MPR1776

Stephen Joseph posted it on here just below this post — 4th post below

  • CrackerJacker

OK, I’m late to the party — why is there a photo of that derailed train at O’Hare in Chicago and a “stoner dog” in their Boudoir and Modelling portfolio?

    http://brettandjizellephotography.com/?page_id=34

    • MPR1776

Why because the ‘Rockstar’ once rode that train, of course

    • Photo Stealers

I didn’t list those because he technically gave credit, it was just buried.

      • CrackerJacker

I was just wondering if we knew WHY they were there — unless there’s a chick in a thong and then that stupid train got in the way! ;)

    • Glenn Bruce

Because they have removed all the stolen stuff, and just left – er, well bugger all!

  • Big Ron

So I’ve got a question. He said he did actor’s headshots in L.A. and on his flickr page, he has a few headshots, not a lot. But the exif data show these are from 2003 and shot with an Olympus E-10. I’m just in a little disbelief that he owned an E-10. Only a serious pro would own an E-10 in 2003. If these are his shots, then I have to believe he had a roommate who was a photographer who owned an E-10. If he really owned one, then you would think he would have used it a lot, whether they were paying jobs or not, and he would have tons of headshots — esp given that he redefined how headshots were taken in L.A. Here’s a link to a headshot:
    https://www.flickr.com/photos/30148597@N04/13431752265/

    • Joseph Philbert

      Yes that is interesting …

      • Big Ron

When you revolutionize the concept of head shots, and everyone in L.A. wants you to take their picture, then you have to bring your price down. Umm, right??? Or maybe… ??? :-)

        • captain-confuzzled

Not to mention you became the “premiere choice for head shot photography” within 30 days of starting and worked with 22 agencies! Clearly your prices would need to go down.

          • doncalifornia

            Such BS

          • Joseph Philbert

Hmmmm I might be wrong but color photos were the shit 20 years prior smh

    • Joseph Philbert

Other thing does he still shoot with Olympus the owners are usually brand loyal and never switch..

      • captain-confuzzled

Weren’t they talking about their new Nikon? can’t remember for sure.

        • Justin Case

yes, his ‘boudoir’ images were taken with a Nikon D5100 and 55-200

          • Big Ron

See. How does one go from an Olympus E-10 in 2003 to a Nikon D5100 and kit lens in 2014? Especially when you’re a Rock Star photographer?!!!

          • MPR1776

Rockstars don’t need a real camera, dontcha know, see Jason Marino’s comment ‘Tada, You’re a Photographer’

          • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

As Cory Ann says, it could be a rental from a time he rented a studio plus kit. Might have been a one-off. Not to defend the guy, but there are legitimate reasons he used an E-10 back then. Would also explain why he hasn’t done jack shit since.
The owner of the studio probably helped him set up and do the settings etc etc..

          • Joseph Philbert

yea 99% of his work is all in 2003/2004then skip all the way to 2014 with a Nikon … and stolen images as filler,,, smh

          • Joel A

Could it be the camera date was incorrect also?

          • Joseph Philbert

That would fly EXCEPT the dates when it says it was edited by Photoshop, Portrait professional, etc coincide in or around when the images were created.
Most people have the right time on their computer (and windows XP and up syncs its time on the internet) and would not have both the camera synced and computer with the wrong date :)

          • Joel A

            “The More You Know!” :)

          • Joseph Philbert

Yea all lies … It has to be a borrowed camera or stolen images..

        • doncalifornia

Yes they listed their gear as a Nikon D5100. There is no way he actually owned an Olympus E-10. Also, there is zero evidence that he had any attention in Hollywood for his headshots in 2001 or 2002 or that studios began hiring him for commercial work and fashion photography. Where is ANY of the imagery from this fabulous career? It doesn’t exist because he is making it all up. My two cents.

      • Glenn Bruce

He lists a D5100 as his primary kit (a nice camera – but not the stuff of ‘Rockstar’ photographers :)

        • Joseph Philbert

Yea the guy has to many and lies that just don’t add up.
The headshots are looking more and more like someone’s else work or maybe it was from kinda school or training. What kind of photographer has almost a 7 year gap in the work they display…

    • Photo Stealers

Maybe it’s a rental that came with a studio fee? I know a lot of places will rent studio space w/ gear for a nominal fee.

    • peaceetc

I wonder why he would post photos from eleven years ago, but nothing more recent. That seems odd.

      • Justin Case

seriously? With all those $5 hypnosis mp3s and weightloss courses, who has time to take NEW pictures?
My guess is his next claim will be that all his hollywood clients were such big names, he can’t use them in his advertising… unlike all the corporate logos he’s used on his pinterest for his other snake-oil business.

      • Joseph Philbert

Cause he does not have any recent stuff

    • captain-confuzzled

Sorry, I know it’s not relevant, but all I can see in these shots is that Jizelle needs a haircut!

    • Glenn Bruce

Well if he had an E-10 in 2003 then his fortunes are not great – as he now boasts about shooting with a Nikon D5100!! – don’t get me wrong – a lovely camera, I have one – but not what I’d expect a ‘Rockstar’ photographer’ to turn up with if I hired him.

This guy is so egotistical he is scary! And that makes me wonder if he is just crazy enough to think he’s invincible and have some shyster on retainer! He also reminds me of Kevin Trudeau and we all know he recently had to stick up on soap on the rope!

    • Justin Case

No way he has a real lawyer. A two-bit hustler that sells himself for $5 a pop? Mr. Wonderful has redefined the term ‘empty suit’ for me.

But he is fun… just waiting for him to show up here to spice things up.

    • C Sab

Even if he dd have a lawyer, he can’t do jack shit. If he even tried to sue any of us for anything we just link this page and his whole lawsuit goes up in flames instantly.

None of these thieves have ever had the guts to back up any of their threats. Even the biggest ones that were actually known in the industry. That’s cause they’re all talk, and they know they’ll lose.

  • BullShite

So what’s up with Jizelle? Any word out of her on this?

    • Justin Case

did you see the video? I don’t think Brett lets her speak much.

according to their advertising, ‘Jizelle has a natural ability with graphics & computer programming’ so my guess is she’s the one actually doing the deleting. Maybe she’s the ‘team member’ who has ‘been handled’

      • BullShite

I did, I was just wondering if she had made any comments, given her name is being pulled into this…. though if you know your… partner?….. is being fraudulent and you do nothing, you deserve it.

        • doncalifornia

don’t absolutely quote me on it, because I thought I saw it last night on one of jizelle’s pages – but can not find it now – she posted as of April 3 she was engaged.

          • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

One of her FB pages (can’t remember which) said “In a relationship with Brett”, but can’t rmemeber whether engaged. RUN GIRL RUN!

  • amazed

Now that he removed all the stolen pictures he has nothing left to show. Does he realize think people would believe an employee did it and that he never looked at his own website?
He loves himself too much to let someone else do anything. he is the greatest, or so he thinks!

Interesting. And you’ll notice all the reviews were written within days of each other, and are glowingly positive. Most (but not all) of the reviewers have only written the one review, too.

      • http://brettandjizellephotography.com/ Brett Baughman

Yes, you will see that pattern across all my social media accounts.

