The 1st link is gone and it just happened cause I had it open and when I refreshed it was gone.

Looks like both are gone now. Should we start taking bets on how long until they start with denials?

He also had a urdaybyjay.com and flashlifeproductions.com but it seems this is gone. I wonder if he’s just out there robbing people, and changes the company name as needed once he’s outed.

  • U Really That Dumb?

Let’s just nip this one in the bud, shall we? I know, it won’t work, but let’s pretend it will.

To JAYFOTO FILMS aka JAYFLASHLIFE in Orlando, Florida,

Welcome to the world of being outed by Photo Stealers (Stop Stealing Photos). It is our goal to root out and put a stop to photography copyright infringement. Your outing is one step towards that goal. You used photos you were not authorized to use, which is illegal. You’re probably confused and angry, so let us try to help you get a handle on things by giving you a checklist of things you should be doing and not doing.

Please do NOT do the following:

    1. React with anger, go into denial, or start in with the threats. We already have the evidence against you. The best thing you can do for you is to be honest and to deal with this head on.

    2. Flag comments on this listing. The mods will just put them back, so don’t waste your time.

    3. Lie or offer excuses. We have heard every excuse in the book (really, we have. One guy even blamed Obama.), and you will not come up with something we haven’t heard before. You are not a special snowflake. Nothing you can say will justify what you did, so don’t bother.

    4. Accuse us of slander (because nobody ever figures out it has to be verbal to be slander). We stick to the facts, and if something is publicly available, it’s fair game.

    5. Create fake accounts to defend yourself. We will see through it, and it’s just a waste of time.

    Please DO the following:

    1. Remove any and all stolen images immediately. That means now. Right now. And no, simply hiding them from public view doesn’t count. They need to be completely deleted.

    2. Apologize DIRECTLY to those from whom you have stolen (and tell the truth!), and offer monetary compensation. You used their images in a professional setting to try to make money, so you owe them that much.

    3. Hope they don’t sue you. Copyright infringement is illegal under the law, and you can be sued for thousands of dollars, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, for EACH stolen image. Yes, seriously.

    4. Apologize publicly, on all the sites and social media accounts where the stolen work appeared. Again, you owe it to your clients, fans, friends, etc., to be honest.

    5. Learn about how copyright works. Look up the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. What you may think you know and what is actually the truth are probably two different things (as in: no, posting someone else’s photo as “inspiration” is not a valid reason, nor is it good enough to provide credit. If you don’t have express permission to post someone else’s image, then you don’t post it. That’s it, the end).

    6. DON’T STEAL. It’s not complicated — if you didn’t take a photo and don’t have permission to use it from the actual copyright holder, then don’t use it. It’s that simple. Yes, seriously. You claim to be a photographer, so why on earth would you want to use others’ images, anyway? How does that make sense?

    And remember:

    1. If you do it again, you will be caught. We go back and check old listings to make sure they haven’t started stealing again. And don’t forget — Google knows. Anytime someone searched for your business, this listing will come up.

    2. Think about the actual victims here (no, not you) — those whose images you stole. You screwed them over. And frankly, that’s a pretty damned crappy thing to do. And think about the clients you’ve mislead by presenting a false front. They’re victims, too.

  • Christopher C.

    Look what I found. http://orlando.es.craigslist.org/evs/4693582396.html

Which led me to a Wedding Wire page including a different company name and address: http://www.weddingwire.com/biz/ur-day-by-jay-orlando/5a2536cd7034fec3.html

That in turn led me to a Youtube page: https://www.youtube.com/user/jayntanya08242013/

Per the Youtube, his name is Jay Martinez.

  • Photo Stealers
    • Christopher C.

It’s worth noting that this Facebook account is against their terms of service. Joint accounts aren’t allowed.

  • Photo Stealers

    This session: http://www.jayfotofilms.com/2014/11/11/bo-beccas-engagement-shoot/

is from a workshop with The Hons.

  • keca

Did anyone get any other screen shots of his Thumbtack reviews? Just curious how many couples he left stranded without a photog.

  • Jay Martinez

Hey what’s up guys this is Jay. Just wanted to admit I did steal half the photos from symbol I apologize for that and just like to point out I don’t steal brides money. I’m actually a wedding videographer But over time demand for photography got bigger and I needed content to fill up my website. HUGE MISTAKE! I used the best samples out there (symbol photography) I’m willing to offer donations to the blog and symbol photography as an apology. Again I’m sincerely sorry.

    • Christopher C.

It’s one thing to use photography as content to fill up your website. It’s quite another to take credit for other photographers’ work. Both are crappy, but the latter is particularly nasty. Every one of your stolen galleries says “By Jay Martinez” listing you as “author” and that’s incredibly scummy. You knew EXACTLY what you were doing.

      • Jay Martinez

Yes I completely agree. at this time, ive owned up to it, ive apologized, ive taken down all the photos that are not mine and can only try to step up and do whatever else u suggest.

        • Christopher C.

Fair enough, and that’s a good start. But you can’t leave it at that and expect it to go away. You need to individually contact each photographer from whom you’ve stolen and inform them how and to what extent you’ve misappropriated their work.

PhotoStealers is merely a facilitator in exposing photo theft.

          • Jay Martinez

definitely i will do that now. it was only from symbol photography. i will be contacting them now if they havent already seen this. im an up and coming wedding videographer. if u can check out my other work and please let me know if u like it. jayfotofilms.com is still up. everything there is mine. i always wanted to get published but in a good way of course. as a bonus i meant it when i said im willing to donate to this blog and symbol photography

          • Me, Myself and I

            You say that but ….

            http://regex.info/exif.cgi?dummy=on&imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jayfotofilms.com%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2014%2F11%2F2014-11-12_0004.jpg

The EXIF on this file says:

            Creator | CAP Photography
            Rights | CHARLIES ANGELS PHOTOGRAPHY

          • Jay Martinez

yea it was a typo on my facebook a long time ago and since then all my photos say that

          • Me, Myself and I

A typo in Facebook? That info is set in the camera or in Lightroom (or whatever editor you are using) and has nothing to do with Facebook.

It is the embedded meta data info INSIDE the file and contains everything from camera model, lens, aperture , shutter speed … sometimes even GPS info (depending on your cameras capabilities).

If this IS a mistake then you might want to change the settings on your cameras and/or editor.

          • Jay Martinez

yea man all my photos say charlies angel photography, i dont know how to change that. and i already proved that engagement photo was mine how do i go about having u remove that one?

          • Helena

Did you buy your camera second hand? It’s pretty simple to change the © info on a Canon. Look it up in the manual.

          • captain-confuzzled

this may be a bit picky, but I would like to see a photo taken today with the old meta data and then one taken today with the new settings if it is just old settings in the camera.

          • Jay Martinez

ok ima take a photo right now for u guys. and yes i bought all my stuff from craigslist. dam that makes sense and thats why the meta data thing will still be on it. now i get it why u want me to take photo ok ima do it now for u give me 15 minutes dont leave lol

          • Jay Martinez

i used the 5d with 50mm 1.2 and posting another photo with 7d sigma 30mm 1.4.. the photos were 3mb and blog only allows 2mb so i took a screen shot of the photo to make it smaller. now it should upload. let me know if i need to do anything else. im willing to stay here commenting as long as i need to, in order to fix this mistake.

          • Jay Martinez

can u guys see the photo? i dont see it posted

          • U Really That Dumb?

You have to post the ORIGINAL photo, NOT a screenshot.

          • Jay Martinez

did that work? i posted original photo.. and have u seen his facebook now that its public

          • captain-confuzzled

Thanks Jay, yes we can see the photo, and I did look at Albert’s FB page. Unfortunately the info we need to see about the photos don’t show up when posted on this blog. Can you post them on your website instead? You can take the post down after we look at the info.

          • Jay Martinez

of course doing it now for u give me 5 minutes it will be on jayfotofilms.com

          • Jay Martinez
          • Helena

            Thank you

          • Jay Martinez

likewise! thank u for commenting. hopefully the admin can remove that post about albert.. however theres still one problem. i dont know how to remove meta data from my used bought camera and old photograhers watermark thingy. so any new photos will still have the same charlies angel photography embeded. any suggestions? @ helena

          • Helena

Changing the exif information is done in the camera menu. Off the top of my head, I don’t know which one. It didn’t come up with CAP for me this time though.

