Website 1: http://jessestockton.wix.com/jsmedia?hc_location=ufi
Website 2: http://www.jessestockton.com/

I’ve verified that Jesse Stockton was not a second or associate photographer for any of these weddings.

This photographer was tipped to me after he was researched when an article was published about this photographer in a local newspaper.

Update 04/17/2015
Website #2 has been up and down, appears to be his main website that may have gone down with the article above. Those are sourced below.

To J.S. MEDIA & CO. AKA JESSE STOCKTON MEDIA IN NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, ONTARIO, CANADA,

Welcome to the world of being outed by Photo Stealers (Stop Stealing Photos). It is our goal to root out and put a stop to photography copyright infringement. Your outing is one step towards that goal. You used photos you were not authorized to use, which is illegal. You’re probably confused and angry, so let us try to help you get a handle on things by giving you a checklist of things you should be doing and not doing.

Please do NOT do the following:

    1. React with anger, go into denial, or start in with the threats. We already have the evidence against you. The best thing you can do for you is to be honest and to deal with this head on.

    2. Flag comments on this listing. The mods will just put them back, so don’t waste your time.

    3. Lie or offer excuses. We have heard every excuse in the book (really, we have. One guy even blamed Obama.), and you will not come up with something we haven’t heard before. You are not a special snowflake. Nothing you can say will justify what you did, so don’t bother.

    4. Accuse us of slander (because nobody ever figures out it has to be verbal to be slander). We stick to the facts, and if something is publicly available, it’s fair game.

    5. Create fake accounts to defend yourself. We will see through it, and it’s just a waste of time.

    Please DO the following:

    1. Remove any and all stolen images immediately. That means now. Right now. And no, simply hiding them from public view doesn’t count. They need to be completely deleted.

    2. Apologize DIRECTLY to those from whom you have stolen (and tell the truth!), and offer monetary compensation. You used their images in a professional setting to try to make money, so you owe them that much.

    3. Hope they don’t sue you. Copyright infringement is illegal under the law, and you can be sued for thousands of dollars, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, for EACH stolen image. Yes, seriously.

    4. Apologize publicly, on all the sites and social media accounts where the stolen work appeared. Again, you owe it to your clients, fans, friends, etc., to be honest.

    5. Learn about how copyright works. Look up the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. What you may think you know and what is actually the truth are probably two different things (as in: no, posting someone else’s photo as “inspiration” is not a valid reason, nor is it good enough to provide credit. If you don’t have express permission to post someone else’s image, then you don’t post it. That’s it, the end).

    6. DON’T STEAL. It’s not complicated — if you didn’t take a photo and don’t have permission to use it from the actual copyright holder, then don’t use it. It’s that simple. Yes, seriously. You claim to be a photographer, so why on earth would you want to use others’ images, anyway? How does that make sense?

    And remember:

    1. If you do it again, you will be caught. We go back and check old listings to make sure they haven’t started stealing again. And don’t forget — Google knows. Anytime someone searched for your business, this listing will come up.

    2. Think about the actual victims here (no, not you) — those whose images you stole. You screwed them over. And frankly, that’s a pretty damned crappy thing to do. And think about the clients you’ve mislead by presenting a false front. They’re victims, too.

  • Celine (peaceetc)

I just read the article written about the photographer. That’s not good at all. Eight complaints against him at the BBB, and he thinks that’s not enough for an F rating? I’d say it’s more than enough, personally. A business that’s only been open since 2012 shouldn’t have that many complaints against it, if any at all.

    • captain-confuzzled
      • Photo Stealers

At least one of those complaints is from someone who hired him based on his website and fired him because all of the professional looking images disappeared.

^^^^^ why I do Photo Stealers. Thankfully they saw his real work before the wedding!

        • kelev

I worked for him as photog and editor. We had a pile of great pics. I don’t know why he did this, but then again, he did a lot of things I don’t understand.

          • js media scam

            What type of things?

      • Just a Girl

Wowsa… can it get any worse for this person? Imagine the ones out there that didn’t bother reporting!

    • Lorne Chesal

How about the 250 weddings since 2012 in 4 countries. 80+ a year out of the gate?