  • Joseph Philbert

Anyone notice ALL his head-shot images are out of focus… Quite a revolution.

    • MPR1776

No but now I have to go look

    • peaceetc

Check the EXIF data — all of them seem to be set to aperture priority, most appear to be at f/2.2, and at least two of them are at 1/60, another at 1/80. There’s also one at f/4.6 and 1/30.

      • Joseph Philbert

Trust me we on the same page ….I checked several images also. Its very strange.

        • peaceetc

Sorry, I could have worded it better. My putting that info there was meant more for posterity than anything. I figured you had looked.

    • Justin Case

actually, I think his headshots are fine, I’ve seen a lot worse. I think that Olympus lens is just soft wide-open.

What is more telling is that he lived in LA – world capital of vain wannabes – for a decade and he couldn’t make a go of it as a pro headshot photographer there.

  • MPR1776

    Nevermind, eyes wrong color

  • Melinda Potter

Yep, my favorite photo stealer post ever. WOW! law suits and all sorts of good stuff to come back and read about. Glad I checked in again today :) I know I know… I’ve already had too many laughs and too much fun, but did anyone else notice that one of the fake profiles he made up for his Facebook commented on one of his videos “Man! I wish my husband looked like that”. I don’t know it just cracks me up to think of him logging in to his Carol Hemmlings account and saying that about himself. I mean it’s not one of those fake profiles that gets paid to like stuff and comment on stuff. There’s absolutely no activity at all except on his Facebook page. It’s him commenting on himself right?

    • Joel A

Yup, either him or Jizelle…either way its pretty creepy and narcissistic. Fake accounts have always bothered me. Wait, does this mean he is Catfishing himself!?

In 1999, Lear moved to Hollywood, California and spent the
last decade working in the entertainment industry and traveling as a

This is the sort of thing that I, as an American, living overseas have to discuss all the time with non-Americans. They wonder how we’re able to up-sell ourselves so easily…often (as like with Brett Baughman) without merit! I never know really what to say haha. I argue that it’s “confidence gone crazy”

I just wished that when we type in “Brett Boughman” this site comes up on first page. So far (hopefully it’ll change) it’s buried on the 2nd page.

Looks like our boy Brett Baughman wasn’t very successful at marriage. Ouch, I wonder if Jizelle is what broke them up?
    May I encourage more reviews?

    • Michael Goolsby

      Nice work.

I recently read a study of TV financial experts that showed that, when it came to predicting for investments, the aggregate rate of accuracy was actually just slight lower than the statistical output of simply flipping a coin.

There’s a lot of money to be made in the “success” business because people in general want quick results with little effort. Because of this, people WANT to believe when someone like Brett tells them that he has all the answers… for a price. But Brett’s “answers” are likely no more valuable that flipping that coin. They just look better in an $800 suit.

      • Renato Lucena

Did you notice that all the “reviews” for his book are a few days apart? and that those reviews are from people that only did this ONE review? ever?

    • Justin Case

He and his wife had a company in California called Tri-Star Emipire, LLC

The company opened in 2007 but has been ‘cancelled.’ I can find almost nothing about what they did.

      • Me

There’s no shame in that. Most start ups fail or get sold in under half a dozen years.

        • Justin Case

no, right no shame in having a company or a marriage fail. I’ve just been trying to figure out how a guy with an eponymous business ‘empire’ was spending all that time. Obviously not living off his photography, since he has so little to show for ‘more than a decade’ in the business.

Crazy amount of threads to unravel with this guy. Just my own curiousity, really. And lots of time on my hands while printing these days.

And actually, I have to say compared to most of the other photo stealers with this kind of presence, he doesn’t seem to have a criminal record or huge list of dissatisfied customers… most likely because he didn’t have many in the first place.

For all the world he just seems to me like a delusional guy who keeps letting the dreams get away from him, and this time he tried to con the wrong audience.

          • Me

I’m inclined to agree. I think he’s more to be pitied than censured. If he’s reading this, my strong and honestly-meant advice is to become a foot soldier in sales. He might be quite good at it but his ego and compulsion for admiration and status needs to be crimped.

      • Michael Goolsby

        Amazing research Justin!

  • Michael Goolsby

Just when we think we’ve seen it all, along comes Brett Baughman, Master Self-Promoter. As a fauxtographer, he’s not even close to being the worst offender. That honor may possibly go to recently-outed MD Photography, who works with photo theft the way a painter work with oil. And as a the ultimate denier and outright liar, who could possibly approach current comment king and all-round d-bagger Christopher Jones aka Christoper Ryan aka Ryan Cristoph? But as an egotist and narcissist — to the point where it’s really, really creepy — I believe that Brett Baughman takes a new crown.

Honestly, all those self-promo photos just send a chill down my spine, evoking images of Vegas shtick magician Burt Wonderstone played by Steve Carell, or Patrick Swayze’s motivational speaker in Donnie Darko, or Tom Cruise as Tom Cruise in just about anything.

We’ve seen people who want to be photographers, and fauxtographers who want to be successful, but I don’t think we’ve seen anyone who is such a no one trying to be everything. Model, photographer, trainer, author, life-coach, business mogel… what’s next, gentleman spy with a license to kill?

As unique as Brett is to this hallowed halls, he is also typical, fulfilling the pattern that we have observed endless: photo stealers invariably demonstrate fraudulent or bizarre behavior in other aspects of their lives outside of just the photographic. In fact, if Brett were known to us only for his fauxtographic skills, he likely would be boring and easily passed by. But with such a bizarre, self-promoting online presence, we find ourselves like a crowd passing a train wreck, unable to look away. I don’t know how much further Brett’s train has to go. Already, it has exceeded my expectations. But it certainly has been an interesting — if disturbing — ride.

    • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

      Well said (as always!) Michael.

However, this line stole the show: “or Tom Cruise as Tom Cruise in just about anything.”

      • Michael Goolsby

Thanks Al! As a researcher, my skills can’t even come close to all the great stuff that you, Corey Ann, Justin, Don or Joe produce (those memes you made are fabulous!), but the minds and personalities of these people genuinely fascinate me and provoke a great deal of thought into what motivates them.

Tom Cruise originally came to mind as his character in Magnolia. But then I remembered that bizarre video of him that surfaced where he sits and rants about Scientology, and I realized that he really just plays himself in every single role he’s in.

Let’s face it… we’re all motivated around here to expose photo stealers as part of a broader effort to put an end to it. But it’s the truly bizarre people — like Brett here — that keep us refreshing our web pages!

        • Justin Case

Couldn’t agree more… in fact, I really wouldn’t be surprised to find out Brett was a scientologist as well. I was thinking as much when I saw that nearly all the reviewers of his ‘life-coaching’ on one of the sites were other ‘life-coach/self-help guru/snake-oil salesmen.’

        • Melinda Potter

I loved him as Lastat in Interveiw with a Vampire. To me it’s the one time he actually acted. Could be because the writer of the books freaked out and wanted to back out of the contract as soon as she heard Tom Cruise would be playing the part. He probably had to hire a coach and a whole team to get him through it.

          • Joel A

I heard he had to walk on a elevated floor around Brad Pitt cause he is so short…don’t know if its true, but its hilarious.

