  • U Really That Dumb?

Oh no! The Canadian Cult Members are going to be PISSED!

  • doncalifornia

I am going to check off the “Inspiration Folder” square on my bingo card right now.

    • U Really That Dumb?

      Not even taking that bet!

  • V323

I call “it wasn’t watermarked so I thought I was free to use” square.

    • Photo Stealers

Save for that pesky problem where she removed the watermarks from the ads and replaced them with hers.

      • V323

But she has an app that just does that, dont’cha know?

        • Helena

She got it from Tara. 😉

        • Justin Case

          yer killin’ me…

  • CrackerJacker

    I call “fallback on religion”!

Also, just a thought here, but if you’re going to use an obnoxious faux script font on your blog, consider whether or not <3 still actually works as a heart…

    • U Really That Dumb?

      DOH!

  • Piemonade

I love how she put in her own awful in between two obviously pro images. Are these people really delusional enough to think that it will blend in? Yikes.

  • typeaimages

    YAhtzee!

Kelly’s Dream Photography Any photos that have my name on them are my photos……many people use stock images that you can purchase to create ads – I have done many free events to build my portfolio – i have never put my tag on anything that was NOT legally mine!

    • U Really That Dumb?

      Link?

    • Photo Stealers

Um, she lifted the ENTIRE ad and they weren’t for sale, I checked. I had emails from two photographers that were stolen from. Try again.

      • CrackerJacker

I couldn’t believe I was seeing that at first! If she really thinks that’s OK, she’s beyond help. Stop now, Kelly!

    • “many people use stock images that you can purchase to create ads”

You are correct … Ford uses images of BMW’s all the time in their advertising.

Using stock isn’t illegal … using stock photos to advertise your own photographic services is FALSE ADVERTISING!

Think about it this way. you go to a bakers site for a wedding cake and see wonderful images of beautifully crafted cakes. You purchase a cake from them and low and behold, the cake doesn’t look anywhere near as good as it did in the advertising …. why because they used stock images not their own work.

Or for a better analogy, you go meet the baker and see wonderful cakes in the display but what you don’t know is that she bought those from another bakery.

” i have never put my tag on anything that was NOT legally mine!”

But you HAVE used images that were not legally yours. Copying them to facebook or another server? Violation of copyright.

Using them commercially? Violation of copyright.

Removing watermarks? Violation of CopyRight AND DMCA.

Publicly displaying the images without permission? Violation of copyright.

I could go on and on and on …

You might want to read up on copyright law before you say anything else.

  • Helena

So she’s been in business for how long? A month? Already been caught using other people’s images. That’s pretty fast to set up and subsequently destroy your business.

Also, what is with the “creative” edits? If you fade from colour into black and white mid way through someone’s face, they end up looking dead.

  • Glenn Bruce

For this one I predict her defense to be “this was a sociological experiment to see how long it would take photo stealers to find it”

    – a far from plausable excuse – but probably the only one we have yet to hear 🙂

    • U Really That Dumb?

      New Bingo Square?

      • Ric New

Got to wait to someone to actually use it before giving its own bingo square.

      • OtterMatt

Bingo nothing. That’s the freaking Golden Snitch.

    • Helena

      Haha!

    • Justin Case

every once in awhile, I’ve wondered if someone set up a fauxtography business just to see if they can get listed here.

But nope, so far they’ve just been the usual stupid, lazy thieves.

  • U Really That Dumb?

She is already in delete mode for comments! She’s seen this!
Kelly, you have been caught red handed!

  • CrackerJacker

Kelly — things are about to go crazy. Do yourself a favor. Look at other people who have been “featured” here. See what happens to people who go into denial vs. those who put on their big girl pants and do the right thing. If you REALLY want this to be a career, make the right choice.

    • Ric New

Very well said. Lets see if she follows your advice.

  • V323

Dislike her response, but also not a fan of people personally attacking her & bombarding her page with duplicate information.

    • Just a Girl

Yeah one of the ones I just read was waaaaay out of line! I think telling someone to go bury themselves under ground is beyond what people here are about and reflects badly in general on the people who do not act that way

      • V323

That’s my perspective; the validity of the message & work PS does becomes negated when the personal comments go overboard. It allows the offending party to focus on “Poor me, look how awful people are” rather than the true issue….stealing others’ work.

      • Photo Stealers

        Where is this?

        • Lindsay11
          • Photo Stealers

            Thanks. Attempting to handle it.

This is NOT what Photo Stealers is about. If you want to post the link, fine but that has crossed the line and frankly pisses me off.

          • Lindsay11

Thanks Corey, I just sat down and it was the first thing I saw. Jaw dropping.

          • Lindsay11

            LOL That escalated suddenly!

          • V323

I can’t believe she got snippy with you, PS. #giantfacepalm

          • Amber Kost

            What did I miss??

          • Justin Case

well, at least it shows VERY clearly that no one around here endorses or supports that kind of behavior. Couldn’t be more clear than that.

          • Helena

I missed that post. That’s horrible.

        • Just a Girl

On her reviews screen shot attached

      • Amber Kost

I saw that, and it blew me away! Badly weirded, but maybe she meant Kelly should run and hide? Not cool, but better than what my original understanding of the statement was :/

        • Amber Kost

          Whoops, worded 🙂

      • Some just take it waaaaay to far… I never wish bad on a outed thief … except for them getting sued.

  • Badsey Snapper

    MWAC?

    • CrackerJacker

      Mom With A Camera

      • Badsey Snapper

Thank you, not a term used much in the UK

        • CrackerJacker

Usually describes a mom (go figure) who is just good enough to have everyone in her circle of friends and family say “you should do this professionally!” and without much more than that, decides to hang out a (frequently stolen) shingle and be a “professional photographer”.

Search for the inimitable Missy Mwac for a spot on satire of this archetype. 🙂

          • Popcorn At The Ready

I know exactly what you mean.

I’m friends on Facebook with a mother that has been posting terrible pictures of her kids for a while now and her friends keep complimenting her. At least one has suggested that she should open a business.

She’s notorious for doing “creative editing” like selective coloring, heavy vignetting and such. Honestly, her work is terrible and I feel bad for her kids because they aren’t going to have decent pictures of their childhood.

There’s nothing wrong with being passionate about photography and being a hobbyist, but she’s nowhere near the kind of level she need to be to take on clients of her own.

I should note that her watermark of choice is the Disney logo font.

          • Lindsay11

Wait, what? She uses the Disney logo as her logo with no changes or anything? I mean, even if she made changes that still wouldn’t be ok but… wut. Using one of the most famous and recognizable logos ever as your own? Does she not know how much Disney loves litigating?

          • Popcorn At The Ready

It’s a font called “Waltograph” that she used to watermark with (her name) Photography.

            http://www.dafont.com/walt-disney.font

          • Lindsay11

I don’t know how to feel about that actually. Grossed out? I’m not sure that that is what the font was made for, aren’t there copyrights on fonts? I can’t imagine Disney would care for it either way.

          • peaceetc

I think Missy deserves a link because she is all that is awesome in the world, especially since Facebook won’t allow her personal account to have that name because they are meanies and it’s a bit harder to find. https://www.facebook.com/MWACattack — she has a page, too, but the best stuff gets posted on her profile.

        • OtterMatt

On a site like this one, you can only type these things so many times before you just have to go to an acronym. These people are EVERYWHERE. Just go to any wedding, ever.

          • U Really That Dumb?

            SMH = Shake my head
DOH! = Oh crap! You’ve been caught! OR a million other things, but hey… 🙂

        • Ric New

When that term gets used, “MWAC”, I’m not even sure what message they are trying to convey. Ok, so you’re a mom with a camera, and . . .

          • Lindsay11

I don’t believe any Moms use this term to refer to themselves. It’s a fairly dismissive term photographers would use.

      • Helena

Yay, I’m one of them! 😉

        • peaceetc

I have a camera, but I am not a mom. I’m just a WAC, which seems appropriate.

    • Justin Case

I posted this link yesterday, but Disqus was not being my friend (Joseph, I think you broke it, or maybe it was Celine?)
      http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/27/your-money/27iht-mplay28.4.5478740.html?_r=0

The MWAC is a legitimate phenomena and has been around since the digital SLR became affordable for the average person (circa 2006).
I think it is used fairly accurately and generally by both male and female photographers alike. Like many stereotypes, it can be used in a derogatory way, but like a lot of descriptions, often offends those it best describes.

Just to prove that I am not a gender-based snob, I would like to point out that MWACs are still way outnumbered by WUWEFs (Weird Uncles With Equipment Fetish). And of course, they each both HATE and blame the demise of photography on the other group.

      • Badsey Snapper

        WUWEFs are universal

  • Hunh … she’s in my market.

    • Lindsay11

So you can spread the news throughout your circle of photographer friends and clients pretty quickly, eh?

  • Amber Kost

I want to learn “photogoraphy” 🙂

    • ALP

Me too! Is there a Learning Annex class or should we sing up for the next J* workshop?

  • Popcorn At The Ready

I love the tiled background on her site and how difficult it is to read a couple of the pricing .pdfs.

    • Lindsay11

And the precious font. It’s not as bad as an earlier one I remember that was unreadable, but it’s close!