          • Jay Martinez

definitely ill do that this week

          • Jay Martinez

i dont think the admins care if u apologize and prove what work is your. whats yours still wont be taken down from what i see. at the least i will be an example to everyone else that it might not be worth replying and proving your innocence :/

          • U Really That Dumb?

            1) The admins DO care!
            2) You are NOT innocent. You stole pictures! You stole TEXT!

          • Jay Martinez

the text were tips i wrote from google. and reason im suggesting that the admins wont remove anything its because from what i seen in alberts situation where i proved those were mine and nothing has been done

          • U Really That Dumb?

GOOGLE IS NOT A REPOSITORY OF FREE THINGS FOR YOU TO USE! YOU STOLE!

          • Jay Martinez

u still have not commented on why admins wont remove alberts photos. im just curious if they will remove photos that i proved is my work. because nothing has been done yet

          • U Really That Dumb?

How about the fact that it’s THANKSGIVING WEEK? People spend time with family! If it takes until next week you’re going to have to accept that fact and learn that things don’t happen on YOUR schedule. Remember, YOU are the thief in this situation!

          • Jay Martinez

yea i mean that makes sense that its thanksgiving but that didnt stop them from updating all my links or probably posting someone else tommorrow. they have time for updating and uploading new stolen content but not remove proven work? and i just wanted to point that out. i know for a fact a week later or a month later it will still be up.

          • U Really That Dumb?

Seriously dude, you need to wake up and realize that YOU are NOT the victim here, the people you STOLE from are! Besides stealing photos and text, yes, you STOLE TEXT and still haven’t admitted that, you are now coming here demanding that admins remove a photo showing YOU screwed up and don’t know how to change EXIF?
AND, you admit that you are not an LLC but doing this on the side, so the chance that you have insurance is slim to none. The PUBLIC deserves to know all of these things! They have a right to know what they are getting into if they decide to do business with you.

          • Actully you are wrong the admins/moderators actually do care when outed stealers tell the truth … since 99.99.0.1% of the time the lie.
So I raise my hands and thank you for you honestly … makes it easier for everyone to move on.

          • Jay Martinez

yea i know its getting kindah old to read all these comments and i appreciate u being one of the few for recognizing the fact that i care enough to be honest and step up admiting guilt, but was just wondering why moderators wouldnt remove alberts photos and the simpsons guy couldnt tell me why, and every time i ask him a question he goes off topic about me being a criminal, which i am and i get that but i just wanted a simple question answered but have yet to know the answer to that u know..

          • U Really That Dumb?

Take all of your gear to a local camera store and beg them to show you how it’s done.

          • Marc W.

            And how not to steal.

          • Me, Myself and I

I posted a link earlier on how to do it .. it;s dead simple.
            http://www.foto-biz.com/Canon/Copyright-details

          • Marc W.

We’re in the internet age where people go online to get other people to do things for them. That includes steal from people and show them how to do everything without lifting a finger to help themselves.

          • Me, Myself and I

It’s why I stoped visiting Yahoo Answers …

Guy: “How do I do this on my camera?”
Me: “Page 12 of your manual.”
5 minutes later … down vote!

          • Marc W.

Yes. This and “I just bought cameras off Craigslist and I need help because I want to shoot weddings.”

          • Me, Myself and I

Had one guy not understand that the 300$ he was charging to shoot a full day wedding was not 300$ of profit and that there was a CODB.

“I don’t get all this math dude, I show up, I shoot, I walk out with 300$ in my pocket.”

            AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!

          • Marc W.

How about read your manual and create your own work.

          • Helena

This blog strips the exif out of the photo. The pictures need to be posted somewhere that leaves it intact. Ideally your website.

          • U Really That Dumb?

            Posting a screenshot strips data.

          • Jay Martinez

ok now i see the photos

          • U Really That Dumb?

You need to post the ORIGINAL! Screen shots show nothing.

          • Jay Martinez

ok doing it now. in the mean time albert made his profile public. theres a lot of content on his facebook to prove his page is real and ill work on the original photo for u now https://www.facebook.com/alberto.echeverri.581?fref=ts

          • Jay Martinez

ok i took a jpg instead of raw photo so that i could post original

          • Helena

Jay, this isn’t working. There is no exif information on those photos. You need to upload the files, without editing, to your website so that the information remains in tact. We can’t check anything from these.

Sorry to be picky, but you’d be amazed at how many people lie about this stuff.

          • Me, Myself and I

I’m sure one of the admins will check it out. (I’m not an admin, just a regular viewer).

Here is how to change your info in Camera on the 7D:
            http://www.foto-biz.com/Canon/Copyright-details

As far as changing it in whatever software you use? Not sure, depends on the program (Lightroom, Capture One, Photoshow/CameraRAW …)

          • U Really That Dumb?

What are you asking admin to check?

          • Me, Myself and I

Jay has admitted to stealing some photos but claims that a few of them are actually his (not all, just the engagement pictures Cap and I had found tagged with another company name).

I’m not saying we should remove them but that someone should look into it and maybe remove those images as examples of stolen work IF his story can be verified. 🙂

          • Jay Martinez

yea hopefully the admins look into this post that u posted atleast and take that one down. and yes i use lightroom but that happened on facebook i long time ago i was typing a description of the photo and it tagged charlies angels photography and now everytime i upload on facebook its already typed in for me.

          • Helena

The CAP bit is in the exif info of the camera or in whatever you use to process, not Facebook. I can understand it if you bought the camera second hand, but otherwise it makes no sense. I found pics taken on a 7D on your site that didn’t say that.

          • captain-confuzzled

Jay, please stop and think for a second. Facebook is notorious for stripping the exif data, and the pics we are talking about are on your website – what you are saying doesn’t really make sense. At best, you have some learning to do, at worst…well we won’t go there at this moment. You seem sincere, but you keep making mistakes.

    • Me, Myself and I

Good of you to admit and come clean.

Do you realize what this would have (and actually still could) cost you if the photographers decided to sue you? Up to 150000$ per image and add another 2500$ to 25000$ per water mark removed (if you did remove any watermarks).

On top of that, if you can’t produce work of the same quality as the one you stole, your clients could sue you for false advertising.

And on top of THAT, the brides and grooms who photos you used could also sue you for having made commercial use of their likeness without a model release.

My suggestion at this point is take your sites offline for a couple of days to give you time to run through every single photo and remove ANYTHING that isn’t yours that and hope that the photographers you stole from are the forgiving sort … had it been me, you;d have already received a letter from my lawyer.

      • Jay Martinez

thats for the recognition. i was looking on here at all the other photo stealers and realized i might be one of the few that actually comment back and admit guilt. when u mess up i think it makes u more of a man to just step up and admit it and learn from it. people will respect u more. and in my case hopefully offer suggerstions on how to become a better photographer. for when i have that demand but i mainly try to stick to video thats why i was taking a short cut and just posting any photos i could find so when i was asked if i had experience i can show them that work but come to think of it was a huge mistake because i had plenty of work of my own to show considering like the engagement shoot from albert that captain thought wasnt mine. that tells me my works wasnt that bad and i shouldve just kept mine up instead :/ sucks

        • captain-confuzzled

the fact that I thought the work wasn’t yours has nothing to do with quality or lack of quality (and I won’t comment on that), it is solely based on the meta-data in the photos, with a copyright notice of a different photographer.

        • Marc W.

“when u mess up i think it makes u more of a man to just step up and admit it and learn from it. people will respect u more. ”

Actually, i think the opposite. A person with integrity is a better man then one that has to apologize.

          • Paul G.

Adding onto that, a person who apologies because they recognize and regret doing something wrong is better than someone who only apologies because they got caught. We’re willing to be forgiving, but you can’t expect to be instantly trusted just because you posted an apology. We get a lot of thieves who initially apologize when they get caught with the hopes that this will all go away and let them quietly rebrand. Many people here are willing to help you become more legitimate though, and with time you can earn that trust back, but it takes way more than 24 hours.

