If you are going to steal images it’s probably best not to steal from a photographer whose body of work is very well known.

  • You can’t fix stupid

My bingo card is the Queen is to blame for this 🙂

    • peaceetc

Why not? If Obama is at fault here, then the Queen is to blame overseas.

      • Helena

I blame the unborn royal baby.

        • Suz

I say let’s blame the Vikings. The offenders are in Yorkshire, so it is definitely the Vikings (and not the ones from Minnesota.)

  • Stephc79

Oooh, stolen from Sue! Bad move buddy!

  • U Really That Dumb?

Let’s just nip this one in the bud, shall we? I know, it won’t work, but let’s pretend it will.

To Anthony James please do NOT do the following:

    1. Flag comments on this listing. We mods will just put them back, so don’t waste your time.

    2. Lie. We have heard every excuse in the book, and you will not come up with something we haven’t heard before. You are not a special snowflake. Nothing you can say will justify what you did, so don’t bother.

    3. Accuse us of slander (because nobody ever figures out it has to be verbal to be slander). We stick to the facts, and if something is publicly available, it’s fair game.

    Please DO the following:

    1. Remove any and all stolen images.

    2. Apologize DIRECTLY to those from whom you have stolen. You owe them that much.

    3. Hope they don’t sue you. Copyright infringement is illegal under the law, and you can be sued for thousands of dollars for EACH stolen image. Yes, seriously.

    4. DON’T STEAL. It’s not complicated — if you didn’t take a photo and don’t have permission to use it from the actual copyright holder, then don’t use it. It’s that simple. Yes, seriously. You claim to be a photographer, so why on earth would you want to use others’ images, anyway? How does that make sense?

    5. Make a public apology and pay back every client you ever took money from.

    And remember:

    1. If you do it again, you will be caught. Don’t forget — Google knows. Any time someone searched for your business, this listing will come up.

    2. Think about the actual victims here (no, not you) — those whose images you stole. You screwed them over. And frankly, that’s a pretty damned crappy thing to do.

Seriously? Sue Bryce? How stupid can you get?!

    • U Really That Dumb?

What’s even funnier is Sue is a known photo thief! She was outed on this page!

      • You can’t fix stupid

Really!!! Wow so a thief steals from a thief……. shocking new things daily.

    • Suz

About as stupid as the ones who also steal from Jerry Ghionis. By all means, if you’re going to steal, steal from well known photographers…it makes the outing and potential repercussions so much more fun.

  • You can’t fix stupid

    Time out for a second……..

Do you know what is so sad with all of these stolen photos is that when a client sees this work and doesn’t get this in return they think that they are the problem. They think that they are not beautiful enough, not thin enough or glamorous enough to look like this, but in actual fact it is the fauxtographer that is f’ing it all up. The mom-to-be is dreaming of these stunning shots only to get really bad shots and it does nothing for her self image. The poor clients, I feel so sorry for them.

    Okay as you were 🙂

    • U Really That Dumb?

      You are 100% right!

    • Helena

Yeah this makes me sad too.

  • Bart

Looks Like the original image of this one came from here…

    I hope this posts correctly…

    • Photo Stealers

      Thank you!!

  • Bart

ahh darn it, you beat me to it. I didn’t see your link before posting mine.

  • Kristen Hunt

Classical Romance Photography, I hope you take this post as a learning experience and realize that stealing is wrong. I’ve learned a lot from this website, and from some very wise people who comment on these threads, now I check this site regularly and want to reach out to people who were in my position, I respect these people deeply and I hope you do too. They may say some harsh things, but in the end it’s all the truth and you have to accept that what you have done is wrong. So my advice to you, listen to what they say and PLEASE take it to heart. Maybe photography is just not your thing xox

  • Helena

As you’ve probably seen, there are a lot of people upset that you ripped off Sue Bryce. I imagine the phototgraphers you ripped off aren’t best pleased either.

The best thing you can do now is remove all the stolen work, apologise to the photographers, offer to pay them for the unauthorised use of their work, and then make a public apology to your clients who you deceived, and the photo subjects whose privacy you invaded.

Look through the other entries in this site and see how well getting defensive works for those people before replying to any posts here. Kristen has given you some very good advice too. I hope you take it.

  • Justin Case

This may actually go down as worst branding fail I’ve seen.
You might want to rethink that new studio you’re building, Mr James.
Twenty-five years in business and you’re stealing like a rookie? Pretty sad, really.

  • Website and all FB pages are gone..I wonder if Sue will sue. (pun)

  • Karl Neuman

https://plus.google.com/b/100249081151738155187/116104825236111765053/posts His googleplus page is still up , so is his youtube , everything else seem to be vanished mysteriously Irony of this particular theft …is the thief would have benefited sooo much more from what Sue teaches than they ever would from stealing her work .

    • Justin Case

He also links to a Jerry Ghionis video on his youtube, so kinda hard to claim ignorance on this one.

    • Justin Case

Gone. Looks like someone has woken up to a messy weekend. Good luck with the clean-up, Tony and Trish. You’ve got a LOT of stuff out there.

    • Justin Case

      YouTube down now as well.

  • Well I found his personal FB account
    https://www.facebook.com/anthony.james.9615566

  • Justin Case

strange that his website claims University of Hull, Photography, but his LinkedIn profile shows ‘registered nursing’ for Education.

  • Karl Neuman

https://www.facebook.com/trish.rawnsley?fref=ufi seems to be the trish that was one half , she links to https://www.facebook.com/anthony.james.9615566 , the guy of the duo , seems to fit with linkedin too

  • Karl Neuman
  • Justin Case

I really wish this could be a lesson, but I think it may fall on deaf ears.