      • Popcorn At The Ready

I forgot to mention the fake lens flare and heavy vignetting on that page as well. It’s beautiful :’)

  • Lindsay11

It took me awhile but I found this post by @Justin Case that Kelly may really want to read. Justin really laid this out brilliantly and it has stuck in my mind. http://stopstealingphotos.com/gnhb-photography-greentown-indiana/#comment-1310488602

    1. Offender acknowledges the offense, makes formal apology and reaches out to affected photographers. Generally meets with good will from all, a mild scolding and goes back to work a bit wiser. total comments: <10

    2. thief responds here. Denies everything, plays victim, eventually pretends to 'apologize.' Usually accompanied by tears and screaming and much ill-will all around. total comments: 300-500

    3. thief never posts here or on their site, but magically everything mentioned here quietly disappears. Reputation tarnished thanks to Google search and local infamy. Offender hopes it will all blow over. Someday. total comments: 100-200

    4. thief goes into attack mode. Starts lashing out, exacerbates problem by only removing some offending images; repeatedly makes and breaks promises; makes outrageous claims ('it's called biz' or 'everyone does it'); rebrands; eventually becomes notorious and an internet meme. total comments: 3000+

    (Protip: Pick number one Kelly!)

  • Marc W.

    She’s replied to the accusations.

“To set the record straight – there were obvious stock images used in marketing and web marketing that have never been stamped with my logo. I have worked very hard to build up my portfolio over the last year. All of my clients have been very happy with the work I have done for them – and I do alot of pro bono work to further strengthen my photography. Any stock photo’s that had been used in marketing have been removed and I would not ever use a photo that had I didn’t believe to be stock. Kelly Fraser”

    Newest post

    • Amber Kost

Dang, I tried to post a screen shot, and it didn’t work. Boo :/

      • Lindsay11

        Refresh it’s there 🙂

        • Amber Kost

          Oh, thanks!

    • U Really That Dumb?

I have a number of very nice bridges to sell you!
Some will be free from their moorings shortly!

    • Lindsay11

Yes. they were obviously not hers, glad she isn’t delusional.

“All my clients are happy and I’m a GOOD person.”

This hasn’t been removed. If I didn’t know better, was I supposed to just KNOW it isn’t hers? Why use stock if you are a photographer. If you want to say happy Mother’s day and you yourself are a mom, why not take your own photo?

      https://www.facebook.com/kellyfraserdreamphotos/photos/pb.225841857579558.-2207520000.1403110887./299270400236703/?type=3&src=https%3A%2F%2Ffbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net%2Fhphotos-ak-xfp1%2Ft1.0-9%2F10338835_299270400236703_4841081971797182288_n.jpg&size=960%2C540&fbid=299270400236703

      • Amber Kost

Well, yeah…you must have been the ONLY one on a photography page that watched for watermarks and didn’t know some weren’t hers! Ugh…some peoples’ logic…

      • V323

I’m sorry, but didn’t she blatantly steal PR Moments Photography’s Senior package advert? That isn’t stock. That is blatant theft, removing another legitimate watermark & slapping on your own for personal gain. Jeebus.

        • Lindsay11

Yeah, she’s trying to avoid that part. A lot of the things she stole weren’t stock it seems.

          • Amber Kost

But…but…they’re on the internet, so they must be fair game!

          • Amber Kost

Only for advertising and marketing, of course 😉

        • Amber Kost

          She’s already deleting comments…

          • Popcorn At The Ready

It’s unfortunate that deleting Facebook comments won’t prevent people from finding out about her theft. If anything it just makes her look more guilty.

          • Amber Kost

She should seriously close up shop now, apologize, and return later with her OWN work

          • V323

I guess I’ll get blocked as well. Wow, Some never take responsibility.

          • V323

            For documentation.

          • Amber Kost

I have three or four shots of deleted comments too. Why “come clean” if it’s just going to be lies?

          • Lindsay11

No it’s there, you have to refresh LOL Sorry not laughing at you, just… man Disqus sucks!

    • KimJ

And there is the almighty – I do pro bono work so it is okay to steal

  • Amber Kost

Deleting comments like crazy under her new post!

    • Amber Kost

Now I’m blocked from commenting lol

    • Yes she is quick 😛

  • Popcorn At The Ready

Can we delete and report her obvious theft? 🙂

  • Amber Kost

Now she’s playing the harassment card…

    • Popcorn At The Ready

How many bingos are we at now?

      • Amber Kost

My board is getting full already! Still waiting to hear the God loves her anyway, and it was for inspiration (though marketing is pretty close)

  • U Really That Dumb?

Way to go Kelly Farris Wilson!
    *Refresh to see image*

    https://www.facebook.com/kellyfraserdreamphotos?sk=reviews

    • Lindsay11

Wow she is on top of this! Go Kelly, I think I am in love!

    • Amber Kost

      Love this lady!

      • U Really That Dumb?

As a reminder, she is unable to delete comments in the reviews!

        • Amber Kost

          Oh good point!

    • Lindsay11

What makes me sad is 3 people like this… well, this excuse. How could anyone “like” this comment?

      • Amber Kost

Maybe she’s like aries, and her other personalities liked it

        • Lindsay11

haha I had thought of that, but I don’t think so. I don’t think that’s Kelly’s thing. If it were we would have met one of the personalities by now. Don’t you think?

    • KimJ

Those were deleted. New screen shot

  • Amber Kost

    Zing!

    • Lindsay11

Ok I’ve refreshed several times and this time, if there is an image, I don’t think we can blame disqus. ;p

      • Amber Kost

I reposted in another comment. Should have stayed on my laptop lol

  • Popcorn At The Ready
    • Lindsay11

“A” mistake? She’s new! That’s on the bingo somewhere too I’m sure.

She’s starting to make me angry with her lying.

      • Popcorn At The Ready

I should have taken a screenshot. Hopefully someone else did.

Celine’s comment on Kelly’s post mysteriously disappeared without a reply. Surprise surprise.

        • U Really That Dumb?

          Done

          • Lindsay11

Good job! I lost Celine’s post and it’s a good one. Not surprising she deleted it.

          • Popcorn At The Ready

The few posts on her wall from other people appear to be gone now. I personally don’t see the point.

      • V323

I got real annoyed, hence my post to her page. Blatant lying infuriates me.

    • Marc W.

      This.

      • Melinda Potter

        lol oops

      • ALP

A mistake was made … **sigh** She might as well have referred to herself using the royal we. Own up! Apologize! Don’t be a dick!

  • TC

Either she figured out she can block people not in Canada or she finally took her FB page down.

    • Let me check..

    • peaceetc

No, it’s down. I tried asking her a few questions before it was removed or hidden, but she didn’t answer them. I’ll post them here, instead, for posterity’s sake:

“I have a few questions, and I mean no disrespect, nor do I wish to harass anyone. I feel your answers to these questions would help clarify things.

      1. Did you purchase the licenses for these stock images? If not, how were they obtained?

      2. Did you indicate the photos in your ads were not your own? Watermarks or logos notwithstanding, as I don’t think the average consumer knows to look for such things.

      3. Do you think it’s reasonable that average consumer would expect an advertisement for your photography business would assume the photos on the ad were or were not your own work?

I hope you’ll respond to my questions, and understand the spirit in which they are intended. Thank you.”

      • Justin Case

Since you didn’t get any response, I’ll give it a try.

        1. No. Google images, Pinterest. If it’s on the internet, it’s ‘public domain,’ right?
        2. I put my watermark on SOME of my own photos. You should do your homework, and figure out which ones aren’t mine. Caveat emptor.
        3. Yes or no, or maybe. And if they can’t tell the difference, then who cares? My clients are happy, after all.

        • U Really That Dumb?

          4) God loves me and told me to do it!
          5) I am a pofessional photogapher after all!

      • Lindsay11

The fact that she wouldn’t respond to you here really says a lot. I mean, she was deleting stuff anyways but if she had even cared a little about anything other than hiding she would have answered.

    • V323

Looks like it’s down. Which is what she should have done from square one, rather than throwing a hissy that all got documented. 🙂

      • Lindsay11

        I still see it.

        • peaceetc

Really? And you reloaded? I tried it under my mother’s FB account, and couldn’t see it there, either.

          • Lindsay11

Yes, I’ve clicked on numerous links and it still loads. What else do we need screenshots of? (I’ve attached one of her about page)

          • peaceetc

Oh… so it works for Canadians. It didn’t occur to me to look to see where she’s from. I suppose screen cap anything not already on here which isn’t hers.

          • Lindsay11

            I’m in California though 🙂

          • peaceetc

Okay, so I’m completely confused. That is nothing new. 😉

          • Lindsay11

I could be all like, “well I’m just such a leet haxor!” but honestly, I’m as confused as you are LOL

          • Lindsay11

Here is proof she knows how to “share” things and not just upload them herself in case she tries to use that as an excuse. I do wonder if she watched the tip video or not?

          • Justin Case

still up for me… (I am temporarily in Canada, or close enough 😉

        • V323

          Are you in Canada?

          • Lindsay11

            Nope, California.

    • Amber Kost

      Gone for me too

    • She only allows canada…

  • Lindsay11

Kelly, you didn’t take this photo. It is stock. You said you removed all the stock images so I am confused? Here it is in case you are also confused. I know it is hard to keep track of photos if you are never sure who took them. Also, how would you feel if someone stole photos of your children and posted them all over? Don’t steal Kelly. https://www.facebook.com/kellyfraserdreamphotos/photos/pb.225841857579558.-2207520000.1403110887./299270400236703/?type=3&theater

  • ouch, is her FB page down already?