          • Jay Martinez

yea i definitly understand it takes more then 24hrs. so ill definitly keep checking back and take my time proving it to you guys. i would like my jayfotofilms website to be left alone and this blog to be removed. if at all possible. i know u said i seem like everyon else that goes back to stealing photos so it wont be removed in 24hrs but ive also proven that im different in the fact that i still care enough to reply. and that also tells u that i definitly dont want to go through this humiliation again so i definitly wouldnt steal content every again. i welcome everyone to follow my page and see it grow over time with my own content. maybe i can be a success story from this blog about a turn around. and id gladly accept your help to become legitimate and in time forgiveness and trust from the blog community

          • Marc W.

Why do you need us to help you become legitimate?

          • Jay Martinez

i wouldnt even know where to begin. i would shoot weddings with a cellphone and call it a day if i was able to but the photos wouldnt come out good of course so i got a better camera but now the next step would be to become legitimate. can u provide links. im serious please dont laugh, take my comment as serious as u have the other. provide links or names to websites or steps to do.

          • Marc W.

Shoot your own stuff and only post your own stuff. It’s NOT that hard!

          • Jay Martinez

yes sir. i will. i know your busy so i wont ask but if u ever find the time to send me a link on the steps that would be awesome. i have a camera and a website and i plan on shooting and posting my own stuff. but if u get a chance please send me what u did next after u bought your caemra and got your website. how did u get bookings? i went to thumbtack and did the weddings for $200 dollars . they were happy but i still dont have my business legal i dont know what website to sign up to make my business legal.

          • U Really That Dumb?

Hire an attorney! No, seriously, HIRE AN ATTORNEY! You’ll likely need two. One that will help you start your business and one that will do their best to keep you out of jail.

          • xma1e

            I smell a wind-up, don’t you?

          • Marc W.

            Wind up? Rebrand?

          • xma1e

            definitely

          • You can’t fix stupid

You have just admitted to running an illegal business. *smh*

  • captain-confuzzled

so, Jay, you said everything you have left on jayfotofilms is your work.
Wonder why the pics in Albert and Sharon’s engagement shoot show that
they are a copyright of another photographer? Camera used is also different.
(attached) (sorry for the double attachment)

    • Jay Martinez

@captain thats definitly my work. heres is the link with me actually recording the groomsmen on the tripod getting ready for his wedding. i did his wedding photos and video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9RCabT7NMY&list=UUxktRZyUhMlKZ1-bIbonRug&index=7 at the beggining of the video you will see me

      • captain-confuzzled

the pics on the site are of an engagement shoot, not the wedding.

        • Jay Martinez

i didnt want to invade someones facebook privacy but if u insist you are correct then feel free to check out his facebook account i just left a comment on there asking him to verify i did his engagement photos https://www.facebook.com/alberto.echeverri.581?fref=ts&ref=br_tf

          • captain-confuzzled

So, you are saying that the person who has their name on the pics as copyright holder stole from you? Would you verify what camera you used (make, model)? That would help.

          • Jay Martinez

yea i actually have two cameras 1 is a canon 7d and the other is a canon 5d but i shot that photo with a sigma 30mmm i believe since then i have upgraded to 85mm 1.2 and 50mm 1.2

          • captain-confuzzled

you are not making this easy. the lens you mention doesn’t match your fotos. sigh.

          • Helena
          • captain-confuzzled

Helena, yes, I see that one, it is the other camera where the lens doesn’t match.

          • Helena

            I’m getting the other camera as a 5DII with a 50mm f/1.4 and also a 7D with sigma 30mm or EF-S 18-135mm. What did you find?

          • captain-confuzzled

He said 50mm f1.2 – most photographers know EXACTLY what equipment they have.

          • Helena

Yeah I’d sell my kids for that lens.* It’s a pricey bit of kit.

*I wouldn’t really. I wubs them too much.

          • Jay Martinez

yea i sold the 50mm 1.4 it wouldnt focus. i stil have the canon 7d with the sigma 30mm. but im just going to make it more simple im goin to have albert make his facebook public and u will see his years of history that its a real facebook page with his wife on there once u confirm his page is real which will be easy to do then u will confirm that the cover photo he posted was from me which he already tagged me in to comfirm that. i just need him to make his page public

          • captain-confuzzled

I would prefer that you do not ask Albert to make his page public for our benefit. You can easily prove the mistake about the copyright by the method I mentioned, and it won’t involve him. He doesn’t need to be involved.

          • Helena

Yeah I would rather someone didn’t have to sacrifice their privacy when there’s an easier way.

          • Jay Martinez

ok please check the link https://www.facebook.com/alberto.echeverri.581?fref=ts&ref=br_tf and look at his cover photo. poor guy i had him stop what hes doing at work to then tag my personal facebook page and my old facebook page jayflashlife you can all see it now

          • captain-confuzzled

I see that. Jay, I’m really not trying to be difficult, but there is nothing else on that FB page to show that Albert really created that page, you could have easily built it – may sound crazy but we have had photo-stealers do that and more on occasion. As I said below, what would prove it for me, would be for you to post a picture taken today that has the old camera info (before you change the 7D settings) and then again, after you do. That would prove it beyond doubt for me that you have the camera in your possession.

    • Jay Martinez

this photo i proved it was my work but the admins havent removed it :/

      • Celine (peaceetc)

Wait, Jay. We need time to sort things out, and you need to have patience. Again, you aren’t doing yourself any favors by harassing people, so just stop.

      • U Really That Dumb?

So? It actually helps your case but I guess you can’t see that.

      • Helena

To be fair, having a record proving this was your work looks better on you. Have patience. These things take time.

        • Jay Martinez

thank u helena. celine and of course simpsons guys lol and ok i will take my time. i feel it does help my case if this photo is removed because it proves that all other photos taken with chalies angels photography exif data was from my camera.

          • U Really That Dumb?

            EXACTLY!
NOW, admit you stole other pictures and text, delete everything, pay up to everyone you stole from, and then you might have a right to come back here and ask for something.

      • U Really That Dumb?

When are you going to remove every piece of stolen text from your site? Why haven’t you done it already? WHY should anyone here do anything for you if you’re too lazy to remove, or even admit to, stolen text?

        • Jay Martinez

done removed everything that i could. im not that experience with web design i didnt even create my own but i just went and deleted everything it allow me to do

          • U Really That Dumb?

Sorry but I call BS. You still have things on your page that don’t belong to you. If you don’t know how to delete individual pieces, delete the page and start over. As for what, we aren’t going to tell you. That’s something you need to take responsibility for.

          • Jay Martinez

yea i just deleted the whole pricing tab that i didnt know how to edit.

so theres absolutely no content text that is not mine on my website

          • U Really That Dumb?

Too bad there is STILL stolen work on your page.

          • Jay Martinez

please provide i link i assure u there isnt. at this point your making things up dude thats not cool im being very compliant and now your making false assusations atleast im been honest and if u feel anything is stolen i assure u there isnt. if u what u say is true provide a link for everyone and put me on the spot

          • Jay Martinez

please provide a link theres isnt one thing on my page that isnt mine

          • captain-confuzzled
          • Jay Martinez

yea i just removed that one now must’ve missed it..sorry about that… ok finally a fresh start. my website is my own 🙂

  • U Really That Dumb?

    Jay,
You asked what your next steps need to be. See the post pinned to the top.
The way I count it you have at least 5 different photographers you need to be sending apologies, and finding out how much money they want you to send them. It doesn’t matter how much they ask for because as you’ve been told already, you could be in the hole for a few MILLION dollars on this one!
So as has been suggested, remove your page and go through it with a fine tooth comb. If you weren’t the one pushing the button, or wrote the ORIGINAL text, remove it. Only once it’s 100% clean should you even think about reposting it.

    • Jay Martinez

ive contacted symbol photography and offered $100 which is all i can afford everyone has my facebook they know i have a baby on the way i cant afford anything more then that. symbol has yet to reply. im glad u were able to confirm charlies angels photograpy was my own work and that the meta data was from an old photographer that i bought my camera from on craigslist. im still waiting on the admin to remove alberts post. but i dont think they will do that although i was told if u can provide proof the work is yours it would be removed. is that why no one replies to comments on here or bothers to prove its there work..