The Photo Stealers website could be used in Psychology classrooms everywhere. The Psychology of a thief / narcissist / liar whatever, just pick your poison.

          • Michael Goolsby

Absolutely, Joel. I do not believe it an accident at all that there is usually a lot more behind a photo stealer than just stealing. Though they differ in some ways, they also share a common psychological characteristic, like different blends of coffees.

I normally stay quiet on Facebook, so I don’t get blocked and can keep reading / updating here. I am like reconnaissance. :)

  • No-One Important

His photography work is listed on his Linked In Profile among other things. His resume is revealing: impressive titles and lots of descriptions but no actual deliverables. Besides, anyone who lists vice president and fails to mention supervisory duties or what the impact of his executive tenure was, translates into “start up”.

(Remove the space before the com to make the link active.)
    http://www.linkedin. com/in/brettbaughman

    • MPR1776

I did notice that all his entries amount to little to nothing, not one position had 2 yrs or more on it, Jizelle’s same thing.

      • Joel A

So in other words, they really like their Frosted FLAKES.

    • Me

His skill set in his Linked In profile has all sorts of strategy crap mentioned. Really — REALLY?

He also lists system architecture as skill. Look, this is a very specific skill in computer science. That he lists it and has no other software development skills means he doesn’t understand what the term means. “It Advisory” means what exactly? He’s got no software or tech experience on his resume.

He also inludes “Call Center Development” and “Call Center Architecture” which probably means that he worked at a help desk once — honourable work to be certain and vital if you’re caller needing help — but that’s not the same thing as setting up the queue, sorry.

      • captain-confuzzled

Clearly “It Advisory” means “it” Advisory, it sure doesn’t mean I.T. (as you point out so well). System architecture…bwahahahaha, now that’s funny!!! I imagine all he’s qualified in that realm to do is help Cousin IT find his way through the architecture of the Addams family mansion. (ack showing my age)

    • Roger Wilco

He has “Brett Baughman Companies, Inc.” listed as his business name, yet a search of registered business names yields nothing matching that. He also has many titles pertaining to “coaching”. Fake business + fake title = a man who is mostly likely a bum mooching off of others and living in his mother’s basement.

      • Roger Wilco

Did a little more digging. On his Linkedin profile he says he received a Bachelor’s degree from something called “Ilini Bluffs!” from attending between 1990 and 1994. A search for the school returns only results for a grade school with that name and an Intelius search shows that he is only 37 years old, which means he would have attended “college” at the age of 13 and received a four year degree by 17. A “BS” degree indeed.

        • doncalifornia

On the other hand, Illini Bluffs is a High School. For college he lists Illinois State University. It looks like he listed his degree info under his High School accidentally, instead of his college. Illinois State has a Cognitive Psychology degree with a Psycholinguistics component.

          • Roger Wilco

I consider high school to be a part of grade school. And why would somebody list that on their CV? Generally you would only list higher education and work experience.

          • Justin Case

Do you mean higher education such as the ‘Tad James Company’ http://www.nlpcoaching.com/

(He claims on his blog that his wife was getting her master’s degree from this place, but he is very vague, referring to himself as ‘Master Practitioner & Trainer’ or more specifically ‘NLP Master Coach #N60124′ )

      • Justin Case

His companies show up on lots of listings. More revealing is his team:

  • Bob23325

This guy is a riot! Last week I could not spell “hypnotherapist”… now I are one!.

    Sorry… saved the photo twice.

So basically this website steals other people’s work as a ‘public service’ but it’s really just an ad. Uh ok thanks.

    • Justin Case

not sure I understand… where is the ‘public service’ claim from?

      • Melinda Potter

I think, this is only a guess (based on the fact that Hard Little Machine has never posted here before AND the name sounds like one that Brett might give himself for use on online forums)… but I think Hard Little Machine is trying to point out that the photo stealers blog steals pictures to use as a public service, and since there are ads on the blog, it’s just a big advertisement. I could be WAY off though. It’s just my take on what the OP was trying to say, but failed at getting across

What?! Why not highlight the photographers whose beautiful work is being used to fraudulently gain business and financial gain for charlatans who can’t achieve close to the same effect? I think the photographers whose pictures have been stolen are more than deserving some extra traffic and revenue from this site as a result of the thieves who stole their work, and the thieves deserve all the shame they get!

    • doncalifornia

Ridiculous. This website puts up screen-captures of thievery and copyright infringement in order to shame the jerks into quitting their fraud and slinking away. You’re welcome.

    • Joseph Philbert

This website steals nothing .. It’s not for commercial purposes more do they ever claim or pretend to be a bad ass photographer .. They highlight those who steal…and the REAL copyright owners welcome it..

      • peaceetc

Yup. And the person behind this site is a real bad ass photographer who has the skills and knowledge to put these wannabes to shame, and has no need to steal others’ work.

      • Joseph Philbert

Looks like he picked up the D5100 kit with the 70-300mm. “Hey look at me! I bought the Costco special now I can be a PRO!”. Not to say that you can’t take good pics with a 5100. I’ve seen some pretty amazing shots with it.

    • Joseph Philbert

Here is the thing no self respecting photographer with over a decade of shooting would ever buy a entry level DSLR with a kit lens…and this is not about buying the most expense. Thing .. It’s about having the experience, expertise and knowledge about purchasing the appropriate gear suitable for pro work..

      • Inquisitor_Cortez

I absolutely agree! You’d think someone with the experience that he purports to have would have a more robust camera!

        • Justin Case

From 2003-2005 his posted headshots were all done with an Olympus E-10. They were originally edited on Aperture or Photoshop, but for his website they have been run through Portrait Professional v11 (which was released in Nov 2012). They mostly look to me like they were all either taken in a home studio or against a white backdrop, all with available light, so I seriously doubt they were taken in a rental studio.

With the exception of the fact that all of them are in sRGB colorspace, this seems like a perfectly acceptable workflow for a headhsot photographer working in a place like LA or Las Vegas where there is plenty of lovely daylight.

Did he ever own a professional grade camera? Maybe he had lots of cash to throw around back in 2003. Or he borrowed it from a friend. Or hell, maybe he found it at the gym… really, who knows or cares?

What really matters is that his posted photos look NOTHING like the images he used to represent his wedding or editorial work, and he doesn’t seem to know how to light or use strobes, so what is he going to do if you hire him for a wedding and it rains? Or if the ceremony is in a location without good available light?

I often wonder if people ask their plumber what brand wrench he’s planning to use or what how many bar their mechanics’ air compressor is. Being a professional means having the equipment to get the job done. What KIND of equipment or BRAND is totally irrelevant.

          • Joseph Philbert

I am leaning towards 2003 to 2005 as not being even his work. I think he stole it years ago and the original copyright owner never posted online …. That is my theory … Why because nothing matches

          • Inquisitor_Cortez

I kind of like the headshots…but that desert shoot was godawful.

          • Justin Case

hadn’t really given it that much thought. But I do wonder… since his ‘self portraits’ seem to have his signature style, who took those? It’s not easy to have such shallow focus without looking through the camera… have to check out the metadata on those images.

          • Joseph Philbert

That’s it … We are on the same page ….