    • Amber Kost

      Yep

    • U Really That Dumb?

Look, I TOLD you, stop with the excessive amounts of Vodka-Pop!
It causes you to actually do real work and miss important things like this!

      • I really have to stop letting paramedic stuff interfere with keeping up with photo thief’s!

        • U Really That Dumb?

          Pff!
If you can’t place an IJ while Tweeting you need to go back to school!
That or take a lesson from a teen driver! 🙂

          • well, I got tired of frying phones with the defibrillator. =)
apparently the galaxy note 3 does NOT like 360 Jules.

          • U Really That Dumb?

My old Motorola Flip Phone was OK with the LP10, but did NOT like the 12’s! But it wasn’t an issue for too long as it committed suicide at ~500′ AGL on a SAR. Nope, NO idea how that happened! Also no clue why the SIM card stayed in the ship. 🙂

          • i had a Motorola startac years ago that lasted forever.
i dont defibrillate for charging…i set the phone on the pacing pads at 80/80 for a few hours. =)

          • Justin Case

bet it charges real quick that way!

    • No, she did what so many outed photographers do .. she block everyone but Canada .. I can see her page 🙂

      • U Really That Dumb?

        Reviews still there?

        • Justin Case

          yes, they’re still there.

Strangely enough the wedding ring picture showed up on another Photo Stealers post while I was looking for the original – http://stopstealingphotos.com/photographic-inspirations/

All three are still on her Wix page.

    • Lindsay11

I guess that ring picture is awfully popular! lol

      • Photo Stealers

I think it comes with the WIX template

        • Lindsay11

Oh! So it’s just laziness then. I guess that’s not really a surprise.

  • Lindsay11

Kelly, I thought you said you removed the stock images? You didn’t even remove the one you took the watermark off of and added your own. Stop lying. Do the right thing. https://twitter.com/DreamPhoto2/status/467088388353323008/photo/1 https://twitter.com/DreamPhoto2/status/467087255077548032/photo/1

    • Lindsay11

Hi Kelly! I assume you are reading this page since the twitter stuff was hidden within 10 minutes of me posting this. Don’t just hide things. Delete them. Don’t just block countries. Don’t use photos that aren’t yours. Contact the original photographers and pray they don’t sue you.

      • BullShite

Yeah, because there are NO CANADIANS in here. Nope, none.

        • U Really That Dumb?

          Oh thank GOD! LOL

        • What? This is a WORLD WIDE web? 🙂

        • peaceetc

I’m pretty sure Canada doesn’t really exist. It’s all one big, extended SCTV sketch.

          • C Sab

            Still better than Murica. 😀

        • Wait – you Canadians have electricity now?? 😉

    • Lindsay11

I’m assuming the twitter stuff is hidden because if I try to open anything in a new tab it’s gone but the cached tab has this “Your account may not be allowed to perform this action. Please refresh the page and try again.”

  • Lindsay11

I like graphs. All her views are basically because she is a thief.

Kelly’s Delusion is more like it. Look, we have all had our “my work is shit” period. Its just most of us don;t charge money to other people to consume it. Or steal actually skilled photographer’s work to catch business. When I have had family and friends tell me, you should be in business, you should be selling your stuff! ZOMG… I tell them thanks, but I’m not ready yet. Or that isnt the type of work I do so it wouldnt be right to charge people for that type of photography. Kelly, if you love photography so much—take some real classes, like at a community college, read read read about composition, lighting theory, etc.

    • Melinda Potter

“Kelly’s Delution”. Perfect! Exactly what I was thinking. I don’t hold much hope for this one. She’s already “Trained, invested, and trained and trained some more” before she started her business, according to her blog.
I really don’t think this is a case of “oh no! I suck! I’ll just use other people’s pictures as my own”. More like “Holy cow! I’ve found my calling. This is fabulous and it’s fun and easy too. I need an ad. This picture will work!”. She stole because she honestly believed it was no big deal. She doesn’t understand the value or the work behind good photography because she truely believes she creates good photography, and that’s why she can be so flippant and disrespectful about other photographer’s work. I think quite a few of the fauxtographers featured here fall in this category. She’s NOT a photographer. Sorry to be so blunt, but she needs to move on to something else or some new sort of scam, and quit wasting her time with this endeavor.

    • BullShite

Yeah, the whole “Mom LOVES it” is not a mark of professional level talents.

  • Rebecca

Can anyone in Canada still see this page:

    https://twitter.com/DreamPhoto2/status/467087255077548032/photo/1

It was only on Twitter, not her other social media or website (by the time I saw it, anyway).

Original (note the date stamps on each): https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151995579514062&set=pb.28008994061.-2207520000.1403119685.&type=3&theater

I’m sure the Etsy artist who created that cute little frame at the top wouldn’t be happy either to know that their design was being used illegally by someone who did not purchase commercial rights to that graphic.

    • Justin Case

      “Sorry, that page doesn’t exist!

Thanks for noticing—we’re going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon.”

Status is gone, but her account is still there.

    • She’s still up here in good old Canada.

  • BullShite

I think the facebook might actually be gone now, it’s not showing the broken thumb, it’s just loading my page.

    • U Really That Dumb?

If she set it to CA only then that’s what you see.

    • BullShite
    • Her fan page is officially down … I am assuming she is watching this page and realized blocking everyone but canada is pointless.

    • Lindsay11

I could see it earlier, and now I can’t so I do think it is down. Amazing. I wonder where she’s going to show up now?

    • Justin Case

It’s all still up. Let’s see what happens if I load a direct link to the ‘Reviews’ page:

      • BullShite

Does anyone know if you can view sites that block you in other countries using the Tor browser? My proxy program will not work for facebook.

        • U Really That Dumb?

          Yes

        • infosecbert

TOR acts collectively to construct the network between all participating nodes, and as part of the anonymity function doesn’t let you choose the egress end node. Other solutions let you pick your endpoint (some privacy VPN service providers) and are more suited to that. Or find/use an open proxy, or a cloud service provider where you want to egress.

Wait, if she was an honors graduate in business administration… shouldn’t she have known to register her company and all that junk?

So this has to be about the worst selective color application I have ever seen. Top 5 at least. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-IFy1pXJLkRI/UxOfJht5IBI/AAAAAAAAkjg/1ZErqMw-Guc/w720-h480-no/photo.jpg

    • Helena

      Wow.

    • V323

I’m loathe to get in to the critique game, it really is just a spider
web of opinions, everyone is at different stages of their skill. I’m one
who still cringes at the “MWAC” moniker, as that is where I started
ages ago. Granted, my decision to go pro was a long process, carefully
thought out and with a great deal of training since, but I was a
stereotypical hockey/soccer mom that took picks at every event for the
team. However, I never used another’s work my own.

This photo hurts my eyes, but maybe her clients loved it. But please, for the love of all things holy, lay off the clarity, saturation buttons. Florescent pink is not a skin tone, selective color is not a style.

    • C Sab

Pretty much all selective coloring is bad.

  • Lindsay11

I still have too many tabs open but I found this *attached* so even though she’s deleted her facebook and is waiting for the heat to die down a little before she restarts and rebrands, we still have screenshots Kelly.

“We watch and we are always here.” BAM! Yes I did quote Anne Rice!

The photographer is commenting. The mom of the kid in the stolen photo is commenting. Kelly can’t claim she can’t find this photographer later, can she?

    • Lindsay11

OK so… that’s not the right file at all. Still funny though. Here’s the right one.

    • peaceetc

Oh, wow, Kimberly Mallett. Did you mean to post that one? That’s the lady who sent me and others emails where she impersonated attorneys and other people to try to scare us into removing our comments about her. She’ll always be a special one in my heart.

      • Lindsay11

LOL no, just… Kelly and Kimberly were right next to each other and I didn’t triple check. She is cray cray as my kids say!

    • She does this with photos all the time .. Scratches head

      • Lindsay11

This IS one of my favorite screenshots. Even though it’s totally in the wrong place I’m glad more people can see the irony she’s laying out.

  • doncalifornia
    • Lindsay11

So there really isn’t much on her personal page so I hadn’t posted it, but she does advertise her business like mad on there. I did find a few stock photos of her vacation though.

      • Melinda Potter

Her vacation!? lmao. Who does that?!

        • Lindsay11

Well, she was counting down the days till her vacation and posting stock photos of the places she was going to visit. It’s not as weird as posting and acting like she had been there… I guess.

        • Crazy people with no life …

      • Just a Girl

Lol! That needs a bingo space!

        • Lindsay11

Here’s one of the photos, “for the record”. There’s a few reasons I have a least a tingling of an issue with her doing this.

Number one is obvious, she is claiming she is a photographer. Anyone following her would assume photos she uploads are photos she has taken. Right?

Number two is, wouldn’t it have been easier for her to have just shared or linked a photo of the place she says she was about to visit? Instead she had to search for the perfect image she wants of the place, download it, save it, upload it. Wouldn’t it have been easier to just hit the share or like button? It would have been easier to copy and paste a link than what she did.