      • U Really That Dumb?

I am sorry about any other issues going on in your life but realize that you could loose every penny you make for the rest of your life. If they come back and ask for FULL damages, you need to find a way to pay them right away, or hope they take payments. Judges don’t care what other issues you have going on. They would force you to sell all of your gear, house, car, etc. to get at least a chunk of that payed off.

As for removing a post, are you talking about Captain’s post questioning the EXIF? At the very least it shows that you have no idea how or what EXIF is. While being stupid isn’t a crime, it certainly does come in to play in a court of law should the people you stole from come after you.

As for contacting ONE person you stole from, you need to contact EVERYONE! Remember, the proof is posted above that you stole from a number of others!

        • Jay Martinez

yea i understand, im not an llc or anything i was just doing photography on the side, its pretty clear that no matter what i do the admins wont take this down or else they wouldve contacted me or replied with reasonable expectation and steps to take in order to get the posting remove. which i think ive already done, and been pretty compliant as u can see, including proving that alberts photos were my own with an old meta data from that used bought camera from craiglist. if they wont even remove that then its pretty clear they dont really care about me doing the right thing and at this point nothing i do will get alberts post remove nor any other one :/ but hey atleast i tried and i can be an example for the next guy that sees this and i can possibly save him an hour or two from having to defend himself for no reason u know

          • U Really That Dumb?

            DID YOU STEAL? = YES
Why should PS remove this posting? YOU STOLE! Your future clients need to know that you stole.

          • Jay Martinez

your still avoiding my question about albert i thought they remove photos that u prove are your own work..

          • U Really That Dumb?

What photo? In the original post, or a comment?
Again, if it’s the comment, YOU are the one that failed to remove the EXIF on YOUR camera. Captain was asking about it. That’s on you.

          • Jay Martinez

ok so your telling me that even though i proved the photo (albert and sharons engagement) was mine because i didnt remove exif data it is now stolen photo aswell and will never be removed from this blog?

          • U Really That Dumb?

WHERE IS IT? Are you ever going to answer that question?

          • Jay Martinez

where is what? the photo proving its mine? i uploaded a new photo with exif data on my website so u can do your magic thing and match it with my other photos to see that the exif data is old from a used camera that i been taking all the photos with http://www.jayfotofilms.com/photography/

          • U Really That Dumb?

Where is the photo you are begging to have removed?

          • captain-confuzzled

            *deleted*

          • Celine (peaceetc)

Jay, you just posted the info a little while ago. It is the day before a major holiday, and the person who runs this site has a life outside of this site. You need to have patience for any response from them. The mods here in the comments don’t run the site itself. The only person who can address whether your listing gets removed is Photo Stealers. Do not harass people, because you certainly aren’t doing yourself any favors.

          • U Really That Dumb?

He’s not asking for the blog post to be removed, he wants a post removed that actually helps his case but I guess he can’t see that.

          • Celine (peaceetc)

Ah. Either way, he needs to chill out.

          • Jay Martinez

i mean if them can remove the whole blog post that would be good but i doubt that lol i messed up and should be held responsible which is embarrassment for a month or two and pay the blog and symbol photography $100 each. but when they get a chance it be nice if they atleast remove the work that is mine. sorry for harrasing u guys. i try to reply quick so u dont think im ignoring u guys. but if u think i should stop replying let me know to. does anyone else have any questions..?

          • U Really That Dumb?

This page doesn’t want your money.
You need to concentrate on apologizing to ALL, I mean ALL of the people you stole from! Symbol is NOT the only one! Have you even looked above to see all of the evidence against you?

The chance that this blog post comes down in a month is slim to none. YOU are a known thief. That’s something you should have thought about long ago. Now you’ll have to deal with the fallout the rest of your life. Remember, actions have consequences.

          • Helena

I would ask the photographers/writers whose work you used how much they would like rather than offering $100. If you want to donate to the running of the site.

Likewise, I’m sure it would be appreciated, but bear in mind it won’t affect this posting.

          • Jay Martinez

definitly id be glad to donate. please feel free to contact me directly i can paypal or debit 407-360-4912. im going to keep my phone number and jayfotofilms so u guys can track my progress and see if i grow as a videographer in the future maybe u guys can work with me and if this blog gets big hopefully i can become famous or something with my own work in the future

          • Helena

I don’t run the site. If that number is anything to do with bank details, please remove it. Don’t leave yourself open to having sensitive data stolen.

          • Jay Martinez

no its just my phone number to contact me directly

          • U Really That Dumb?

When are you going to delete the rest of the things that don’t belong to you?

          • Jay Martinez

i deleted all the text from my website. theres absolutely no text that is not mine.

          • captain-confuzzled

Actually the metadata between the old pic and the new pic don’t match as fully as I would expect, but I’m not an expert in all of the details of the intricacies of differences in metadata, so I am willing to agree that you have done all that you can to prove that the foto is yours. If I were you, I would think that you would rather have this part of the conversation stay here, because it shows the efforts you have made. I asked about the info, and you answered. That is a good thing. People can read your side of it all and come to their own conclusion. Given that the other stuff you did was very clearly stealing, at least this part shows that you went to an effort to prove yourself on the Albert photos.

          • Jay Martinez

            thank you captain

          • chuck knuckles

No, it’s not ‘now stolen as well’, it’s shot by an idiot who went into business before he knew how to use his equipment.
Important information for your future customers, and should not be removed.

          • That admin of PS will remove any image that is not actually stolen. When they get online and verify it .. we only moderate.

          • xma1e

And you’ve been avoiding apologising to ALL you stole from.

          • xma1e

Seriously, you repeatedly playing victim and slagging off the Admins not dropping everything to rush to remove the only picture you didn’t steal, shows your true colours and lack of sincerity.

  • Steve O.

Jay, I’m a local photog here in Orlando. I quickly read through the posts here so I may have missed a thing or two but wanted to say a few words. First, I want to commend you for stepping up and admitting that you padded your portfolio with someone elses photo’s. It’s a rare occurrence here when someone actually “mans up” and takes responsibility for their actions and it is refreshing to see rather than the usual denial and lies which usually follow and eventually make matters worse. The second thing I wanted to voice is the wedding industry here in Orlando is a pretty tight knit group of folks. Bad press is no bueno and could potentially be very difficult or next to impossible to shake no matter what your skill level could be. As a photographer I often get asked if I provide video. My answer is quite simple…weather I have the gear to do it or not….I always say I prefer to leave it up to the videography pro’s and refer the people that I know and trust will do a killer video. I understand the willingness to want to say yes…but sometimes it’s best to specialize in one thing…..do flippin awesome in that one thing and develop a good name and following. When the time is right….the rest will follow. Just my two cents. Again, I applaud you for stepping up to the situation. Happy Thanksgiving!

    • Jay Martinez

happy thanksgiving to you aswell steve. thanks for your input. i appreciate u taking the time to comment u didnt have to write those kind words. its relieving to hear some positive feed back in between all the mess. and yea im going to just stick to video unless its photos of my wife and my future daughter on the way, but other then that i think this taught me a lesson and im done offering photography. i wouldve showcased the wedding photography i did but most of the brides didnt look that great and i was scared to showcase ugly work. so thats when i resorted to stealing hoping intime i could replace it with my own work but that didnt work out to well. again thanks for your comment steve

      • captain-confuzzled

sounds like a great plan Jay! I also appreciate that you came and made the efforts that you did.

        • Jay Martinez

thank you so much captain. ive been doing damaged control for a couple hours now and explaining to everyone my faults :/ it wasnt easy to admit my wrongs but its actually easier then denying it. no point. id rather learn from it and get advice. maybe ill be known in orlando now as a wedding photography stealer but then turning into a good videographer lol maybe im stretching my fantasy but who know maybe i will get popular and a photographer will want me to be his videographer because he likes my honesty have you seen my latest wedding i did this

and have original footage with my dji ronin to prove it

          • Photo Stealers

I was out of the office for most of the day. What image that I sourced above are you saying is yours that I need to remove?