  • Alex Tardif

Just came across this link and what an entertaining read! I was curious so checked out his webpage (what a waste of my 10 min of time). What I found striking is his list of clients from his other “business ventures”… holly shit, really? While I’m not a legal expert, I do know a thing or two about NDA’s and using customer’s names to promote your own web presence… something tells me there’s no way in hell this scam artist could get approval to list (what essentially amounts to every top company in the world across virtually every industry) as his “clients”. • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

I do have a few questions for you.
1- You say that a team member messed up but as the president or CEO or whatever your title is for the company, don’t you approve or sign off on any marketing materials that get sent out? I’m not talking about Facebook but things like Groupon and Craigslist?

2- You have claimed multiple times that you have cleaned up all the STOLEN (not misslisted as oyu claim) images but Craigslist still has stolen images up.
          source: https://lasvegas.craigslist.org/evs/4403940912.html

3- If you have plenty of images you;ve shot yourself (seeing how you claim you’ve been in the biz for so long) why is your portfolio still empty after all this?

4- Do you understand that even after removing the images, your are still liable for the infringement? Removal of the content doesn’t exonerate you from the infringement … the judge will take that into consideration when assigning damages but you are still possibly on the hook for several hundred thousands dollars worth of damages (up to 150000$ per image + 2500$ to 25000$ per watermark removed).

5- You used the word “mislisted” in your “apology” but the images were not just “listed” on your site like a Google Search entry. They were COPIED to your site and in some cases watermarks were removed and yours added! Do you actually understand the ramifications of this?

The funny things you find on the internet…

  • http://stopstealingphotos.com/brett-jizelle-photography-las-vegas-nevada/ Brett Baughman

    Meet my brother!

  • Steven Joseph

Calling all photographers, especially those with STRONG SEO.

It’s pretty clear that this sociopathic petty thief has no intention of apologizing or behaving honorably. All of his websites are still up and active. Any comments left by us are deleted. Hey may or may not be the psycho leaving taunting disturbing comments here recently. He clearly intends to go on as though nothing’s happened. He intends to continue defrauding people unaware that he is a fake photographer. In this way he hurts every one of us who have worked hard to develop our photography skills and reputations and web presence. Since he will not admit to his dishonorable tactics, I think it’s up to us to actively draw as much attention to his pariah status as possible.

SO, I am asking everyone reading this thread to create blog entries, create Facebook posts, create Google+ posts, create Twitter posts that point back here and are loaded up with all of his identifying information (“Brett and Jizelle”, “Brett and Jizelle Las Vegas”, “Brett and Jizelle Photography”, “Brett Baughman”, etc.)

This way we bring truth to his Google SEO status.

Currently (depending upon where you are) we control two or three positions on page one for “Brett and Jizelle” and variations of that phrase. My goal is that we control them all. Push him to Page nothing, where frauds and liars belong.

If you’ve no time or you’re uncomfortable creating your own blog post please feel free to copy mine as a template. http://www.stevenjosephphotography.com/las-vegas-photographers-brett-jizelle-steal-photos/

Remember, Google likes it when your Title, your internal URL, and your first paragraph of text all have the same keywords you’re cultivating.

Or make your own from scratch. But please everybody do some remedial SEO for our photo-stealing unrepentant fauxtographer friend Brett Baughman, over the next several days.

    Thank you.

    • Joseph Philbert

Yea I will create a blog about it

“Clients include Jesus Christ, God, Muhammad, and other high profile people who wish to remain invisible.Take a look at the reviews currently not recommended. Strange how the positive ones have no friends.”

      • MPR1776

Does not matter, cause it’s using his name…Per the guidelines Conflicts of interest: Your contributions should be
unbiased and objective. For example, you shouldn’t write reviews of your
own business or employer, your friends’ or relatives’ business, your
peers or competitors in your industry, or businesses in your networking
group. Business owners should not ask customers to write reviews.

        • peaceetc

That’s fine. I was just pointing out it wasn’t really him.

      • MPR1776

And Promotional content: Unless you’re using your Business
Owners Account to add content to your business’s profile page, we
generally frown upon promotional content. Let’s keep the site useful for
consumers and not overrun with commercial noise from every user.

I just wanted to point out that all of the photos are still on the server. The links to them were just disabled from the portfolio page.
    Examples:

    http://brettandjizellephotography.com/?attachment_id=637

    and so on

I would encourage the photographers to begin the next steps in this course of action recommended on PictureDefense, including alerting the ISP http://picturedefense.blogspot.ca/p/free-standing.html

    • Steven Joseph

That’s cool Zed. I’d love to know how you did that? Did those URLs (http://brettandjizellephotography.com/?attachment_id=614) show up when you hovered over the unlinked images? Good work!

    • Joseph Philbert

I wonder what they are thinking when they take a image and put their watermark on it what is actually going through their mind.
Some one needs to interview a photo thief…actually a few of them.

  • Justin Case

OK, I have given up hope that Brett n’ Jiz are ever going to deal with this directly. Doesn’t really matter now, since all his businesses are now tarnished by this fiasco.

Oh, and yes, looks like it’s going semi-viral: 3864 views so far.

    • Michael Goolsby

      Justin,

There never was any really hope that they would address this openly. Brett may pretend to be MANY things, but there is one thing at which he clearly is a true professional: narcissism. Based on his profile, an image of success is EVERYTHING to Brett, and he has spent his life polishing that image. Thus, he would consider even recognizing these accusations an act beneath himself. Brett is one of those who has an $85 haircut on his 50-cent head. But to him, he is all gold. He will NOT acknowledge his wrong-doing. He tried to make it go away quickly by blaming someone else, but his slick talk did not work, and so, with nothing but slick talk to offer, he MUST simply look away. Indeed, I find it likely that he doesn’t even look at this page. This is in stark contrast to Chris Jones, who not only could not look away, but actively helped it continue, bathing in the notoriety, even though it was not good. Both Chris and Brett are sociopaths, following only their own rules as they see fit, but they are different kinds of sociopaths. Where Chris bathes in his lies happily like a pig in mud, Brett is probably more like Christian Bale’s American Psycho, outwardly portraying a perfectly chiseled image of success. He not only drinks his own kool-aid, but he loves the taste of it. He will not taint it by addressing us low-lifes. We are little people who do not understand that winners take what they need rather than spend years in the trenches getting dirty in the learning. He cannot relate to the logical concerns we would have in his position. In his mind, he deserves what he takes. He is entitled to it. And he does not answer to us.

      • Whatever

People keep throwing out that term sociopath. Sorry, I don’t think it is being used properly here, Michael. I think we have an Elitist Narcissist: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder#Subtypes

        • Joseph Philbert

What ever it is …. It’s a serious mental disorder

          • Me

            What? Women’s fashion? Agreed.

        • Michael Goolsby

obviously, none of us are likely to qualified psychologists. But even psychologists are not in a hundred agreement with their clinical diagnosis, and even the manual is constantly being updated to reflect new understanding. However, I include the term sociopath here not in place of narcissism, but inclusive of narcissism, which is a common characteristic of the sociopath. brett has exhibit a great deal of narcissistic behavior, but there are a few things to me also suggestive of a sociopath. whatever the case, photostealers are fascinating creatures, all sharing variety of antisocial behavior. I do indeed wish that psychologists would visit this site to both gain and share their clinical insights.