OK, in the grand scheme of things, this and the other stock photo vacation photos aren’t really huge deal. But it almost seems to point to some underlying issue Kelly has about posting photos that aren’t hers. (Or maybe I’m just lazy. Cause I know that sharing something sounds way way easier than what she did.)

          https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152182739715645&set=a.198185725644.169676.565765644&type=1&relevant_count=1

    • Lindsay11

      reviews part 2

  • Lindsay11

So I guess, going by Kelly’s logic, she did not take this photo as there are no watermarks or copyright on it. That’s the way this works, right Kelly? http://instagram.com/p/ogmlh5y1JX/

    • Photographer she stole from

Yeah, this is the picture she slapped in between my two newborn images…a phone picture, seriously? That’s probably all she is shooting with 😀

      • ALP

Yeah but she added that neat, yet impossible lens flare. Doesn’t that mean she’s a **professional**

        • Photographer she stole from

Oh absolutely that makes her a photographer! lol!

        • Lindsay11

I try not to criticize, on public forums at least, but those lens flares are in such unfortunate places! It looks like the baby is being attacked by JJ Abrams.

          • ALP

You’re right. This isn’t really a place for critique. That one just bugs. Lens flares don’t just happen.

          • Lindsay11

No I mean, go for it I guess, I try not to because I am absolutely no photographer and I don’t really know what I’m talking about. (So if *I* can notice something is off? That’s not good!) MAYBE she would learn something if people did give her critiques? I sorta doubt it, I dunno.

          • ALP

Also that makes me want to Photoshop J.J. Abrams attacking into that photo.

          • Lindsay11

hahaha nah I won’t encourage that, I will imagine it though. LOL

      • Lindsay11

Oh no! Which photo is yours? Has she responded to you at all?

        • Photographer she stole from
          • Lindsay11

OMG I am talking to Kelly Wilson! Did you know how hard we were all cheering you on earlier? http://stopstealingphotos.com/kellys-dream-photography-napanee-ontario-canada/#comment-1442074948

          • Photographer she stole from

LOL, yes! And I appreciated it 🙂 I couldn’t believe she dared to say those were stock images! Did she really think she could get away with that?!

          • Lindsay11

I am curious, Kelly, and you don’t have to respond if you aren’t supposed to. I know you did a DCMA, and it’s probably the reason her whole facebook went down! Good for you!! Do you have an other actions in the works? Are you planning on suing? Has she said anything at all to you?

And I apologize for saying I was in love with you! LOL I’m kinda embarrassed now. But you were really awesome!

          • Photographer she stole from

Nothing to apologize for, I took it as a compliment, that you loved what I said 😉 I won’t comment here on further action, but we’ll see how it all plays out over the next few months. My hope is that she will walk away from this knowing that what she did was wrong, and that she won’t do it again to anyone else.

          • Lindsay11

Good deal, thanks 🙂 The thing is, if she does decide to come back out in the open this group will be here checking to make sure she does the right thing. I joked earlier with the “we are always here and we are always watching” thing, but it is true. This is one dedicated group. And we have your back!

          • Photographer she stole from

I know! You all are great! I appreciate your help in bringing down these photos 🙂

          • Lindsay11

Also that photo of the baby on the quilt is SOOOO cute!

          • Photographer she stole from

            Awww, thanks 🙂

          • peaceetc

Kelly, I’m sorry she stole your images, and that she completely misrepresented where they came from and never said they weren’t hers, let alone provide attribution (not that it would negate the stealing, of course). I’m glad you’ve provided links here to show the originals and what was stolen. They are facts she cannot deny, which is extremely helpful. Thank you.

          • Photographer she stole from

You are welcome, no problem! I can’t hammer it home enough to people who steal photos…the world of photography is SMALL, word WILL get back to the original photographer!

        • Photographer she stole from

And here is a link to my blog post where the images were originally posted….

          http://www.kellywilsonphotography.com/norman-oklahoma-newborn-photographer-kelly-wilson-photography/

      • Amber Kost

I saw that! HUGE difference in quality and skill! How in the world did she think no one would notice??

        • Helena

False sense of superiority regarding her photos?

        • ALP

None of the other people featured here ever do. Having dealt with two of these people in my market (including one taken down by our fearless cult leader), they seem to NOT see the difference. I’m not sue if they are delusional or really can’t see why their OOF, terrible composed photo is different than the ones they stole. Eye of the beholder and all that.

          • BullShite

I think it’s a subconscious blindness. It’s like they know, but don’t choose to allow that knowledge to penetrate the denial wall…. and then move on to the idea that “borrowing” is ok, because they are entitled to be good photographers, and entitled to be successful, because they never had anyone tell them their work was subpar and unschooled to begin with!

Think about it…. almost ALL of us are surrounded by people who are not professional photographers. So these people probably get a decent camera one day, and start taking photos that look better than your typical point-and-shoot, or mobile shot, and all of the people around them, friends, family, etc are all “oh these are AMAAAAZING! You are so talented!! You could have your own business and make tons of money!”

So the person gets their ego all inflated by friends/family, and instead of posting their work on forums and getting their asses handed to them in critique from real pros, or taking some classes or reading some books… they put up their cardboard storefront…. and then start to look around and see other people and businesses making much better pictures. Instead of learning HOW they do it…. the fraud just steals.

          • ALP

Critique is completely unwelcome anymore. I joined a few forums thinking it might be a good place to help me improve on some of my weak points (journalism background so posing people tends to be tough for me) but every group I joined just spent every post giving each other a tongue bath. The final straw for me was when a community college instructor told one of his students he had nothing left to teach her based on an OOF, underexposed photo with a blown out background. I unjoined each group and gave up. When everyone is a special snowflake, it must feel a lot easier to steal from others since like you said, they are entitled to being a great photographer even without the hard work — or any work really.

          • Helena
          • ALP

I stay as far from F-stoppers and Peta Pixel as I can. The same way I stay away from YouTube comments. This is the photojournalist’s response to posing: http://localpeoplearmscrossed.tumblr.com/

          • Helena

Hehehe. 🙂 What I’ve seen of the video is quite good and I like Jerry Ghionis. He’s pretty funny.

          • Lindsay11

I know that name! How do I know that name… I think that is the guy Marcus had in his profile with him! http://stopstealingphotos.com/dallas-wedding-photographer/

          • Lindsay11

I love that page, thank you so much!

          • Amber Kost

Haha one of those pictures is from my local paper!

          • peaceetc

I had my picture taken once about a zillion years ago for a local newspaper, and they had me cross my arms. I don’t know who decided that should be a thing. I like the site, though… it shows how ridiculous it is.

          • ALP

It’s easy and quick when you have 8 assignments in one day that happen to each be on opposite sides of the county. It’s also the first thing most people do if you ask them to stand near a sign or in front of a building or something. That or the crotch-grabber.

          • Lindsay11

I think every one should pose with their hands on their hips superhero style. That is way more interesting!

          • Amber Kost

            Lmbo @tongue bath

          • BullShite

Wouldn’t want to “bully” anyone now would you? *vomit*

          • ALP

God forbid I ask someone the reason they did a dutch tilt on a simple portrait. **eyeroll**

          • Lindsay11

bahaha! I just read a thing on you are not a photographer about tilting the camera. Why do fauxtogs do this!

          • Lindsay11

Don’t you dare interfere with my first amendment rights to say whatever I want without any criticism whatsoever. That’s the way that works, right?

          • peaceetc

Absolutely, Lindsay. It’s all about free speech for me, and not for anyone else.

          • ALP

Censorship! Or something. Bleh. The thing that really made me angry about those groups/forums was that *I* was looking for some good critiques. But if everyone in the group just wants to have a snugglefest over what special snowflakes they are (and they all are still taking OOF photos of flowers) I’m not going to get anything helpful.

          • Lindsay11

If you want a non photographer who just enjoys this stuff critique I’d be more than happy to look at your stuff for you! 🙂 Nothing I say will be technical or probably even helpful but I can give you a gut level instinct response from someone who has no vested interest. lol

          • V323

I have had the conversation, with a “budding pro” about transitioning out of automatic mode. Defiantly, I was told a) she shoots better in auto & b) doesn’t have time to learn the exposure triangle principles & c) mind my own business.

I pushed her a little, and she basically felt too frustrated with all the math to figure out proper exposure. Cracked me up in ways I can’t even begin to explain (20 years in financial industry, all frickin numbers, I escape only to do what I love…which again is all numbers based. #facepalm) and she’s stopped asking for ‘guidance’ from a lot of people now.

You can a horse to water….but they’ll just steal the bucket & claim they made it themselves.

          • ALP

Or they will take a badly exposed black and white art photo of it — in automatic mode, of course

          • peaceetc

That’s unfortunate and utterly fascinating at the same time. How many people would go into a field without having the faintest idea of what they were doing? Plumbers, carpenters, accountants — they all get training before they do it themselves. But for some reason, people get a camera and suddenly they are pros, no training needed. It makes absolutely no sense.

          • AAARGH!!! That is sooooo bad!

Clueless Noob: I want to be a Chef.

Established pro: Ok but your kitchen is a mess. You are using the same cutting board for meat and chicken … haven;t you ever heard of cross contamination. Your fridge is also way too warm …

CL: I don;t have time to learn all that food handling garbage. I just cook it and it’s fine now mind your own business!

          • Guest

            (see attachment)

          • BullShite

            (see attatched)

        • Lindsay11

I think the reason people who are friends with stealers never seem to notice is because they aren’t looking at everything all at once like we do. Also most of them probably aren’t professionals or know much about photography. I know if I had a friend posting a trillion photos a day (because omg does Kelly post every single photo she ever takes or what!) my eyes would glaze over and before finding this website I never would have given it a second look.