          • Jay Martinez

that photo. apparently this blog actually taught me about exif. my camera has the exif of another photographer (charlies angels photography) i bought the camera from craiglist. if it wasnt for this blog i wouldnt of learned about exif. so user name captain thought that an album from my website titled albert and sharons engagement session was stolen aswell as all the other photos on my website taken with my exif camera. if that makes any sense. so i make the original client albert make his facebook public and tag my facebook showing its my work and i also uploaded a new photo to show that the exif still matches. so i proved that was my photo and also admited my guilt for the rest of the photos on the links u posted aswell as removed all the copy plagiarism text from my website. but i had doubts if all that i was doing was pointless if i wouldnt even be able to remove alberts photo let alone this blog about me. but as i can see now maybe there is some hope if u can read all the comments (take your time theres a lot) and then make your decision and contact me 407-360-4912

          • Photo Stealers

Honestly, I think it’s best for YOU if I keep that comment up. Quite a few people kept commenting and emailing saying that session was stolen as well. If you lose that comment and the thread showing you did take it people may still assume that image is stolen on your website.

          • Jay Martinez

wait yea your actually right.. u make a good point. keep it up lmao. in time how would i be able to comply and get the complete blog removed? if u cant i completely understand aswell. was just curious because i know in the past photographers have gotten theres removed from what ive read

          • xma1e

The blog stays as long as PS is running and îs never removed.

          • Me, Myself and I

Eugh … did you properly licence the music in this video from Emelie Sandé?

        • Jay Martinez

thank you hopefully it makes a difference when the moderators read all the comments. but its not in my hands. ill let them be the judge. they already know that im willing to do what i can on my end to get the blog removed. have a good night captain ttyl or tommorrow or whenever u reply with a future comment lol

        • Marc W.

          “F” for [his] effort

          • captain-confuzzled

I didn’t say his effort was successful, just that he made it, and that he did. 😉

    • You can’t fix stupid

Padded??? lets just call it what it is, he STOLE

    • xma1e

There’s nothing manly when you get caught, only when you own up before you’re caught.

  • Double standards

I find it more than a little hypocritical of some of the regular posters here. Jay has admitted what he did, he manned up and did all the steps to rectify what he did.

He owned up, admitted it, was helpful and polite and seems to be genuinely sorry.

He did all the things that Jeremy Cowart did when he was caught and you were all VERY forgiving and understand of him when he did the same.
In fact you were fawning over him, praising him telling him he acted the way all people whoa re caught should act.

Seems pretty damn hypocritical of some of you to not give the same response to this guy.

Could it be because you were afraid of Jeremy’s position on the industry? Were you just a little start struck?

Tell me how you justify the way you have treated Jay even after he has tried to make amends and why you are much harder on him than you were on Jeremy, someone who is a leader in the industry and probably should have known even better how wrong it was.

    • U Really That Dumb?

I find it rather hypocritical that you come in here and comment without reading all of the other comments.

Jeremy apologized and removed ALL stolen content immediately. He never once attacked the people here. He never continued to lie about what was and wasn’t stolen. He never played the ‘it was on Google so it was free to use card’. Oh wait, yes he did, but again, he never lied about taking everything down when he knew full well he didn’t. Jay has yet to admit that he stole from more than one company. Yet the evidence is there that he did. See, THERE is the difference. Perhaps you’d like to read all of the comments below before jumping to a false conclusion.

      • Jay Martinez

@double standards I really appreciate u stepping up for me it takes a lot to do that because u just made yourself a target against mr Simpson he’s tough. I’ve apologized countless of times and told him half the content on my website and all the links p.s posted were true and I did forget some of the text that was on my website but removed it soon after he told me about it. But mr Simpson is just to upset to forgive me and I don’t blame him I should be frowned upon. Hopefully he will come around to seeing my side and be a little forgiving. I’ve admited everything I think it’s just a mis communication between me and mr Simpson because he is so upset that he can’t see that I apologized and he can’t see things in the light that u and someone like me captain and Celine do who have forgiven me :/

        • U Really That Dumb?

          Jay,
What you are failing to understand is you did not apologize for everything you stole. Perhaps you should go back and read everything you posted.
As for people forgiving you, not from what they have said here, or away from here. They forgave you for the EXIF screwup. NOT for you stealing images and text. BIG difference!
As for me being upset. I am upset you continued to lie to us and then demand we do things for you. That’s not how life works. It’s sad that this is the first time in life you’re learning this.
I am also sad that you are here commenting rather than immediately deleting everything as you were told more than once, and tracking down everyone you stole from, finding out how much you owe them, and getting the money together to pay them every penny they ask for.

          • Jay Martinez

@simpson guy So wait u work for the blog? That’s why your replying so harshly? I was wondering why u take it so personal. Bro I’m sorry relax. And I already took everything down. There nothing on my website that isn’t mine provide a link if I’m lying. I’ve been 100% honest with u but it doesn’t seem to matter. I don’t know what else it can do to make u happy besides Aparently pay millions of dollars wen I’m over here struggling about what crib I should get and if I should even buy a stroller or just carry my baby girl when she’s born because I have rent to pay. I offered the blog and symbol photography $100 which that itself would put a strain on my finances but I offered it out of curtesy because I feel I should pay what I can afford for my mistakes but your just being unreasonable. And as far as the rest of the content there was only 2 other photos taken the rest was from symbol photography and text from google blogs word for word. If there is anything realistic I can do please let me know because I’ve done all I can. I’ve spent all day here replying to u but everything I say u always respond negatively.

          • U Really That Dumb?

Nope, I don’t work for the blog.
I’m replying harshly because you have lied to us all day long.
You were only willing to remove things once you got called out time and time again. Until then you didn’t do a thing.
As for you paying $100 to the blog. Is that a bribe? Seriously, what would the Florida AG’s office say if they were to investigate you for fraud?
ONLY 2 other photos? Seriously dude you need to grow up and realize that what you did is 100% illegal! You STOLE to the tune of well over $1,000,000.00 in potential fines and added costs!
Let’s also remember, you apologized only for the images from Symbol, not the others, or the text. ALL of it is theft and can be used against you in a court of law. Especially in a fraud case filed by any number of people including victims and the AG.
As for me being unreasonable? Why don’t you tell that to the prosecutor or the judge and see how far that gets you. Not far. They will both tell you that everything you’ve been told here is MORE than reasonable and will want to know why you decided to come here demanding things you had no right to demand, or to cop an attitude with the people that caught you.

Honestly I think everyone gets it. They’ve seen your comments and they’ve seen mine I don’t have an attitude I’m not even mad at u or anyone. Your the only one that is very hostle. U scare me man. I don’t want to even piss u off or meet u in person I admit that. There’s people that see your side and there’s viewers that see my side that your a little uptight. But it’s ok I don’t hold it against u. U feel strongly about theft and I happen to commit the crime. So u should be all I was saying was if u could lighten up a little but that’s all man. I’m sorry. There’s no excuse I stole everything fine u win bro. Now chill man.. Now I know how it feels to be cyber bullied it’s pretty scary. Again I’m sorry mr Simpson and your right about everything I can’t argue try to get some sleep tonight man don’t let it stress u out all this is going to make u go crazy u take other peoples problems to personally. It’s not healthy what are u going to do after this blog gets old and time passes and Tommorrow a new blog post shows up…

          • Paul G.

I think most people get it. You are not one of them. Of course you’re not mad at anyone, why would you be? You’re not the victim. URTB isn’t being hostile either, he’s being very blunt and honest trying to get you to realize exactly how serious this is. You’re treating it like you got your slap on the wrist and that’s that. You committed a serious crime, and less than a day later you’re asking that people “lighten up”. That’s not how the real world works, and if you think URTB is being harsh you should consider yourself incredibly lucky that nobody has decided to press charges yet.

You are not being cyber bullied, and I have to stress this again, you are NOT a victim. This isn’t someone else’s problem either. You might not have stolen directly from URTB, but that doesn’t mean you get a free pass from him or anyone else. Just because you steal online does not make it a victimless crime, and that applies to anything you lift from Google, whether it’s text or photos or whatever else.