As an aside, I find it regrettable that you chose to share your comment under a guest name, and one named whatever at that. please do not feel that you must hide when sharing an opinion contrary to someone elses.

          • Michael Goolsby

      • Justin Case

I just had some hope that with all the digging, sooner or later we would hit a nerve. There are some places I won’t go, but somehow every time I saw another shirtless photo all I could see was a big giant target plastered across his hairless chest.

Sociopath, narcissist, vain ego-maniac or whatever, what is quite obvious is that for all his claims, he cares not one lick for his ‘clients’ and ‘customers.’ Thankfully, despite all his many and varied schemes, I really doubt he was fooling anyone. And I doubt he had any real business to speak of.

Regardless, the damage is done. He does not look big, important, or even successful. He looks like a fool. And THAT is the image that will last.

  • Inquisitor_Cortez

Heh. What do you think of the post below from “Bill”? What advice would one have for Brett or any other photographer caught stealing? Other than “Sell your gear and get out of town.”.

    • captain-confuzzled

It’s pretty simple really. At the very least, take full responsibility, apologize publicly and sincerely to all that you have wronged, (photographers, clients, people featured in stolen photos), and make amends (offer to pay for usage of photos, contact clients to explain that you misrepresented your work).

  • Me

He may not blink. Someone like like appears to love the attention so even if we’re condemning him, he gets what he wants: attention. Even better, we’re talking about what a ‘bad’ person he is; so he gets attention AND notoriety.

Ever wonder why so many baddies plead not guilty when they don’t have a hope in heck? Attention. Drama. They’re the star of a show!

    • C Sab

Yeah well despite what people say there is such a thing as bad press so he may enjoy it now but he won’t eventually.

I was just notified by Yelp that my review was taken down because it lacks firsthand customer experience. These “thieves” stole a wedding image of friends of mine in front of my Rolls-Royce limousine. I call BS!

    • MPR1776

I call BS with you! On a bright note, I reported Brett for his 5 star rating of himself and that seems to have been regulated to the ‘not recommended section’ a click-able link below the reviews they’ve allowed to stand

    • Joseph Philbert

      That is weird..

    • MPR1776

I found you, at the bottom of the not recommended page where there are 4 that have been removed for violating their guidelines.

      • Bob23325

I just sent Yelp a nice KMA e-mail. They will remove a review from someone whos image was stolen, but not remove the frauds that stole everyones work. I still call BS. I always tell people “The only reason we have locks on our doors is to keep the honest people out.”

      • Bob23325

I think that since the comments have died down Brett is doing some damage control. I’d call him a twat, but that’s not fair to all the real twat’s out there.

  • Bob23325

It’s pretty bad when frauds like this have Yelp backing them…

    • MPR1776

Their recommendations are based on the software they use to filter the reviews according to their site.

      • Bob23325

No… I got an e-mail from them saying my review had been removed because it lacks firsthand customer experience.
        “Hi Bob,
We wanted to let you know that we’ve removed your review of Brett & Jizelle’s Photography. Our Support team has determined that it falls outside our Content Guidelines because it lacks firsthand customer experience.
        Blah, blah, blah…”

These people are thieves and frauds. Please sue me losers. I would love to come out to Las Vegas for a few days of court and fun.

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

      Pretty interesting review on Yelp.

“I have used Jizelle several times to retouch old photos for me…”

Wonder if Jizelle got permission for the copyright holder before modifying someone elses IP. Last I checked …

      “Exclusive rights

There are six basic rights protected by copyright, sometimes called the six “pillars” of copyright.[citation needed] The owner of copyright has the exclusive right to do and to authorize others to do the following:

… To prepare derivative works based upon the work;”

    • Justin Case

I think this is going to backfire on him, Bob. There are still 10 one-star reviews. And they took away most of the positive, 5-star reviews and put them on the ‘Not Recommended’ page.

My hope is that he’s been quiet because he actually has received letters from lawyers and take-down notices. He left negative comments on his Facebook page for more than 48 hours. I believe he’s just hoping we will move on when the next lowlife gets listed.

But no worries, Brett. I will be checking back, and if this site goes down in the Google rankings, I’ll be sure to start posting again.

    • amazed

Well if a company pays yelp, all the negative comments dissapear or are put so far down they are not noticed.

  • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

For GODS SAKE! They are STILL selling boudoir sessions on Groupon for 80$ so 40$ since Groupon takes 50% of the sale!

OMG! They have one of 50 Sold!!! They plan to offer 50 boudoir session at a loss?!?!? And they are all going to be done within 90 days of purchase?

What the hell is wrong with these people?

Just do the math … 2 hour session = about 5 hours of work.
    50 X 5 = 250 hours
    50 X 40$ = 2000$ in sales … sales, not profit!
2000$ / 250 hours = 8$ an hour BEFORE we take out costs!

Here, just for fun, let’s just say that 2/3 of the dale goes to hard costs and business costs.
    2000 / 3 = 666$ * 2 = 1332.
    2000$ – 1332$ = 668$ in profit.
    668$ / 250 hours = 2.67$ an hour!

Now, what we can do is go to them asking for them to work, then just before booking or paying, tell them to stop stealing. That would really push them to make a response.

Below is my reply to attorney William Whitman of Lansdale, PA.

    “Dear Will.

I don’t think you understand copyright infringement.

Should those photographers whose work your client stole and fraudulently represented as his own pursue compensation, your client is in serious trouble and liable for close to $1,000,000 in damages for infringement alone.

Do you think that suing those involved, particularly those he has stolen from, will make the aggrieved parties more or less likely to seek the $1,000,000 Mr. Baughman is already liable for?

Please advise your client to publicly acknowledge and apologize to all affected for his fraudulent theft and misrepresentation of other photographers’ works as his own. That’s the only way this thing goes away for him.

I am posting your letter to my blog and to the very high traffic StopStealingPhotos.com

    Sincerely,

    Steven Fogarty”

You may want to let him know that to win a defamation case the statements that were made need to be proven false. I don’t know how this PS post or your blog post could ever be proven as false information. Ya know, since they aren’t false and all…

          • Wes Jones

Too funny. The lawyer says the same thing about every client…”This buyer was a pleasure to work with. I look forward to working with this buyer again.”

          • Just a Girl

LOL Its been a loooong day and I just skimmed this real quick BUT at first glance I read “With Will you are getting Starbucks for your money” LOL

          • Wes Jones

Ok, I’ll be the one to ask… what is Souchack?

          • BullShite

OK so this is my new theory: Brett talks to this guy and gives him a vague notion of what is going on (probably a Brett version of the truth, involving those of meager talents, that are jealous and covetous attacking his good name) so the Lawyer tells him to write a “cease and desist”… which if you are LEGITIMATELY being slandered and what have you, you would DO, and something like that would totally fit into a five or ten minute call.

So Brett jumps on his laptop, and cut and pastes here and there, and types the letter up HIMSELF, and sends it with the lawyer information on the bottom…. because technically they did “talk” together, and Bretsky-whetsky thinks that this will scare those that cower in his long shadow of success, and powerful abdominal muscles.

The Lawyer states IN HIS FIVVER that this does not actually constitute a “relationship”. SO the idea he is actually legally representing Douchepickle is pretty unbelievable.