I will say Photo Stealers has taught me SO much about photography, psychology, the internet, reverse image search etc etc. I learned what shooting RAW means! I have no need of this knowledge but it is fascinating! A few months ago I never would have been able to look at a photo and tell if it matched the photos around it but I am a lot better at it now! I know way too much about copyright law! I know if I see someone taking photos on a train track they are probably breaking the law, if they are doing selective coloring on an object that isn’t the focus of a picture they are probably a fauxtographer and that there are way too many people on pinterest. Also one time I was almost in a car accident and wasn’t because I did one last reverse image search on a stealer.

Whew, sorry, I went into a thing there. TLDR: Photo Stealers is an awesome place. I wish we didn’t need it.

        • Lindsay11

Also, “for the record” here’s the page that saved me from being in a car accident. No joke! http://stopstealingphotos.com/joshua-bombard-photography/#comment-1421191077

    • Yea … That’s the assumption

  • Her fanpage is back up …but only in Canada ..

    • peaceetc

You are correct, sir. She’s not helping her case by doing that. The ONLY thing which will help is to own up to what she has done, deal with the photographers from whom she stole, and accept the consequences of her actions.

I can still get it in Taiwan

      • peaceetc

Maybe she’s just blocked the U.S., then. I’m not sure.

    • BullShite

She left some of the comments calling her out on her page.
Also, if you can’t see it, download the Tor browser. Works like a charm. 😉

    • peaceetc

Is the page down again? I can’t access it via Tor.

      • U Really That Dumb?

It’s still there. She set it to CA only.

        • peaceetc

Yep, I tried again and it worked. I’m using Tor, as others have suggested, which anonymizes browsing.

  • KimJ

Have any of her “friends” come to stand up for her? We seem to be missing that.

    • U Really That Dumb?

      Not as of yet.

  • KimJ

Couldn’t resist since she deleted my comment. But you can still post in the review section. That she can’t delete.

    • You get points for being creative and making me giggle …. Ha

    • Lindsay11

hahaha! I was wondering if anyone had tried that before.

      • KimJ

The problem is that they have to agree with the edits LOL
But it was fun doing it.

  • KimJ

She has a Youtube account. I bet she doesn’t know it is also illegal to post videos from music concerts – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNI6VGltJ4HPJgZ1knoLt8g

  • KimJ

Found a few groups that she belongs to. https://www.facebook.com/groups/139169992839829/
She posts quite often there. Anybody else a member?

  • Kelly

I will comment here only once – I honestly did not realize I was stealing anything…I googled images and they were there….no watermarks – I never removed anything from a photograph – I edited marketing boards found on google – maybe I am naive…I am new, but I certainly never meant any disrespect or to cause any harm – a hard lesson learned. Comments are being deleted from my page as I have children and you are upsetting them….this has to stop – you have made your point…I apologize to whoever the photos belonged to, they have been removed and I realize know that I can’t use google images for marketing. The comments referring to those images – I understand – your upset! I agree that I would be as well… Now that I know the severity of the issue…I get it….but the nasty comments about my images and how awful I am….those are just hateful and hurtful comments and not necessary. The comments about my personal page and what I do in my personal life also unnecessary – had someone came to me and said….hey, these belong to someone else and you can’t use them….I would have done exactly the same thing….sorry I didn’t realize and remove them…all the images that I post are now only mine – I did not mean any harm to anyone.

    • KimJ

You did remove watermarks, so don’t lie. As a “professional” the first thing you learn is that you can NEVER under ANY circumstances use ANYBODY’S images. Never.

      • Lindsay11

Was this written by Kelly or Tara? I swear I have deja vu. Only thing missing was the I am a GOOD person.

        • U Really That Dumb?

          Don’t forget God!

          • BullShite

Frankly I am SICK of the “I didn’t know” bullshite…. sorry, even if the photos ARE FREE… you do NOT use them to advertise what is supposed to be YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY. How is this so hard to understand??

Hey I want to sell you a Honda Accord, but I am going to use a photo of a Toyota Camry… the car is the same colour, and well… it’s a car, so it’s ok right?

          • U Really That Dumb?

She has a degree in business, she sure as hell knew it was illegal! That or she cheated in school or skipped that year.

          • KimJ

Maybe her degree is a fake too.
She could have stolen that as well.

          • BullShite

I guess they just didn’t cover copyright law or false advertising!

          • U Really That Dumb?

            Or Fraud
            Or Getting a business license
            Or Integrity
Should I continue or do you get my point? LOL

        • KimJ

It was her app that did it!
All in the name for inspiration

      • Love it when they are proven wrong.

      • doncalifornia

        To set the record crooked…

    • KimJ

Nobody is bullying you. You stole the images plain and simple. You are NOT a victim here.

    • BullShite

We’ve heard the whole “your hurting the children” garbage before…. children do NOT belong on facebook, so if “children” are being disturbed, that’s on you.

You are NOT being bullied. You are being called out for being a LIAR, a liar AND a FALSE ADVERTISER. There are people REALLY being bullied in this world, stop taking away from REAL victims (like the people you stole from) so you can (try) to make people feel bad for you.

You DID remove watermarks, you KNEW it was wrong, you did wrong…. instead of continuing to LIE you should tell the truth. RIGHT AWAY.

The truth being: YOU KNEW it was WRONG, you STILL did it.

    • KimJ

Oh and why did you block everybody that isn’t in Canada?

    • Lindsay11

Are you joking? You removed this one and added your own. It wasn’t stock. Your children SHOULD be upset as you’re a proven liar and a thief and instead of fixing it, you just want it to disappear. Fix it and then your children won’t be so sad Mommy’s a thief. http://i1.wp.com/stopstealingphotos.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/Kellys-Dream_0012.jpg

    • Lindsay11

Please contact the original photographers, apologize and beg them not to sue you.

      • KimJ

She won’t. She removed the comments they made on her FB page.

        • Lindsay11

Something is wrong with this lady if she thinks this is how the internet works.

          • KimJ

But she is a photographer…. so she knows everything.

    • Lindsay11

Kelly, you can’t delete this comment from Kelly. http://stopstealingphotos.com/kellys-dream-photography-napanee-ontario-canada/#comment-1442708459

And Kelly, how would you like it if someone used a picture of your children and posted it all over the internet? You would hate that wouldn’t you? Just the thought is pretty awful. But that didn’t stop you from using photos of someone else’s kids did it? I sure hope your children don’t find out about that one too!

      • @Lindsay11:disqus what in your opinion is the approximate age of her kids? I did get a chance to look … I assume they are old enough to have facebook accounts and able to read to get upset by the post on her fanpage.

        • Lindsay11

I have to say Joesph, I’m not really sure! I didn’t look too hard at the kids and for once the information wasn’t spread out everywhere where I couldn’t help but see it.

        • U Really That Dumb?

If they are UNDER 13, then they shouldn’t be there.
If they are 13+ then they likely already know their mom is a thief…

          • BullShite

You know how you keep your kids from being “disturbed” by stuff like this? You model decent adult behaviour by NOT BEING A THIEF.

She only has herself and her low moral standing to blame for anything her kids might see. All of the posts have been from people merely pointing out her theft and lies, and from at least one of her victims.

That’s what happens when you try to lie to customers, the public, and steal from honest and talented people.

        • Lindsay11

I am assuming they are under 13. One child (assuming it’s even Kelly’s child!) looks to be around 6 or 7 which is my daughter’s age. She does not read my facebook LOL She does look at the photos some times, she really hated Marcus’ photos, especially the weightlifters. She really likes Lucie’s new photos! But the child does not care one iota what people write on facebook. I don’t think she even knows what it is.

My boys are both over 13 and they do not care what is on my facebook. I can barely get them to respond to comments I make on their page let alone mine LOL

It is interesting that she hasn’t spread information about her kids every where. That is pretty unique for a photo stealer. Good for her.

    • The very first thing you should do when starting a business is learn the basics rules of the industry you are in.

      —————- Copyright law.

The only person who has the right to display or distribute images is the person who made the image or own the rights to the images.

Violating that right can lead to you being sued for up to 25000$ per infraction (in Canada, in the US it’s 150000$) and taking the images down does not absolve you of wrong doing … you can STILL be sued.

      Copyright in works

      3. (1) For the purposes of this Act, “copyright”, in relation to a work, means the sole right to produce or reproduce the work or any substantial part thereof in any material form whatever, to perform the work or any substantial part thereof in public or, if the work is unpublished, to publish the work or any substantial part thereof, and includes the sole right

      (a) to produce, reproduce, perform or publish any translation of the work,

      (b) in the case of a dramatic work, to convert it into a novel or other non-dramatic work,

      (c) in the case of a novel or other non-dramatic work, or of an artistic work, to convert it into a dramatic work, by way of performance in public or otherwise,

      (d) in the case of a literary, dramatic or musical work, to make any sound recording, cinematograph film or other contrivance by means of which the work may be mechanically reproduced or performed,

      (e) in the case of any literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work, to reproduce, adapt and publicly present the work as a cinematographic work,

      (f) in the case of any literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work, to communicate the work to the public by telecommunication,

      (g) to present at a public exhibition, for a purpose other than sale or hire, an artistic work created after June 7, 1988, other than a map, chart or plan,

      (h) in the case of a computer program that can be reproduced in the ordinary course of its use, other than by a reproduction during its execution in conjunction with a machine, device or computer, to rent out the computer program,

      (i) in the case of a musical work, to rent out a sound recording in which the work is embodied, and

      (j) in the case of a work that is in the form of a tangible object, to sell or otherwise transfer ownership of the tangible object, as long as that ownership has never previously been transferred in or outside Canada with the authorization of the copyright owner,

and to authorize any such acts.