You say that you’re genuine in your apologies and you want to make amends. Well, part of that means accepting the consequences of your actions, which I again want to point out could be so much harsher than just getting outed on this site. You’ve already admitted your guilt, if anyone of the original photographers decided to sue you would owe hundreds of thousands of dollars. I’m not as knowledgeable on the business side of things, but I’m sure there’s some hefty fines associated with acting as a business without the proper registration etc. And I’m sure that the original writer would be able to push things if they really wanted to.

When people advise thieves to contact the original owners it’s honestly beneficial to the thief because it helps to reduce the chances of them pressing charges. Even if it’s a clear cut case as is here, not many photographers want to go through the court room hassle when things can be settled through direct communication. Many are even very generous and if they believe the apology is genuine won’t ask for any financial compensation, despite it very much being within their rights.

          • Jay Martinez

Dam u sound like a lawyer and yea I understood most of it. Again I’m not an llc or anything I’m just a guy that bought a camera off craiglist fort own wedding last year and eventually wanted to give capturing someone’s else’s wedding a shot but needed a website so I stole content to fill up my website faster. Not an excuse but just saying I’m not a professional I didn’t know how serious of a crime this was until now or else I definitely wouldn’t of done it. Hopefully everyone can see that I didn’t mean any harm. I feel like the biggest criminal on earth right now and that I’ve been put on the map for it. So it’s a lot more then a slap on the wrist if I had the money is rather pay that then have this guilt trip feeling I’m experiencing right now

          • U Really That Dumb?

What name are you registered through the state as? Do you have an EIN?

          • Jay Martinez

whats an ein? i have a social security number

          • Marc W.

Yea, sure sounds like you need to learn business.

          • U Really That Dumb?

Have you talked to a lawyer about running your business illegally? Because you have been. You’ve hung a shingle and advertised yourself as a professional photographer. That may be a felony in Florida.

          • Jay Martinez

no thumbtack didnt ask if i was a professional. and the people i did weddings for i didnt tell them i was a professional i just told them i can shoot good photos. i learned on youtube. and i havent talked to any lawyer about running a business legally because they cost a lot. i barely have gas money to get to my job every day. 711 only pays 8.50 an hour. my checks are approx. $300 a week and thats working over 40 hours a week off the clock because they want me to fil the cooler and complete job dutites but im stuck cashiering everyday. so when i finally get a chance is when some comes in for third shift and i finally clock out but i have to still do the job duties i couldnt get to because i was cashiering all day and thats what pushes me over 40 hrs off the clock in case your wondring.. as u can see this is why im trying to change over to wedding photography because it pays more, but i dont even want to do photos i want to do videos. so if any photographers need video i can do it for you i live in orlando

          • U Really That Dumb?

Do you see this little tab called “Pricing” and this little comment where you said “company”. That’s you saying that you are a professional. So you lied there again didn’t you? You are still lying now by having it up there.
Am I being harsh? No, I am being REAL! GROW UP AND TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY!
For those of you that are “on his side”, go home and learn the law! What he did could potentially land him in prison for a long time in Florida. It’s also stealing from every hard working honest photographer in the industry.

          • Jay Martinez

there is no such link where i said i was a company and my pricing page was completely removed as requested by u. i removed everything instead of keeping it up and your still not happy. i give up man. atleast everyone will know that i tried. why would anyone want to argue with u. i sure cant even explain myself like i said before without u being rude. then u wonder why everyone else doesnt bother to explain things to you. but atleast i told my side and everyone will see a thieft side of things and why certain people like in my case do what they do. not that its right but atleast everyone knows my story and why i did it. similar to a criminal when he kills someone and everyone asks why and he tells them it doesnt make it right that he told them why he did it but atleast it satisfy’s everyones curiousity by him being honest. have a good night mr simpson. i need to get some sleep. i need to bring my wife to my mothers house for thanksgiving. my jayfotofilms is kindah ruined, but atleast i met some really nice people that are sincerely here to help and guide u the right way instead of badgering u to death. at this point if the blog is taken down that be great, but i would probably miss everyone here, the nice and the bad. i felt like as if i got to know all of u people and your opinions and you personalities. its pretty cool. im going to officially be a blogger i realized i like expressing my feelings and talking to people even if i never met them. you guys are all great sincerely. i really enjoyed most of this conversation, wish the topic wasnt about me but still was pretty interesting to the point that i wouldnt want to lose contact with u guys and i feel comfortable coming back to this blog and asking sincere advice because u guys will not laugh at me. u might be mr simpson might be mean but he will atleast tell me the honest truth whether its if a certain photo is ugly or if i need to buy a certain product. ect. hes harsh on me but i think over time he will lighten up. i have faith in that. and hopefully we can become friends and i can meet him and post a photo with mr simpson that i have officially become a real business and he helped me get there.. i dont know it might be far fetched but hey ill keep my hopes up.. good night mr simpson and everyone else aswell. 🙂

          • U Really That Dumb?

Actually, I screen captured that FROM your page. And the PRICING is still there.

The only people that argue with me are ones that are lying. I make sure I have the evidence first.

As for jayfotofilms being ruined. That’s 100% all on you! YOU ARE NOT THE VICTIM!

          • Jay Martinez

i still love u man. try to get some rest. talk to you after thanksgiving. enjoy your meal and let me know how your thanksgiving went on friday. im not ignoring u tommorrow i just have to dedicate time to my family so please dont get offended and curse me out tommorrow because i dont reply fast enough. 🙂

          • Paul G.

Okay, I’m going to put my dad pants on for a moment. Firstly, I’m going to reiterate that you don’t realize how serious this is. Just because you deleted the stolen material here doesn’t change the fact that you committed a crime. You could still be sued by the original owners.

Secondly, stop trying to victimize yourself. Unless I missed something nobody has said a word about you responding slowly or anything like that. On the contrary, not only do you seem to be quite on point with your responses, but you were harassing Corey about removing one of your images despite the fact it hadn’t even been a day. We get this tactic a lot, where people try to draw sympathy to lessen accusations. Whether you were doing it intentionally or not, that’s what it comes off as. Really, one of the best things you can do in these situations is take responsibility without trying to deflect, justify, or make excuses. I’m sure many of us, if not the majority, have all struggled financially and had difficulties trying to move into a new job. We didn’t resort to stealing though.

As far as I have read, everyone here is legitimately trying to help you and nobody is trying to bully you. I think people are just getting frustrated because it doesn’t seem like you’re taking this seriously. You’ve basically said “oops my bad” ditched your page and act like that’s the end of that. You’re already talking about moving on to other enterprises.

I sincerely hope that you take the advice that has been given here if you really want to go ahead and try to get into video recording or blogging or whatever else you want to do. To be completely frank, you got very lucky that this didn’t end worse for you (and hopefully won’t) but it doesn’t seem like you’ve really walked and learned anything. Nobody here wants to see you make the same/similar mistakes in the future. Seriously, if you have any questions about starting your own business, do not hesitate to ask. I don’t recall if the usual links have been thrown around yet, but there are plenty of knowledgeable people here that are willing to take the time to at least point you in the right direction because, and I don’t mean this to be insulting, you’re way over your head right now.

I’d also highly recommend getting in touch with anyone you stole from if you still haven’t done that. I know you tried to contact one company, but if I’ve read the comments correctly there are several others that you need to get in touch with as well. Just be sure to clearly explain what you did, inform them that all of the stolen content has been removed, and offer to compensate them if required. Don’t bring up your financial situation right away, but if they do pursue that course of action, try to work out some kind of payment plan.

I honestly think that in your situation the original owners are willing to be forgiving. Seriously, being the one to approach them can do wonders, even if it was forced from being outed on here. You’d be surprised how few thieves ever actually do it. And again, if you do legitimately want help or want to learn, please don’t be afraid to ask, just understand that some people might be rather…strict in the way they answer.

          • Jay Martinez

i work for 711 gas station and bought a camera and do photos on the side. thats why im asking how did u guys become famous and get known and become real photographers

          • ALP

You really need to stop asking the people here to help you with your photography career. You need to focus on making amends. Apologize publicly to the clients you misled and privately to the people you stole from. And, for the love of god, stop copping a tude with the people on this blog. The snotty remarks undo anything an apology may have accomplished and if you are taken to court, which seems likely from some of the other comments here by Symbol Photo, that will actually hurt you.