  • Lorne Chesal

There is I believe, another website for him/them.

    http://www.jessestockton.com/

    • Photo Stealers

Weird, earlier that link did not work but now it does. Will source in the AM.

      • Just a Girl

Doesn’t work now. All I get is a page saying the site is being worked on.

        • Photo Stealers

I screen captured before I went to bed.

  • LoLTonelica

The blogs are also copy-paste jobs from The Knot and Wedding Traditions.
Though at the bottom of each post, in a gray so light you barely notice it, it said “via _______”. Since the articles are not sourced or shared properly, they count as plagiarized.

    • LoLTonelica

I only managed to get a full page capture of the blog post lifted from The Knot. The page disconnected as I tried to load the other blogs to do the same.

    • LoLTonelica

So the sites are back up (4/22/15) and STILL include the lifted blogs.
Jesse, I don’t care that you put “via: The Knot” in the corner in small, light gray text at the bottom… you need to LINK the source article and put the notice that it’s not yours at the TOP of the blog near the title.
Even then, you’re still plagiarizing and it’s NOT ok.

      • kelev

Do not see the sites…either FB or web. Link?

        • LoLTonelica

It looks as though WIX may have pulled them this time, instead of Jesse. If that is the case, he no longer has access to publishing/unpublishing the page.

  • LoLTonelica

Also, both sites just went down. Roughly 12:37 AM MDT

  • C Sab

News of this has hit a group of photographers in my area. This will now spread like wildfire, this fraud is done.

  • Gavin Jacob Halucha

I worked for this guy doing videography services. I am actually academically qualified, Jesse is NOT! He lacks all knowledge in this field. Worst of all, he owes me money still! JESSE, PAY ME THE MONEY YOU OWE ME!

    • kelev

Gavin, I filed with the Labour Board to get my money he owes me.

      • Gavin Jacob Halucha

Yes, I did the same months ago. Labour Board is now well aware about Jesse Stockton.

  • Gavin Jacob Halucha

89 Queens Parade, Niagara on the Lake is a fake address, 144 Queenston St. Catharines is a fake address! I live in St. Catharines and tried to locate both addresses and they just don’t exist!

  • Photo Stealers

I’ve been told this isn’t the first time he has been caught using others works in his portfolio… of course.

    • C Sab

From what I’ve heard he’s been doing it for a while.

  • C Sab

Shared this to a group of models, photographers, etc. on FB that all live in our province. It has thousands of members. He won’t be doing this again.

  • This is one of the main reason this site exists.

Sent from a iPhone, please excuse the brevity and typos.

  • Photo Stealers

Updated with images from the second website.

  • Photo Stealers

I am so terribly sorry to hear this.

  • Michael Goolsby

“Stockton said his firm began business in 2012 and he has shot more than 250 weddings in four countries.”

More than 80 weddings a year on average… from his very first year? Yeah, right. Con men like this should be neutered.

    • LoLTonelica

If you notice in the BBB listings, he says something along the lines of “1 complaint out of 150 satisfied clients” doesn’t even corroborate his “About” section. Even if he was only counting brides, what happened to those 100 other weddings?

He can’t even keep up with his own BS.

  • Proof is in the Puddin

You should book another photographer and attempt to get your money back. I wouldn’t rely on this guy.

  • Holly AS

I can’t speak to the work of his photography unfortunately. I used him for our video. I would honestly recommend checking the Better Business Bureau review and the comments on here as they are all accurate to what we have experienced unfortunately. So sorry to hear this is happening for you!

  • Melinda Potter

Oh gosh! I’m so sorry 🙁 this makes me really sad. Going by his past complaints at BBB I highly doubt you’ll get your money back, or any sort of resolution.

  • captain-confuzzled
  • Emily Schooley

    As
a separate warning for Hamilton/Niagara brides, I got totally ripped
off by a service out of St. Catharines called Glam Gorgeous Salon. After
we’d paid in advance for our wedding day, we were told we’d only paid
for the trial day and they expected another $500. Such a scam and it
left me super-stressed a month out from our wedding.