      27. (1) It is an infringement of copyright for any person to do, without the consent of the owner of the copyright, anything that by this Act only the owner of the copyright has the right to do.

      Secondary infringement

      (2) It is an infringement of copyright for any person to

      (b) distribute to such an extent as to affect prejudicially the owner of the copyright,

      (c) by way of trade distribute, expose or offer for sale or rental, or exhibit in public,

a copy of a work, sound recording or fixation of a performer’s performance or of a communication signal that the person knows or should have known infringes copyright or would infringe copyright if it had been made in Canada by the person who made it.

      —————-False Advertising

The false or misleading representations and deceptive marketing practices provisions of the Competition Act contain a general prohibition against materially false or misleading representations. They also prohibit making performance representations which are not based on adequate and proper tests, misleading warranties and guarantees, false or misleading ordinary selling price representations, untrue, misleading or unauthorized use of tests and testimonials, bait and switch selling, double ticketing and the sale of a product above its advertised price

      • Lindsay11

But Eric, she has a degree in business administration.

        • Then she should ask for her money back.

        • U Really That Dumb?

I wonder if her employer and others know about this. I’m sure they would NOT like to hear about this! Especially if they have an ethics clause or mission statement that covers ethics and integrity!

    • U Really That Dumb?

      Kelly,
      Are you serious?
      1) How do you explain all of the screen captures?
      2) How do you get around FB’s TOS in regards to kids? It’s your own damn fault either way. a) they have to be 13; b) YOUR are the thief and fraud, so grow up and face the music!
      3) Have you heard of Google? They keep a record of everything! You think your kids are upset now, wait until they read the TRUTH about you and the fact that you are STILL lying! THAT is going to cause more grief than anything else!
      4) Track down each and every photographer you stole from, apologize and ask them to invoice you for the commercial rights use of said image. That’s thousands of dollars cheeper than going to court. Even if just one person goes after you, you will likely be bankrupt. Based on the comments you decided to delete, it sounds like a few have already taken legal steps to go after you. So you’re better off doing it now BEFORE you get served.
      5) Read through this blog and see what happened to each and every other fauxtographer that went down the same road you have chosen. They have been destroyed financially and psychologically. NOT because of anything done here, but because of their own bad decision.

In summary, STOP THE LYING AND BULL SHIT!

      • KimJ

I love what you have said but she is the kind of person who posts and runs. (or in her case deletes) and since she can’t delete these messages she won’t come back and comment.

        • U Really That Dumb?

She will… Look at all of her replies on her FB page. There is no way she can keep herself away.
That or her ‘friends’ and ‘family’ will show up.

          • Lindsay11

I hope there are screenshots as she’s finally managed to block me and I wanna see.

          • KimJ

I think she has blocked people outside Canda

          • Lindsay11

Yeah, but I’m not in Canada and I could still see it yesterday when everyone was saying that.

          • U Really That Dumb?

            But you are “Special”
            🙂

          • Lindsay11

            Woozle wuzzle!

          • KimJ

Her “friend” has already posted on the FB page

    • U Really That Dumb?

Have you come clean with your:
      Family
      Friends
      Clients
      Employer
      Etc.
      ????????????

It’s much better coming from you than them reading about it in the paper or The Google!

      • KimJ

She will hide it from them and play the victim card. She is the one being bullied. She will say that we are blaming her for stealing photos and when people see her page she will say “See, I don’t have stolen photos they are all mine”.

        • BullShite

“Why did you have to remove photos and close your business?”

“Oh all of these terrible people were BULLYING ME for NO REASON! I don’t undersand! I didn’t to anything wrong! Whaaaa!”

          • KimJ

Nope nothing at all. They were jealous of my photography.

          • BullShite

“Of course they are honey! Your work is AMAZING! I know that I’m your close friend and not a professional photographer, but I am telling you how AWESOME you are, so it’s true! Everyone that is close to you, who are also not photographers LOVE what you do! That selective coloring is AMAZING, it’s like magic!”

          • KimJ

Thank you but I have no idea why they are bullying me. It must be a competitive photographer in my area.

      • KimJ

You know what pushes it up on Google? Is you search the name and open this page from the search.

        • Lindsay11

see attached, this site is second on her search

          • KimJ

Yip and soon it will be at the top. BTW I think she has closed her FB page. I can’t even get cached copies.

          • Lindsay11

            Her fb is completely down?

          • Justin Case

yes, looks like it may be. Link takes me back to my newsfeed now.

          • MPR1776

Update, images for Kelly’s dream now include…tada!….stopstealingphotos

          • Lindsay11

            I love when that happens!

    • U Really That Dumb?

      Kelly,
You failed to mention that you WERE told the day before that you had stolen images yet YOU decided to do nothing. So guess what, YOU YOURSELF brought all of this on! TWICE! Once by stealing and again by telling the world to F-Off when you were caught.

    • reginassissimo

OMG…. now it’s Google’s fault… :/ Oh and by the way, you’re right (for one screen cap that I saw here) you didn’t find any watermark, you just edited out a LOGO and replaced them for your own.

“I apologize to whoever the photos belonged to” It’s like speaking to no one in particular, but I’m going to be optimistic and think that you forgot to add the D to apologize, which makes a big difference.

“I realize know that I can’t use google images for marketing” Well I do hope that now you realize that you as a PHOTOgrapher cannot ever use the WORK of other photographers, even if it is not found on google. It’s like NIKON using CANON cameras on their advertising (For those who might violently react to this, just an example)!

    • Oh come ON …. dont play the “children upset card” this is just a lie for sympathy … you children/kids are NOT going on your fanpage and reading the comments and getting upset. That is Utter Bull!

    • KimJ

Lets carry on with the lying game. You have not removed all the photos http://www.kijiji.ca/v-photography-video/napanee/kellys-dream-photography/595544402

      • Lindsay11

BAM! I knew you would find it Kim YAY!

      • Marc W.

“Oh, I forgot about that one.”

        “and that one.”

        “and that one…”

      • KimJ

She is still reading this page because these have been taken down and the listing is gone.

      • Lindsay11

No Longer Available – Kelly’s Dream Photography

        Huzzah!

    • BullShite

Also if you are that “new” to photography that you just can’t understand why images on google are not “free” and how using the work of others to advertise your business is WRONG……. YOU ARE NOT READY TO BE TAKING PEOPLE’S MONEY, OR RUNNING YOUR OWN BUSINESS DOING THIS!!!!!!

Having a camera does NOT make you a PHOTOGRAPHER!!!

      .

      • Lindsay11
        • BullShite

No wonder Liar Kelly stole from Real Photographer Kelly…..

You know how you prove to the world you know you are not up to par? YOU STEAL.

        • Melinda Potter

          At least …eh hem… They’re honest?

          • We all started somewhere, but when my photos looked like this, I didn’t charge anyone. I hope she takes this is a good lesson and really learns how to take good photos so she doesn’t have to steal them.

          • Marc W.

I agree. We all started somewhere… and people learn the craft before entering out on their own / charge. As mentioned, it seems a lot of these fauxtographers think that they can make a quick buck and don’t’ really care about the craft.

        • Marc W.

Isn’t that bottom one still the same design / format that she stole?

          • Melinda Potter

If she bought it, she got ripped off, or didn’t read the instructions. It doesn’t quite work does it?

          • Aspect ratio? What that?

          • Lindsay11

            I think so.

        • Courtney

Whoah whoah whoah, she’s shooting births? Not cool. Even a wedding you get to set up your shots. There is nothing like a birth. You can just shove it back in and say, “one more, I didn’t get that last one.” I have been shooting births for 6 years, and trust me Kelly, you’re not ready.

          • Wait what do mean you can’t shove it back in?? They can try lol!

    • Bobbi

You are a liar and a cheat. Unfortunately, your children will learn to steal as well. Perhaps you should give up photography and go into something else.
Maybe you should have thought about stealing someone elses work and claiming it as your own before you made the critical error of posting it.
If your work isnt that good and you feel you have to steal someone elses work, you should definitely find another line of work. And teach your children the right things.

    • Melinda Potter

      Kelly’s Dream Photography,
When I was new to photography and didn’t know a lick about copyright, or any of the legalities of the business of photography I still managed to not break any laws or upset anyone in any way. How? Why? I was so completely concentrated on learning my camera and the craft that I was oblivious to anything else. It has absolutely NEVER crossed my mind to post other people’s photography as my own or use other people’s images to promote myself. I’m honest with myself and to others almost to a fault, and have a deep respect for the people who are in this industry legitimately and have put their heart and soul into their work.
I realize not everyone feels about photography the way I do, not everyone has good work ethic, and not everyone will follow my same path, but let’s get honest here…
You bought a camera and thought “cha ching! I can make money with this thing!”. Not “I want to learn how to convey with this camera. I want to learn all I can”. You’re pissing on an industry that you claim to your audience is important to you. I find THAT hateful and hurtful, and I won’t stand for it. None of us will. I know you feel it is “hateful and hurtful” to talk about the images you have made, but your images prove that you are not in this for anything other than as an attempt to make a quick buck off as many people as you can until you move on to something else. Couple your carefree (nicest way I can put it) approach to making pictures with the fact that you used photographs that are not your own, to sell your professional services to the public and it’s clear you are not in this for self enrichment or to provide the best service and products you can to your customers. You are a fauxtographer, only pretending without care or concern about the people you hurt along the way. It shows in your work, and in your business practices. I would love for you to prove me wrong, stop with the marketing, and step up to the plate to truly learn how to photograph, so possibly someday you can provide your future clients with photographs that took care, talent, and knowledge to create, but I don’t think you have it in you. Not everyone is a photographer, and that’s ok. But, don’t think for a minute that you can pull the wool over eyes that can see the difference.