If you want to be a photographer, you need to work at it, practice, shoot photos — actually be good at it — before setting up a business. That is the last step, not the first one. And no, YouTube videos do not count.

          • You can’t fix stupid

What?? your biggest crime is that you got put on the map for this? Are you freaking kidding? You have committed a serious offence. If you had stolen any of my images you would be talking to a lawyer.

Have you actually, personally contacted all those who you stole from? the photography and the blogs?

Your FB page – your personal one and private one – have you posted an apology? and made it public?

You say that you brought a camera off Craigslist. No problem but why the hell didn’t you even look into copyright laws and protection? why didn’t you study? Did you seriously think that by owning a fancy camera you would make money?

It isn’t an easy job being a photographer. It takes lots of hard work and dedication. You have had your camera for a year and you already have a business page, that is just crazy.

It takes years to get to the level where you can open a business page. Start with photography groups in the area and work up from that.
The famous photographers got where they are due to hard work and not theft. Bringing your family and personal life into this makes no difference. You stole, you knew it was wrong, you have no one to blame but yourself. Don’t think you will get sympathy votes with this story, you won’t.

And yes URTD is hard (cough, cough) because this is the big wide world. Life is tough and you think this is a joke. I really don’t think you know how serious this is. I don’t think you will ever be able to run a business if you don’t read and research first. This bloody stupid mentality of “bang I have a new fancy digital camera and now I am a professional photographer” has to come to an end.

          • U Really That Dumb?

            Let’s do a little math:
            Used 5DII: ~$1500
            Used 7D: ~$1000
            Used 50mm f/1.2: ~$1000
            Total: ~$3500
Making $300wk it would take ~12 weeks (3mon)
That doesn’t include the other lens, or any CF cards.

Has anyone checked with Charlie’s Angles Photography to verify they sold the camera on Craigslist?

          • xma1e

We get it, we’re just not buying it.
            You play the victim well.

          • xma1e

passive aggressive. The very first post outlines what to do, have you done it yet?

        • xma1e

          Jay
You are very passive aggressive, attacks on the admins and members here, your clients too!

          • reads all but never comments

MAYBE this guy is just so ( let’s be nice ) “new” to the world of photography that he literally knows next to nothing about how most of it all works ( camera included as well as business practices )

Definitely not defending in anyway. Pretty obvious that he doesn’t really have a clue as to the gravity of what he’s done – and that would easily explain his lax attitude on all this.

I think, he thinks this will just go away now. “Yep I got nailed. I admit it. I’m sorry. I’m removing all said items” It’s not a candy bar from the local 7-11; you can’t just put things back with a “oh my bad, bro” attitude. I agree he fails to see the seriousness.

But.. I don’t see him attacking or even being rude to anyone here. Just some guy who literally has zero clue. “If I’m really nice and compliant – this will be over quick and I can go back to normal”

          • xma1e

That’s the beauty of being passive aggressive, Read some of his comments about the Admins not responding to remove a picture that is his during Thanksgiving and some of his replies to “U Really That Dumb?”.

    • Jay Martinez

      @MJ:disqus
im sorry for keeping u up aswell mj. you have a great thanksgiving. i
have to go to bed soon aswell my wife is already sleeping, but i been
trying to explain myself instead of ignoring all the messages so thank u
for pointing that out. hopefully u dont get a lot of backlash for you
comment, takes a lot to write that. if your ever in florida or anything
ill volunteer on a photoshoot for u just to learn something. im very
eager to learn and have my own content

      • MJ

TY for your reply Jay, however I don’t see my original post on here, so not sure how you saw it?
I am assuming the moderators did not like what I had to say. Amazing how the posts that are contrary to the lynch mob postings don’t make it on the page. Yep, way to run a blog…..Please jump in and post your opinion, so long as it mirrors our own.
And don’t say it is because I am unconfirmed, this is a CONFIRMED Disqus account. Censorship at it’s finest!
        SMH

        • Me, Myself and I

Or you know, Disqus being buggy as all hells.
Disqus isn;t exactly known for it’s stability and as far as censorship, go see the other blog entries … it takes a hell of a lot for comments to get removed from here.

        • Celine (peaceetc)

Your first comment had been marked as spam by someone. When that happens, the comment has to be manually approved by a mod. I have just marked it as approved.

          • MJ

Thanks Celine. I should note now that I was too quick in my support of Jay. After seeing more, since, I have my doubts now as to his sincerity. I will however hold out hope.

        • captain-confuzzled

Censorship, naw, I doubt your post was worth censoring, but hey, I’m not a moderator, just a poster that has seen a lot of pretty out their opinions that stay up on the site. It takes a lot for anything to get censored here.

        • Photo Stealers

Not censorship. Your comment was marked as spam and since it’s a holiday weekend I’ve been busy doing other things than moderating PS. Sorry, pie wins.

        • ALP

No one ever gets this right. Even if your comment was removed, since stopstealingphotos is not a government entity, it’s not censorship. This is a a privately owned blog and you don’t have any rights to say anything here, any more than you would have the right to come in my house and yell profanity at me. Censorship can only be done by the government.

          • Christopher C.

“since stopstealingphotos is not a government entity, it’s not censorship”

“Censorship can only be done by the government.”

I agree with your sentiment, but these two statements are very, very, VERY false.

          • ALP

This is a very basic explanation that I got from the media lawyer I work with. I’m not sure how a private entity could be accused of censorship since they would be acting on what is basically private property, be it digital or physical. I’m not a lawyer though. I just listen to what one told me.

          • Christopher C.

You misunderstood, or they mis-explained. It’s wrong. Anyone anywhere can censor anything. If I say “F**k,” I am self-censoring. If I say “Fuck” and a blog turns it into “F**k” I am being censored.

It may not be government-imposed censorship, but it’s still censorship.

          • U Really That Dumb?

            You are both correct.
However, in the US, you only have legal recourse against the government, not a private party or business. Other countries are different.

          • Christopher C.

That’s true, but I’m not arguing what legal remedies are available. I’m solely arguing the definition of “censorship.”

Saying “only a government is capable of censorship otherwise it’s not actually censorship” is in no way accurate or correct.

          • Helena

I get your point, but why argue about it? It’s not important. It’s arguing for the sake of it.

          • Christopher C.

Because it’s actually VERY important. People throw the law around without actually understanding it – we see it all the time from outed thieves claiming “fair use” and “it’s not copyrighted because there’s no watermark” and similar things.

The second one of these thieves comes out and says that they have a right to use other photographers’ photos under fair use and demanding they be removed is “censorship” (if that hasn’t already happened), this community is going to need to fully understand what censorship actually is to argue against it.

Education of the law is a valuable thing.

          • Helena

This blog is not about the definition of censorship, (and honestly, I don’t agree with yours), it’s about copyright infringement. If it was, I’m pretty sure someone would stop me from telling you to bore off with your pedantic hole picking. We are not the enemy. We are not the ones who stole other people’s work. We are not the people you should be putting effort into arguing with. So please, for the good of all mankind, stop. Think of the children!

          • Christopher C.

This blog is about copyright infringement. The comments are comments, and frequently have to do with things OTHER than copyright infringement. There are tangents all the time. Like say, the definition of whether a company is actually “limited” or not:

            http://stopstealingphotos.com/perfect-weddings-london-england-uk/#comment-1625467992

This blog is not about the definition of what constitutes an LTD, it’s about copyright infringement. But there it is anyway. Or perhaps, requirements around declaring prior convictions to employers, especially in the cases of driving for work. That very clearly has zero to do with copyright infringement, but…

            http://stopstealingphotos.com/country-photography/#comment-1693701859

Or any number of other examples. The point is, discussions happen. Conversations happen. Discussions often bring the topic away from the original subject. You yourself have done it. If you’re going to make a statement declaring what this blog and website are “about” then you should make sure you also stick to that and discuss nothing else. Otherwise, simply ignore conversations you don’t care about.

As for the censorship topic, it really doesn’t matter whether or not you “agree” with the definition. It’s still correct. Wikipedia puts it quite neatly: “Censorship is the suppression of speech, public communication or other information which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, politically incorrect or inconvenient as determined by governments, media outlets, authorities or other groups or institutions.”