Anyhow, this is the scenario that I am betting my duckets on.

Can’t wait for what Stephen hears back.

For being such a success it’s a shame there are no lawyers in Las Vegas ANYWHERE he can spend what MUST be a vast amount of wealth on.

Pretty funny that a guy who has his naked torso posted all over the internet is worried about his ‘image.’ To be honest, I doubt we could ever make him look more foolish than he has made himself look.

If Brett pursues this, he’s going to have to sell a lot of $5 hypnosis tapes:

Ok time for me to blog :)

  • Steven Joseph

Brett Baughman’s Pennsylvania lawyer (?) William M. Whitman’s threatening letter to me is now on my high SEO blog. http://www.stevenjosephphotography.com/las-vegas-photographers-brett-jizelle-photo-thieves-attempt-to-silence-any-who-expose-their-thievery-via-threat-of-defamation-lawsuit/

Melinda Potter’s exactly right – in order to win a defamation suit, the things being said about you have to be, ya know, UNTRUE. Thanks to Corey’s amazing work, there is zero doubt that PHOTO STEALER Brett Baughman stole at least 62 photos, which, if the judgement in last fall’s Agence France / Getty Copyright Act suit is any indication, means that Brett Baughman is liable for at least $9,300,000 IF ONLY THE PHOTOGRAPHERS HE STOLE FROM GET TOGETHER AND SUE HIM.

    • BullShite

Hey, Steven, did you call this Lawyer, using contact info from the lawyer’s website?

It DOES seem a little odd that he would hire a PA lawyer…. maybe Brett just googled business lawyers that didn’t live in your area thinking you’d be cowed by a letter from a “real” lawyer (i.e. one you could google) but too “afraid” to actually call said lawyer. I mean, would this be something we could put past this fool to do? Especially since this Lawyer both has ZERO CONCEPT of copyright laws (if it is from him) despite being a business attorney, and is only licensed to practice in PA, as MPR posted.

The whole letter itself seems awful fishy when I read it…..

      • Steven Joseph

BullShite, I did not call him. But I did send several emails. I expect to hear from him again soon.

        • Wes Jones

Right about now this lawyer is probably coming to the realization that he just stepped into a steaming pile. He should make a hasty retreat.

          • Justin Case

Sorry Wes, but lawyer’s live for this shit. The more they drag it out, the bigger the paycheck. What he has done so far has required little to no cost on his part, and is the usual first remedy offered since it costs nothing and really is just the legal way of asking formally.

That said, if he was really going to go ahead with the lawsuit, I think he wouldn’t have bothered to send the letter at all, and simply would have had the lawyer file the papers and the billing would have started.

          • Joseph Philbert

I dont think he will go beyond the C&D letter… I am guessing we have to wait till after the holidays to get an answer.

          • Photo Stealers

He CAN’T at least not with the lawyer he’s got.

        • Justin Case

Steven, I doubt you will. Lawyers don’t do ANYTHING without being paid to, and sending a cease and desist letter doesn’t take much and is certainly not legally binding (i.e. it’s a threat and not a court order). If Brett actually moves forward with this it will quickly get VERY expensive for him, and I expect that then you will get formal notice that a suit has been filed against you.

I have little doubt that Brett has had contact with actual lawyers in his many and varied business dealings (Real Estate, health insurance, financial management, business training not to mention being an LLC, all these things have been listed on his resume in one form or another). So why go to a $5/minute lawyer in PA? Either he couldn’t find one locally he could afford or they all told him he was opening himself up to being countersued.

@disqus_Pszm4sUPlM:disqus | This is probably the best advice you could get here.

        • captain-confuzzled

Steven, does the email header indicate that it actually came from the lawyer? just curious.

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

Now, I’m not a lawyer … heck, I’m not even from the states but I was under the impression that businesses that are headquartered in another state, do no business in your state, and have no physical presence in your state can be sued only in the states where they operate.

So since this lawyer is only allowed to practice in PA and you don;t technically operate in PA … but like I said, what do I know.

      • BullShite

I’ve been reading up on this lawyer, and more and more i am convinced something is really off. MAYBE this is legit, but I don’t see anything on the lawyer’s sites saying anything about copyright infringement, defamation or libel, or anything like that. He seems to deal in incorporation, wills, employee situations…. and I might be wrong but I think copyright law, as well as slander, libel, defamation, etc is a whole separate thing.

Also this Lawyer states OVER AND OVER that he is ONLY licensed in PA.

        • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

Yeah but … this is from the Oregon state bar but is probably similar in most states.

What is not the unlawful practice of law?

Although it depends on the specific facts of each situation, some of the commonly occurring activities that generally are not considered the unlawful practice of law in Oregon:

          … out-of-state lawyers or collection agencies who send demand letters into Oregon, without more;

This is just speculation but …

So the lawyer charges Brett a quick 100$ to write and post a letter … maybe it scares Steven into backing off? What has the lawyer lost? Nothing but maybe 20 minutes of his time and even then he’s charged Brett for the service … he might have even had a para-legal do it instead and simply signed off on it.

          • BullShite

This lawyer is on fivver you know. ;)
Maybe this is a $5 letter.

            http://www.fiverr.com/willwhitman/give-you-legal-guidance-on-pa-law-for-5-mins

          • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

Anyone else notice that the LLC in his profile picture on Fiver has the spellcheck underline under it? Hihihihihi ….

          • Zed

And you noticed Brett’s review of him there?

          • BullShite

Oh no I didn’t, I didn’t spend that much time looking at it. (Supposedly I am supposed to be working on something. Ha!) The funny thing is I was just JOKING when I said this is where they met!!

          • Justin Case

            umm, Souchack?

          • Justin Case

nice catch. that actually explains a lot for me.

      • Joseph Philbert

You are correct … They have to be from the same state … So unless that lawyer is traveling it’s basically pointless as you can’t sue someone across state lines PA law is slightly different than Vegas law..

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

Let us know if you start a defense fund.

    • Wes Jones

Any clue why he decided to zero in on you?

      • BullShite

He is a photographer, and posted an entry on his blog about this situation.

    • Justin Case

Steven, any word yet from godaddy? I would worry more about that than an actual lawsuit. Godaddy may just have a blanket policy on these things and they may just shut things down as a matter or course whenever a lawyer is involved.

I would take proactive action and contact godaddy at least to know what your rights are.

      • Joseph Philbert

        Godaddy would not do that….

        • Justin Case

hope you’re right Joseph. I don’t know anything about godaddy, but I have been less than impressed by a lot of big ISPs to stand up for their paying clients – especially when a lawyer (dubious or otherwise) is involved.

And they have taken down a few websites that have been outed here for copyright infringement. But defamation accusations are different and a lot harder to prove.

      • Steven Joseph

        Did.

  • MPR1776

On a bright note, Yelp took down Brett’s review of himself

    • Steven Joseph

      Well done!

    • doncalifornia

      LOL

  • Wes Jones

    Ahhhhh… Nicely done!

  • Joseph Philbert
    • Steven Joseph

Joseph, BTW, your work is GORGEOUS!

      • Wes Jones

I second that! Amazing work Mr. P!

      • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

Wish my stuff was half as good. :p

      • Joseph Philbert

        Thanks I try :)

    • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

      You have a typo.
“also, but guess what telling the truth is, not libel or denomination”

I think you meant defamation, not denomination.

      • Joseph Philbert

YEa man I noticed all my typos after I posted it .. #gofigure.
I fixed them now thanks. (in the heat of the moment and not proof reading)

    • Laura Grant

I will throw this out there: that you say on your blog that he teaches people to lie and steal. That COULD be viewed as defamation or libel by a judge, especially since you probably can’t PROVE that he taught people to lie and steal. You can certainly show that he himself lies and steals, but not that he taught others to do so.

Don’t get me wrong, this dude is pond scum.

      • Joseph Philbert

You know what Laura you can be right about that… but at this point I am not sure I care. Since for someone to steal in such a way its reasonable to think he has told others its ok to deceive others to get ahead, but then again I may revise my blog…

  • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

I’m feeling left out from the cease and desist letters! :( I want one for making all those pretty images below. I wonder if Cory has gotten one for being the owner of this site and allowing all this nefarious activity on her website.
Hey Brett, please please please have your Fiverr lawyer write me. Mention to him first, that I’m overseas and work at an International Criminal Tribunal.. you know, where REAL lawyers work.
    Bring it.

    • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

PS just doing a search on “brett jizelle” or “brett jizelle photography” or “brett jizelle las vegas” (without the “s) and they pop up FIRST on google. Then Steven Josephs pops up 4th or so. Nice work everyone!!
Shame that a search simply on his name Brett Baughman still only shows up bottom of first page (for me). We’ll work on that Brett Baughman ;)

    • Photo Stealers

I got one in a roundabout fashion via email.

      • Justin Case

I was kinda hoping we could all get them one at a time, you know, make them pay a lawyer for each and every letter they want to send out.

      • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

What does your lawyer have to say? Much uncontrolled laughter?

      • http://www.evildaystar.ca Eric Lefebvre

Also, let us know if you start a defense fund.

  • Bob23325

I would not be surprised at all if “they” stole the lawyers info and wrote the letter. I wouldn’t put anything past these frauds.

  • Steven Joseph

Brett has brought on a classic “Streisand Effect”, where one’s complaints about unwanted attention bring much much more unwanted attention. MORE BLOGGING EVERYBODY PLEASE :-) pointing back here.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Streisand_effect

  • Wes Jones

I wonder if the people *in* stolen wedding photos have any recourse? The copyright remains with the photographer, correct? It’s not like they signed a model release to the thief.

    • Laura Grant

The people in the photos can also sue, since the photos were being used by someone other than the original photographer in an advertisement without their consent. The original photographer has protection (I think under fair use, but I’m not 100% positive about the exact legal term), and can use any photo he/she has ever taken to demonstrate his/her skill, as long as the photo was not taken when the subject had a reasonable expectation of privacy (in a bathroom, over the fence around their house, through the blinds, hidden camera in their home or a changing room, etc.).

  • Justin Case

Just so everyone doesn’t forget about our old friends Brett and Jizelle, The New Yorker magazine has a piece which touches on phoney ‘Yelp’ reviews: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/elements/2014/04/little-lies-the-internet-told-me.html?utm_source=tny&utm_campaign=generalsocial&utm_medium=facebook&mbid=social_facebook

Some gems: “New York’s Internet Bureau also investigated businesses that wrote their
own reviews; among the findings were a hundred and seventy-five
self-written reviews for dancers at Scores, a gentleman’s club” (sound like anybody we know?)

…and why these little lies are so pernicious “The problem compounds itself: when a company starts using fake reviews,
its competitors often feel they need to do the same. Eventually,
everyone is corrupted, not unlike cycling in the Lance Armstrong days.”

    • captain-confuzzled

And Brett is back to 1 five star review as his sole review, putting him back to 5 stars overall. shit.

  • Steve Fogarty

That’s my experience with yelp, too. 10 genuine race reviews from real clients, all hidden.

  • Vegas 4 Life

Same here. Many requested revievw by my clients, yet not one published on yelp. What a fair page…

  • Wes Jones

Any updates on the cease and desist letters? How many folks have received them?

    • Joseph Philbert

I did a blog and email Brett I have yet to receive a c&d letter. I am waiting to hear from Steve since today was an official work day he should have gotten a response .

      • BullShite

Brett probably has to sell a few more fivvers to be able to afford nother letter from his fivver lawyer….

  • MPR1776

Msg from my buds on twitter – Update of sorts

  • MPR1776

And I don’t think they’ll be telling anyone to just search Brett & Jizelle anytime soon — Bing and Google

  • MPR1776

    Or on youtube…

  • Justin Case

I miss Ronny Heller… (sad face)

  • http://www.alborrelli.com/ Al Borrelli

Hey Brett Baughman, don’t think just because things have calmed down that we’ve forgotten. This will haunt you forever, unless you somehow manage to create an online presence we cannot find. Unlikely, but good luck trying since we all know that’s what you’ll do, you’ll try to re-brand and move on. But we’ll find you, I promise, and you’ll have to start all over AGAIN.
Why not just come here and apologize and admit what you did.. it’ll all go away so much faster.
    Seriously.

    • BullShite

Has anyone heard ANYTHING further from the fivver lawyer?
That said I wonder if this lawyer knows about this page? Hehe….

      • Joseph Philbert

Well after almost a month he updated his fanpage status yesterday

        • BullShite

I love the “sitting in the dark” photo. It indicates so much mystery and hidden strength… is he deep in thought, planning his next successful business venture? Is he dwelling on his own pure awesomeness? We are at once drawn in by the unanswered questions, and yet repelled, as the power of someone with such brilliance and abdominal strength is over whelming for those of such low-caste as us.

          https://www.facebook.com/brettbaughman?fref=ts

      • Justin Case

anyone notice that fivver has started showing up as an add in the sidebar? Quite humorous. Never heard of it before Brett & Jiz showed up here. I clicked on the banner and got this:

  • Justin Case
  • AJ Buruca

Not sure if anyone has seen his new identity of Brett Baldman. He posted on my Facebook Page recently.

    • Justin Case

It’s a fake, ‘spoof’ profile AJ, although a benign one as opposed to a troll.

Whoever it is has a sense of humor and seems genuinely concerned about the issues here, so I wouldn’t waste too much energy trying to figure it out.

There is also another one going around: https://www.facebook.com/brettbaughman?fref=ts

  • Bob23325

I have a photo shoot tomorrow with the same photographers that had their photo of their son and daughter-in-law with my Rolls-Royce stolen. Just putting a heads up out there to let them know there will be fresh images to be stolen by the life coach fraud. Mr. Wonderful… you still suck.

  • Google User

If you really want a good laugh, google Jizelle Wiggett, his partner in crime!

  • Justin Case

Don’t know how this slipped through the cracks the first time, but here is a site that still has Brett and Jizelle’s stolen watermarked images on it. (original photographers credited above in original post)

    http://www.openvegas.com/lvbusiness/brett-jizelle-photography/photos/%E2%98%85-WEDDING-%E2%98%85/

    • Lindsay11

HAHA! That is amazing. I wonder if Brett and Jizelle forgot about it? It’s hard to keep up when you steal so very much!