    • Melinda Potter

BTW watermark or no watermark, you still knew they were not yours.
Not everyone uses a watermark (even though it’s probably the first thing you worked on, or spent any sort of time with). I don’t use watermarks and I have plenty of company who also choose not to use them. That does NOT mean our pictures do not belong to us or they are somehow free for the taking

    • Ric New

Sorry, don’t believe it. If you’re that “new” to photography what you doing opening a business? Copyright, I believe, is a basic photography topic that ANY photographer should know about. Would a “new” doctor open an office without knowing about HIPAA? Should an account open a business without knowing what a W-2 is? Should a furnace repairman go out on his own and start a new business without knowing the regulations surrounding a red-tagged furnace are?
I suggested to you earlier to LEARN photography before opening a business and you responded that you have been trained in photography. If you have been “trained” like you claim, then either you didn’t pay attention during the all important copyright topic was discussed or you considered reading the manual for your camera was considered training.
I’ll repeat myself. Its kind of simply. LEARN photography, then PRACTICE photography and then after awhile you’ll have enough of your OWN images to use for samples.

      • Marc W.

Most of a photography business is the business end. She is not a business person.

        • Ric New

Don’t understand your response Marc. “She is not a business person”. So its understandable she didn’t understand copyright?
Probably very few of us know everything about copyright. But come on, the most basic, you can’t use someone else’s images.

          • Justin Case

Kelly Fraser has proven that she doesn’t understand the legalities of copyright and more importantly the ethics of how to properly represent a legitimate photo business. Ergo, she is not a photo ‘business person.’

You are both on the same side. Just wanted to clarify that.

        • Actually, she apparently is a business person. She is a Honors Graduate, BUSINESS ADMIINISTRATION from Clark Business College.

          http://ca.linkedin.com/pub/kelly-fraser/67/44/634

          • Justin Case

did you see any grade for ‘Ethics?’ Or perhaps they stopped teaching that to business students, just like they did lawyers here.
            (insert snarky face icon here)

      • MPR1776

I have to agree with you, one of the first things you learn is not to take pics of people with trees (or other objects) popping out of their heads and yet, this is the exact type of image she is using on Pinterest to represent Engagement Photography.

    • V323

You unequivocally negate your supposed apology by turning this in to “oh poor me & my children”.
The majority of comments made on your page were factual, and while painful to you given your actions, how you RESPONDED shows the photography community you in fact do not care you purposely stole images.
Also, FFS, it’s YOU’RE not your.
Finally, the whole “I will only comment once” is such a coward’s way out. You needn’t have even bothered to comment once, if the whole point to is to lie to make yourself feel better, then armadillo up in a ball & go home. Either join the conversation, or don’t, but certainly don’t think anyone reading this believes 1) you’re contrite b) you’ve learned a lesson c) won’t do it again. You’ve demonstrated already you are incapable of taking responsibility for your actions.

    • Justin Case

Kelly, I don’t want to address your post point by point, but I have to ask:

Can you tell me what exactly is the ‘lesson learned’ from all this? I ask this in all sincerity, as I would be happy to calmly and without malice explain any of it to you.

PS: it is not usually considered good form to open a post with “I will only comment here once” as it tends to put everything after in a negative light. If you want all this to go away and maybe even turn into something beneficial – a true lesson learned – you should engage in the discussion, not just hit-and-run.

      • I think she may have learned “try harder not to get caught” 😉

    • Regardless of whether or not you meant to harm anyone, your actions did just that. Whether intentional or not, when you harm someone, a mature adult does the right thing to remedy the situation. What steps have you taken to make this right? Anything short of a public acknowledgment and apology on all sites you posted the stolen photos to, a call to each photographer whose work you stole apologizing and paying for the use of their images, and removing all images from every site you own is not good enough. You may be in denial about that, but hopefully the truth and severity of this situation hits you soon so you can still make it right. Be a good role model to your kids whose well being you claim to care about so much.

    • captain-confuzzled

As I understand it your children are adults, so if they are upset, I’d say that is a good thing and shows that maybe they have some ethics, hopefully provided by you at some point in their lives.

      • peaceetc

Wait, what? They’re adults? If that’s the case, then they aren’t delicate flowers who need protecting. Even if they are actual children, then Kelly could use this as a teaching moment to show them actions have consequences, and no amount of denial or trying to cover it up can change the truth.

        • captain-confuzzled

yep, seems that the little ones in so many pictures are grandkids (image)

          • peaceetc

Obviously those grandkids are too young to be able to read. And since she has grandkids, I seriously doubt she has children young enough to be protected from all of us meanies. I hate it when these people try to make us feel sorry for them and it turns out to be another big lie.

          • BullShite

Who would have thought that the “apology” would be full of lies. Never seen THAT before over and over again.

          • doncalifornia

All photo stealers think we’re stupid. You have to think everyone is stupid in order to engage in such fraud. That’s why we get all those colorful excuses every time. They are seasoned experts at making shit up, and they get away with it most of the time. But not here, and that is why they get so upset with this site. “This has to stop!” LOL

          • Helena

You’re such a bully Don. *flounces away* 😉

          • doncalifornia

LOL yes I am. Which is why stealers “comment here only once.” 😉

          • doncalifornia

Which reminds me: I think we need a bingo square for “I am leaving one comment here and never coming back.”

          • BullShite

            Yep.

          • Helena

I thought they only commented once as they only had enough bullshit excuses for one comment. Learn something new every day. 😛

          • Lindsay11

She picked a bad lie too, because no one here is going to care if her children are upset. I mean, no one wants to upset kids! It’s just… that’s kinda on you, photo stealer, not us.

I’m surprised there wasn’t an illness pulled out. Maybe if she had posted more than once…

          • So if she has “grand babies” that would mean her children are full grown and consenting adults.. they would have no reason to be upset at anyone but their mom for this coming out in the open …smh

          • KimJ

It seems like her private page is also down

    • peaceetc

Are you absolutely positive no one contacted you before Photo Stealers made this post? This is a sincere question, and one I think deserves an answer. Especially since you deleted the questions I (Celine Chamberlin) posted on your page. If you had answered them there, I think they could have helped you clarify things. It’s really unfortunate you’ve taken the course of action you have, Kelly.

Regarding Google Images — every single image preview on there says at the bottom: “images may be subject to copyright.” Personally, I think that needs to be more sternly worded and be in a huge colorful font, because so many people overlook it.

Please contact the photographers from whom you stole. Don’t expect them to read your comments on here, as they very well might never see it. Even if they did, it’s not good enough. Each of them deserves a private apology. And know there are very real (and very expensive) legal consequences to what you’ve done, and those photographers have every right to pursue them. Copyright infringement is against the law. You violated that law. Your apologies to them are way overdue, Kelly. Do it now before you make things even worse.

And please, for the love of whatever it is you believe in, do not use others’ images to promote your own photography (even if you legally purchase licenses for them). It’s misleading, because clients would hire you based on false information. That’s not cool. It also violates Facebook’s terms of service, as you are only supposed to post images you have permission to use.

Stop deflecting and own this. It doesn’t matter if you knew about copyright stuff or not. The fact is it happened, and it’s on you. Act accordingly. Thank you.

    • Photographer stolen from

Thank you for your apology! I hope you truly learned how incredibly wrong it is to take another person’s work and claim it as your own. Nothing posted on the internet is available for use, unless it specifically says so. A few other bits of info you might want to add to what you have learned. 1) The photography world is a small one, and word will get back to the copyright holder. 2) There are a thousand people taking screen shots of what you post, those screen shots will serve as proof of what you have posted, and those will follow you wherever you go, including court if it comes to that. 3) Blocking the US Facebook users won’t prevent US Facebookers from seeing what you post, we all have friends who live in Canada who can still see, and screen shot, what you are posting.

Now, to address the watermark issue. You state, “I googled images and they were there….no watermarks – I never removed anything from a photograph”. This is untrue. Several screen shots of removed watermarks and logos are presented in the post above. I have attached an image to this comment to show a watermark was on my image. You conveniently covered up my watermark with one of your images. I can assure you, my photo was never uploaded to the internet without a watermark.

      • Photographer stolen from

not sure why my photo didn’t post, trying again here

      • peaceetc

Your photo was never uploaded without a watermark. That says everything right there. Of course, the last photo stealer said she had some magical software which automatically removed watermarks and replaced them with hers, to the point where it seemed to be utterly beyond her control. Maybe they hang out together and use the same software. 😉

    • Michael Goolsby

      Dear Kelly,

I will post here only once, too. Both your conduct of theft and your post have vexed me greatly, so I will try to maintain my composure and respond calmly with reason, grace, and professionalism. Ok… here goes…

Are you fucking kidding me????? You used images you did not personally take to advertise your own business and you didn’t know this was wrong????? And what about the ad designs? You know, the ones where you took our the real photographer’s name and inserted your own??? You even kept all of the ad wording and prices!!! Are you asking us to believe that YOU are that stupid???? , Or are you just calling us a bunch of stupid assholes by expecting us to believe this crap???? And then playing the victim card, too??? Upsetting your children??? ARE YOU FRIGGING SERIOUS??? And what is the deal about other people having to tell you what you can and can’t do?? Why in the living hell is it someone else’s responsibility to come to you and say “Hey, these belong to someone else”??? What the hell is the matter with you??? WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU??? Are you a frigging thief and a liar??? Or just a thief and a frigging MORON?????? Answer me, you low life lying thief! ANSWER ME!!!!!!!!