  • GJH

did your wedding happen to be in kitchener?

    • Holly AS

It was yes, at the Walper.

      • GJH

omg i filmed your wedding! I wish i didn’t give all the footage to Jesse or else I would have no problem putting together a video for you. Now it seems Jesse owes us both! I’m so sorry you have to go through all this.

        • Holly AS

My husband and I have nothing but great things to say about you! We were very happy with how professional you were that day!
We didn’t really get to thank you that day but it was great working with you! Hopefully you can find a resolution to all this!

          • There is always one/a few who is happy with a outed stealers work…

          • Lorne Chesal

hmmm.. the tone of this doesn’t seem to match your first post. “hope no further brides have to deal with him…” doesn’t seem to belong in the same conversation as “nothing but great things to say…”

So, I am confused. Anyone else?

  • GJH

cant believe its back up, he has some nerve

    • C Sab

A lot of photo thieves have this delusional that they can ignore the fact they’ve been outed and continue to operate as normal. They learn the hard way soon enough that this is not true.

  • HAHAHAH so let me get this straight… he still working on videos from last year … dies….

  • You can’t fix stupid

    Do you have a link?

  • C Sab

You should link this page to them so they know to cancel. Don’t want them getting ripped off by this clown.

  • GJH

the address he has is fake, i tried driving out to find it and youre right, it simply does not exist.

  • C Sab

A lot of thieves will play the victim card and act like everyone who confronts them about being a thief is harassing them so they can act like the victims are the bad guys. Pretty much every thief we’ve exposed has shown signs of being a narcissist and/or a psychopath or sociopath which isn’t surprising.

    • kelev

Severe narcissist and a typical bully. Threats to me almost daily now.

      • C Sab

Threats from photo thieves when they’re caught and you start confronting them are extremely common. What you should do is ignore the threats but take screenshots so you can use that against him, if you need to take legal action they will be a powerful weapon and will make things worse for him. Do not be intimidated as these are empty threats and do not stoop to his rock-bottom level. You can post the screenshots here too if you want, lots of people do and it can help us to help you. Same goes to you @SS.

        • kelev

Mine is being handled the the provincial government.

          • C Sab

I’m sure they’ll be very interested in screenshots showing him threatening you.

          • kelev

They have more than screen shots. I went in with my laptop and gave them access to our FB messages and all emails. They copied them all…..over 2,000 of them.

          • C Sab

Over 2000? Well our thief must have had a lot to say. Excellent.

          • GJH

it’ll help my situation with the labour board as well! thank you!

          • Whaaa? Over 2000?! WTF is this guy saying to you?! Curious minds want to know! (plus I’m bored right now!)

  • BB

There will be a follow-up story in The Spec next week.

I will recommend you all file complaints with the Ontario Ministry of Consumer Services’ Consumer Complaints Branch.

MCS can investigate and lay charges under the Consumer Protection Act.

There’s really little the BBB can do. He already has an F rating.

  • kelev

I was his photo editor. Let’s just say it was a LOT of work to make them half presentable.

  • kelev

Possible new address, 27 Sparrow Dr, Welland, ON

    • GJH

3 Cambridge Dr., Welland, ON is another source I’ve been told.

  • Kimo

It’s obvious this guy he was doing wrong. The fake addresses and so on prove intent to defraud, not just copyright violations. This guy probably knew he was going to get caught, and just tried to get as much as he could before going into hiding.

Another person trying to get rich quick with earning anything but contempt.

    • C Sab

He can’t hide forever. Someone will find out where he really lives. Even if they don’t, he’ll never get work as a photographer again.

      • kelev

I do know he reads these posts daily 🙂
        Everyone say ‘Hi!’

        • C Sab

Pft, they all do that. Like I said elsewhere: thieves are predictable. Plus, it doesn’t matter if they lurk here since we have the evidence and therefore don’t need to hide.

  • kelev

I think I can lure him out of hiding.

  • multiphrenic

Wow! I shot at a wedding where they hired these guys as videographers. I remember thinking they were very unprofessional but never thought that they were complete fraudsters.Great job outing them.