          • Helena

I can’t even be bothered to respond fully. You are an insufferable know-it-all so I’m sure you would want the last word anyway.

Just note Chris, when discussion happens, it’s only when YOU get involved that anyone gets pissed off. When I said stop being a pedant, I meant stop being a pedant, not be 100 more irritating than you already were.

          • CrackerJacker

People are confusing (or conflating) censorship and constitutionally protected free speech. In the US, we are protected against government censorship, but censorship is frequently carried out by people and companies all the time. Watch The Big Lebowski on network TV, you’re going to see a lot of censorship. All these “naked” reality shows? Censored the h*!! out of. See what I did there? As @disqus_lQKMGYfopO:disqus pointed out, self censorship.

So while the mods are VERY lenient, there has been censorship, when lines have been crossed. But it’s not an infringement on anyone’s free speech!

          • captain-confuzzled

This seems to be a really good explanation and discussion of the concept of ‘censorship’ and ‘right to free speech’. http://lifehacker.com/5953755/what-exactly-is-freedom-of-speech-and-how-does-it-apply-to-the-internet Reading this (and other things I found), it seems fairly clear that a private blogger can control content in any way that they want to on their blog. Whether they choose wisely in terms of their blog goals and audience is a different issue but also up to the owner of the blog. This blog is pretty darn open in my opinion, allowing for lots of opposing views and discussion.

    • Just a Girl

Without going back to look- as far as I know Jeremy is still listed on this Blog. In fact he didn’t ask for the listing to be removed OR changed. AND if I remember correctly he has even revisited his own posting to ask questions. There is a divide between the 2 that you are missing.

    • xma1e

Not familiar with that blog post, but did he spend as much time pleading for a photo to be removed rather than spending that time apologising to the people he stole from?

    • Factitious_Detector

You seem familiar with Jeremy Cowart, yet you’ve neglected to do your homework on the VAST number of thieves that have professed to be soooo soooo sorry… sometimes to the point where they take time away from the members of this board who are kind enough to counsel them on the right thing to do…. only to get caught AGAIN, or get caught in LIES, or who do a complete 180, and decide that the half-arsed “apology” that they posted here, and not to their friends/family/clients/victims that they defrauded is “good enough” and we can STFU because everyone else in the world buys the act.

Perhaps you should read some of those?

There is a distinct pathology in people who CHOOSE to STEAL and PURPOSELY misrepresent their talents and their education. If they don’t have the conscience already whispering in their ear when they first even THINK about being a fake, that little voice is certainly NOT going to be there when they are busted and asked to apologize.

There is a reason that only about three or so people ever really LEGITIMATELY apologized out of all of those caught, and I might be over estimating that number by one, I can’t recall.

We are in conversation with our lawyer.

Sorry, but i don’t buy that he and Tanya (Who has remained quiet through this whole thing) are remorseful at all. The first thing he does here is investigate how to get his post removed? I’m not buying this whole sympathy train. He did send me an email saying sorry and offered me $100. Who wouldn’t once they realized the gravity of the documented crime they committed? I feel as though they are more sorry they got caught rather than stealing content.

We’ll see where it goes from here. And that’s all i can say for now.

    • Me, Myself and I

You might want to include your clients who’s likeness he used without consent in this conversation.

    • ALP

I don’t blame you. He’s done workshops and had some sort of videography business that he wanted to expand to photography (how many websites does he/has he had?) but now he just makes minimum wage at 7-11 and is forced to work off the clock. Some of these blog posts make me laugh like a loon at the insanity but I feel like he’s trying to manipulate the story here to his own ends.

    • U Really That Dumb?

You may want to have your lawyer call Shutter Speed and see if they want to go in with you on it since he stole a number of theirs as well.

This photo does imply (since it’s on his “business” home page) that he did shoot this, how are they going to know this is of the “photographers” not an example? No credit to the original photographer. Anyone want to contact Jon James?

hope you had a joyous Thanksgiving, I would hazard the opinion that if Jay uses the information received here, he might just have avoided very serious issues indeed. It is all up to him. He did the stealing, he has plenty of control over the resolution. I personally think he has it in him to use the experience to grow and handle his business in a more professional way, but it is totally up to him.

  • Just a Girl

Awww white knighting around these posts is just becoming sooo old school… can we please try some other tactic other then placating the Stealer. Christ they used something that was NOT theirs and said it was….

    • Factitious_Detector

Clearly this is someone new to the idea of the “shameless fraud”, give it time… give it time. LOFL

IN fact “MJ” perhaps the next time you see a stealer that your bleeding heart grieves for… REACH OUT to them!!!

PLENTY of bleeding hearts, (and some plain nice people) have reached out to these arse holes before. What do they get in return for it you wonder? A sense of fulfillment, a new friend, the joy of seeing their words taken seriously? Getting to gloat about how their “peace and love” “touched” the thief like the proverbial bible in the hotel room drawer??

      NOPE.

99.9% of the time they get LIES, emotional manipulation, and bullshite. The faker sucks them in, tries to give them a sense of accomplishment (“wow I’m so awesome, I reached this person where those other meanies didn’t”) and then turn around and use their new perceived advantage (aka your bleeding arsed heart) to try to make themselves look better, and distract from the fact that they have never apologized to the right people, or the people on their various pages, contacted who they stole from, or deleted everything.

BUT PLEASE…. by all means, go forth and be “better” than all of us, who’s time at this rodeo is not our first.

I eagerly await YOUR proclamation of success, and how awful we are for not giving someone a “chance”…. or in reality, a rant about how this person took your time, your energy, lied to you flat-out, and oh, yeah, we are right after all.

  • Me, Myself and I

He still has stolen images on his ModelMayhem account.

Like most thieves, he just removes what we find … not everything he stole.

      “About Me:
New to Model Mayhem but not to the industry.”

      Wait, what?!

    • GlennMcQuaig

Which photos on his Model Mayhem are stolen? I searched all the ones there and none came up with any other photographer’s name or site. Tried Google Image search and Tineye.

      • Marc W.

The girl in the bathtub photo was already sourced above.

        • GlennMcQuaig

Ok, now I see it. Thanks. When I tried to check it fresh (not from another link) it came up on Jay’s Model Mayhem page, not the original photographer’s page. It still does that. I wonder why?

    • U Really That Dumb?

@disqus_XRtxo1HIcc:disqus, WTF dude? Seriously? What story do you want to stick with? When are you going to actually come clean and DELETE EVERYTHING? You are nothing but a liar and a fraud and I hope the people you stole from go full force after you, and get what’s rightfully theirs, even if that means you are dirt poor for the rest of your life. The people that have stood up for you here have their heads buried in the sand with yours since they can’t see that you are continuing to lie. Also, removing that watermark? Yeh, that’s going to cost you!

      • captain-confuzzled

tell us how you really feel URTD. geesh

      • xma1e

Looks like is account is down

        • U Really That Dumb?

Model Mayhem has a VERY strict policy on image theft! So the chance that’s he’s gone for life is fairly high.

      • CkOne

I just wonder… Did he read this page again (he hasn’t replied since and made personal accounts private) and delete the MM account of did someone turn him in?

  • Michael Goolsby

    What the hell???

At first, it looked like Jay might step up, admit his wrongdoing, and then rectify the issue. And yet, days later, I’m STILL seeing STOLEN PHOTOGRAPHS on his various websites? Was his “apologies” merely BULLSHIT?

Jay, a portrait of an irresponsible, thieving, serial LIAR is beginning to emerge. You might consider pulling down ALL of your sites and starting over when you are ready to be LEGITIMATE. Jesus Friggin Christ, you don’t even know what an EIN is! If you don’t first end up getting sued into oblivion by the REAL PHOTOGRAPHERS YOU STOLE FROM, you might end up getting sued by the government for tax fraud or even worse. Is playing with your cool camera toys worth doing it in a way that can cause you REAL TROUBLE? I sincerely hope you back off from all this and do some serious re-evaluating of what you are trying to achieve, and, more importantly HOW you’re going about doing it.

    • U Really That Dumb?

Oh he’s sorry! He’s sorry we caught him.