Whew… that may have gotten slightly out of control. As I warned, I was indeed vexed by both your thievery and your less than believable explanation. You see, Kelly, it’s like this… we’ve heard all of the excuses before. We’ve seen the denials, the faux apologies, the lame excuses. We’ve seen the victim card, the religious card, the ignorant card, the pro bono card, and the beginner card. Like parents who have already raised nine children, we know how to read the tells of the tenth child even though they believe that they are being awfully clever. So do yourself — and us — a favor. Put aside any notion that you’re going to pull the wool over anyone’s eyes. If you’re going to disappear from photography like so many others, then disappear. But if you expect to ever be a professional in this field, then put aside the bullshit and make things right. The photography community is not an unforgiving one. They just won’t tolerate trying to be made victims or suckers.

      • U Really That Dumb?

Wow @michaelgoolsby:disqus, when I saw your name pop up I assumed you would go ballistic and open up a can of whoop ass on Kelly Fraser of KELLY’S DREAM PHOTOGRAPHY IN NAPANEE, ONTARIO IN CANADA. (Yes Kelly, this does boost the search on Google so when your employers, volunteer organizations like the MS Society of Canada {https://www.facebook.com/MSSocietyCanada}, kids and grandkids search your name they WILL find out everything). But no, you really restrained yourself! I’m impressed! Well done!
        Fucking = 1
        Assholes = 1
        Hell = 3

        Thief = 3

      • O_0 <– speechless!

      • Lindsay11

That sound you just heard was me picking me jaw up off the floor. You tell her Michael! lol

      • C Sab

If only I had gotten here first, I wouldn’t have been so composed.

    • Ex Photo Nerd

Hiding behind the mum card…good one.. real classy

  • V323

While slightly off topic, for future posts.

    • BullShite

Seriously, someone somewhere has to know how to program a sidebar that will randomly generate one card per user & we can play bingo with each other.

      • I design stuff like this, among other things, for a small government department at my day job. I’ll have a hack at it after my wedding season.

        • Helena

          YAY! 😀

          • BullShite

That would be the BEST. Vodka popcorn for the winner!

        • Lindsay11

OMG Really? I want to play! You’re awesome Eric.

    • captain-confuzzled

hahahaha, LOVE the free space in the middle!

    • doncalifornia

      This is pure gold.

    • Photo Stealers

The free space has so much win. I love you.

    • Helena

I’ve just noticed the use of investigoogling and vodka popcorn. Excellent!

      • Lindsay11

I think my favorite is “You are endandering my family and defamating my integrity”! LOL

I wish there was room for “big name entertainment lawyer”

  • Fanpage is gone again … (in canada)

    • KimJ

She will delete everything and she won’t come back here and read the comments, or if she does she won’t reply. She is a coward, I am almost 100% sure we haven’t seen the end of her.

      • U Really That Dumb?

The thing is, this doesn’t go away. Some day, one of her friends or co-workers will Google her and find out the truth. Heck, employers and volunteer organizations are doing it not only for pre-employment, but on a regular basis. Especially in positions where government reporting is required by law.

The way she has dealt with this will end up biting her in the butt. Either through her family, friends, work, or places she volunteers.

      • C Sab

Pretty much every thief this site exposes is a coward.

    • KimJ

sorry messed it up a bit hope you can make sense.

  • Lindsay11

Kelly has so many bad reviews! I think she’s trying to change names and hide all these 1 star reviews. https://www.facebook.com/dreamphotos67/reviews

    • Can’t see it..

      • Lindsay11

I am shocked, SHOCKED, that you are banned from somewhere, Joseph! I’ll attach a few pages. No surprise, it’s mostly people who have seen this page.

  • You can’t fix stupid

She made it to “So You Think You’re a Photographer” https://www.facebook.com/fauxtographersrus/posts/973133526037053

    • Me, Myself and I

      The post got removed?

      • Thats the thing with facebook sharing if the user deletes their images from fan/personal page its removed everywhere.

        • You can’t fix stupid

She shut down her page but started a closed group. Like who the hell is going to see that??? refresh to see image

          • Melinda Potter

“Photos are being removed from my page and used on other pages” You mean your photos are being linked to and discussed on other pages that discuss bad/careless photography? Isn’t this the point to sharing them in the first place? So they are seen and shared? The only time the share button is a bad thing is if people are honest about what it is they are looking at? Oh wait no… ONLY if what is said is negative in anyway. Check. Got it

          • Removed from her page???? Lol hilarious!

          • Marc W.

Wait, does FB even allow businesses to have groups like that?

    • You can’t fix stupid

And you should have seen the messages she sent! Will try and get a screen shot

  • You can’t fix stupid
  • Kelly

So even when a person owns up to their mistake and contacts the individuals involved personally and offers retribution, you still find it necessary to poke fun at them and call names? It must be awful to have so little to do in a day. You go to the business page and like the page….for what reason?? To continue torment, ridicule their images, things they say….maybe you should all find something better to do with your time…..I can’t imagine having as much time as some of you do to dedicate to picking on people.

    • Helena

Who was poking fun or calling you names?! Where?

      • Me, Myself and I

She was briefly featured on So you Think you;re a photographer.
Negative critiques == Name calling apparently.

        • Helena

FFS. Negative critique can hurt but then you put on your big girl (or boy) pants, take it on board and try to improve. Critique is vital. It’s how you get better. If you can’t take criticism on your work without throwing a hissy fit then you shouldn’t work in a creative industry.

You gave some valuable advice up there which I think everyone featured on SYTYAP should read!

    • Celine (peaceetc)

Kelly, it’s not unreasonable for people to want to make sure you aren’t stealing others’ work again. We do that with all the stealers here, because a fair number of them steal again.

As for calling you names… I assume you’re referring to the person who called your work horrible? I prefer not to address the quality of other people’s work, but people are entitled to their own opinions. Regardless, that’s not calling you names, it’s criticizing your work.

By the way, regarding the So You Think You’re A Photographer thing (which is an entirely separate site from this one), I suggest you educate yourself as to how Facebook’s ‘share’ feature works. It’s not stealing to use that feature — it’s a perfectly normal and well used part of Facebook itself. You may not like how people are sharing your images, but don’t say your images are being ‘removed’ from your page and being placed elsewhere. That’s just wrong, and amounts to nothing more than a lie. If you want to protect the privacy of your clients by not allowing their images to be shared using one of the main features of Facebook (or any other social media), then don’t post their images to Facebook.

    • Unsolicited critiques hurts sensitive artists all over the world.
Dont forget you put yourself out there and now you are famous.
You re-branded and we can see your real talent behind the camera some of us now know see why you stole images in the first place.

I mean who wants to steal images that is worse than their own work.
      (cheap jab)

    • Factitious_Detector

That’s ok, it’s part of being creative hate to say it. I took private art lessons once – watercolour – for shits and giggles, and I got my arse reamed a few times for kind of sucking… but you know what, I can goddamned paint well with watercolour now.
Had the teacher been “nice” I would still suck. Promise.
Sometimes negative criticism of your work is the best thing that can happen to you.

    • Me, Myself and I

1- This site has nothing to do with “So You think You’re a Photographer”.
So … not sure why you are coming here to complain.

2- I saw the post … it was a very bad picture.
At least its one of YOUR pictures and not a stolen picture but it was bad.

I’ll be brutally honest here, none of your images are really any good. Now you could throw a hissy fit or you could do the mature thing and look at your images critically and SEE what we are talking about.

The following isn’t an attack … it’s a critique … it’s meant to help you.
a- Fake white vignettes died like 20 years ago. Even fake black vignettes are to be avoided,
b- selective coloring is 99% of the time used in a poor attempt to make a bad picture interesting. Instead it makes a bad picture even worse.

c- Unless your name is J.J. Abrams (or actually ESPECIALLY if your name is J J Abrams) don’t do fake sparkles and lens flares.
d- Learn the art of fill flash and how to choose your location. You have shots with strange shadows over your subjects faces or severely
e- Get the flash off camera and/or learn how to bounce your flash.
f- Learn to get a proper exposure, you have shots that are seriously underexposed. Shooting in RAW and then compensating in post can help a bit

But kudos on not stealing … anymore.

    • You can’t fix stupid

When are you going to stop lying? Your images were not “lifted” they were ‘shared”. And guess what, they had the right to.
You should read and take in what was said. Critique is the best way to learn and grow. That and remove the selective color and vingettes

    • Marc W.

Did you post that you came clean on your business page on FB?

      • You can’t fix stupid

        No she didn’t

      • Celine (peaceetc)

It’s funny how these stealers never seem inclined to take public ownership of their actions, isn’t it? They never want to admit what they’ve done to their clients, potential clients, friends, and family. Yet they have the audacity to get mad at us because we don’t believe them when they say they’ve done everything they need to do to rectify things.