    • barque

It looks like openvegas.com finds businesses and sets up sites for them and you can come “claim” the site. When they set this one up they used all of his stolen content, lol.

      • Me, Myself and I

        HOW IS THAT LEGAL!!!!
By default, they are violating that persons copyright!!!

If they take my photos from my site and post it on a page for me (that I didn’t ask for) they are copying my images without consent, they are displaying my images (without consent), they are distributing

  • marc roberts

    Hello everyone!

I wanted to boost the effectiveness a website and community like this can have. We can all help prevent photo-stealing by giving those who would consider stealing the work of other photographers meaningful consequences to weigh. And so I donate a few minutes of my time.

Those who don’t know right from wrong, those who don’t consider others, might at least contemplate their actions in the face of likely negative consequences. All of your efforts thus far play that role and I thank you.

I’m sure Brett and Jizelle only considered the upside when they willfully stole the work of others, to then go forth and do further wrong, by duping unsuspecting customers with their “photography business.”

An opportunity for further enlightenment for Brett awaits in this call to action from none other than Jizelle below. As you’ll see, Brett is seeking to raise/win money to “save lives” with his life coaching.

Save the MassesTM from Brett Baughman:

“Wow – I just can’t believe that no one has taken 2 minutes out of their day to simply vote for Brett Baughman business to win a contest to help raise marketing fund for his business that helps save peoples lives. And yet – 3 people have taken it upon themselves to vote negatively against him. Being his partner, I see how hard he works and how dedicated he is to helping others – when so much of the time they take him for granted. All he talks about is how he can make the world a better place and what he can do to make a difference, and to know there are actually people who are trying to sabotage his possibility for winning makes me sick. Shame on you, whoever you are. You are literally the reason why this world can be a horrible place. If you have a problem with my fiance – don’t be a coward, and take it up with me.”

“If you have a problem with my fiance – don’t be a coward, and take it up with me.”

I guess that means her fiance is the coward?

      • U Really That Dumb?

        OR:
She’s more of a man than he is.
She has bigger balls than him.

    • BigAl

Well I would have down voted him, but I’m damned if I am going to go through the task of registering on that website. One that looks pretty odd if you want my opinion, seems more like a means of harvesting “good” confirmed email addresses.

      Alan

      • Christopher C.

That’s why it’s good to have a functional catch-all email address. Just a simple free-mail address you don’t use for anything important. I have a gmail account specifically for throwaway signups and accounts I don’t want having my more insulated email addresses.

    • Justin Case

      from Mayo Clinic website:
“NARCISSISTIC PERSONALITY DISORDER is a mental disorder in which people
have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for
admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of
ultraconfidence lies a fragile self-esteem that’s vulnerable to the
      slightest criticism.”

      (sound familiar?)

    • barque

Wait, so, this is confusing: Jizelle says if you have a problem with Brett, you should take it up with HER and not Brett? If you have a problem with Brett, taking it up with his fiance is the right and honorable way to deal with it? LOL

  • ValkyrieJen

LOL he just sent a ‘cease and desist’ letter to me, no legal basis. I’m married to a lawyer, pal. You can’t intimidate me. Someone actually tried to serve legal papers to an email address.

    • http://philbertphotography.com Joseph Philbert

      Wait … Hahahahahahhahahaahahhahaahhahhaahhahahahhahahahahahhhahahahahahahahahhahahahhahahahahahhaahh

      • ValkyrieJen

        Yes. Yes, it did.

        • U Really That Dumb?

I wonder when his lawyer is going to finally realize that it’s his client that needs a C&D from this big series of tubes called the internet.

Contact the contest organizers and send them a copy of the email … that should disqualify him form the contest.

OMG that is the BEST thing I have heard all day! :D
          I love that Fivver lawyer!

and what, pray tell, are you meant to cease doing? Downvoting him publicly?

    • U Really That Dumb?

Email. For downvoting a vid !

        • U Really That Dumb?

        • Me, Myself and I

You know … I wonder how happy the organisers of that draw would be if they found out he was intimidating (or trying to anyway) people who are using their system. …. hummm …

          • http://philbertphotography.com Joseph Philbert

Wonder if he 10 C&D letters.

Sent from a iPhone, please excuse the brevity and typos.

          • U Really That Dumb?

I’m sure they would not be too pleased.

    • Christopher C.

I don’t understand. What was the C&D supposed to get you to stop doing?

      • ValkyrieJen

        Downvoting his video, I guess?

        • U Really That Dumb?

It wouldn’t surprise me if his attorney is somehow involved in all of his dealings.

        • Christopher C.

The best kinds of C&D letters are the ones that don’t tell you what to stop doing!

A C&D isn’t legally binding at all. Its SOLE purpose is intimidation. (People get lawyers to send C&Ds because it looks more “legal” and “official.” The reality is, anyone anywhere can send a cease and desist.) The problem is, if you’re not doing anything wrong and/or it doesn’t clearly spell out what it is it wants you to stop doing, any intimidating tone completely falls flat and it just becomes funny. :)

But you knew that. You’re married to a lawyer. :) So ignore it. Completely. If they send you another one, threaten them with harassment charges.

          • http://philbertphotography.com Joseph Philbert

I say scan it and post it for all to see and laugh :)

          • Christopher C.

It was sent via email, so the hard part (scanning) is unnecessary. :)

$10 says the email had a disclaimer at the bottom saying something to the effect of “This email is meant solely for the named recipient and you’re not allowed to share it blah blah blah if you received it in error you must delete it and notify the sender blah blah blah.”

Those disclaimers aren’t legally-enforceable either, so post away! Any time I get an email with one of those disclaimers, I post the email in its entirety to my website. :)

          • http://philbertphotography.com Joseph Philbert

LOL yea no need to scan … but you are right. The disclaimer is pointless.

        • U Really That Dumb?

It’s looking like a number of people are down voting his videos. I wonder how many of them have received a C&D.

  • U Really That Dumb?

    • Factitious_Detector

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! LIFE COACH!!! This guy can’t even run one legitimate business, and HE wants to coach OTHER PEOPLE!!! OH man, this is better than his fivver campaign. God, what a tool.

    • Christopher C.

I can’t stand people who wear those tiny ear-mounted wraparound microphones. They’re completely unnecessary, and these people do it because they think it strengthens an image of communication.

In reality, it just makes you look ridiculous. Especially since it serves no practical purpose, even MORESO in a goddamn Youtube video.

That SlapChop guy used to wear one too.

      • Me, Myself and I

Ah … god old Vince (SlapChop, Shamwow …).

That microphone he is wearing makes no sense for a talking head video … off frame boom mic or shotgun mic … so many better options. Heck, even a well concealed lavaliere would have made more sense.

    • Michael Goolsby

I’m not surprised he hasn’t raised a penny. Strong narcissistic personalities are generally quite successful at fooling others. But this character is just an obvious phony. The single biggest problem with him is that he drinks his own Kool-Aid and clearly has a taste for it. This is why, when he was originally outed on Photostealers, he doubled down and found offense only in others, typical of such a person who thinks their own farts smell like roses.

Doesn’t look like he’s going to meet that 25K goal. Good. Brett Baughman, Life Coach? What a joke!