Tony and Trish of Classical Romance Photography, you did seem to have a few weddings and events under your belt, and even what looks like some genuinely happy clients. But because you decided to take the easy way and skip over the steps of experience and hard work, now all that will be remembered is how you lied, tried to trick your clients and stole from other photographers.

It’s really a shame, but before you start blaming this site or the people who have left comments here and on google+, please remember NONE of them forced you to use images that you didn’t make.

  • Just a Girl
    • Karl Neuman

There is a lot of pictures up there on his smugmug too , going to hurt him to shut that down .. looking at it , Id say its his work tho , all the same style

  • Justin Case

    Excellent points, Karen Morgan.
And Classical Romance Photography, you should also probably remove the reference to NILMDTS https://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/ on your LinkedIn page since they really don’t deserve to be dragged into this.

    • captain-confuzzled

He is registered with them. Come on Anthony, please fix this photo stealing stuff. If you are willing and able to do NILMDTS that’s pretty awesome, don’t mess it up with photo stealing. Why in the world would you steal from Sue Bryce? Not that stealing from anyone is okay, but such a well known photographer? I just don’t get it.

  • Anthony James

To whom it may concern, I would like to unreservedly apologise to everyone for allowing the use of material on my website that did not belong to me, especially to Sue Bryce. It was very stupid and very much regret it. All the material and website have now been taken down. This is obviously now turning into a nightmare, everyone is right to be angry with me, the blame lies with me and I really am very sorry and again offer my unreserved apologies. I hope that I can be foregiven as this was the first time I have ever done anything like it. I do photgraphy for rememberance charities and would like to continue offering these families this gift. Please forgive me for being an idiot. I cannot express how sorry I am, as stated this has been my first and only time. Yours very regrettably, Anthony James.

    • Lindsay11

I’m glad you came to apologize. Did you really take everything you stole down?

      • Anthony James

        Yes I have,

        • Lindsay11

I’m so glad you took everything down, I hope you are telling the truth. Lots of stealers come here with a fake apology knowing they still have stuff up somewhere and continue to lie to us, so you can see how we have a hard time trusting any of them.

I hope you have contacted all the people you stole from and gave them a real apology. Not just “allowed the use of material on my website”. You should be prepared to pay any of them that demand compensation.

          • I wonder what Sue will do..

          • Lindsay11

She could do what this person did. http://sassy-designs.net/blog/?p=443

“The judge awarded me $210,000.00 on August 7, 2014.” I just love that sentence, don’t you!

          • Karl Neuman

Im fairly certain she will have people lining up to take the case if litigation isnt already underway

        • Marc W.

Seems like everything is hidden, not down/removed.

          • Lindsay11

If it’s true you are just hiding things Anthony, that is not removing.

          • It’s so hard to delete hard earned stolen images…

          • Anthony James

I have not hidden anything that should not be there, all that stuff HAS been removed, honestly. I know everyone wont believe it but I have. I have been stupid but really do want it to stop. And lying will not do me any favours,

          • Lindsay11

You’re right, lying will do you no favors. Besides, how embarrassing if someone found you still have stolen stuff up and you’ve been lying this whole time.

So… you’ve done all your apologizing? You’ve contacted everyone you stole from?

Also, you know, I never really get a chance to ask stealers this, but I have a feeling you will answer. Why did you steal in the first place? Did you ever think about getting caught? Did you worry about that? What did you plan to tell clients when they asked why their photos didn’t look as nice as the ones on your website? Did you worry that if you got caught it would make everyone and everything you are connected with, including charities, look bad?

          • Marc W.

Not hidden? What website and facebook page are you talking about because accounts are either hidden or deleted, so you’ve just hiding.

    • Lindsay11

Stole BTW. Not “allowed the use of material on my website”. You stole it. You put it up. You claimed it as yours. Weasel words are not an apology Anthony.

  • Anthony James

My first apology did not appear to have posted,
To whom it may concern, I would like to unreservedly apologise for allowing the use of material on my website that did not belong to me, especially to those whom the material belonged to, especially Sue Bryce. It was wrong and very stupid of me, this was the first and only time I have ever done anything like this ever. I really am very sorry and have immediately taken everything down. I hope that I can be forgiven for such a stupid act, I do photography for a couple of rememberance charities and obviously would like to carry on serving them if I can. I have been an idiot, I am the only person to blame. You are right to be angry and I just want this nightmare to end. Please once again accept my unreserved apologies and try and forgive a repentant idiot. Yours very regrettably Anthony James

    • Lindsay11

Nope, it’s there. Please see my two replies on the other post.

    • Justin Case

You can start by contacting Denise Williams at http://whimsytreephotography.zenfolio.com/

An apology is a good first step. I would very much like to believe you are changing your ways. But please be aware, people here have been lied to over and over again, and a false promises are quickly seen through.

    • Karl Neuman

      Anthony

You might have realised you stole the work of a photographer who has a pretty loyal following .

You and Trish have ticked off a whole lot of people . Your reputations are kinda shot to hell , your business is tainted and kinda sadly .. anything youd been doing along the lines of good charitable kind nice guy stuff … suddenly doesnt count near as much any more …

You have committed a serious crime .

Against a seriously connected artist .

This isnt something thats going to go away … the artist you stole from knows that there are literally tens of thousands of people watching seriously closely to see what happens now .You might want to start actually reaching out to the artists you stole from , personally , and actually offer something like recompense , compensation ..

its going to be waaayyy better for you in the long run if you settle it before you go to court .

Itd also go a long way to actually putting your words about being repentant into actions .. thats needed about now since not too many people trust a known thief .. especially when they say they sorry and wont do it again .. ( you didnt say “trust me” , there may be hope yet )

Its just a suggestion , I feel kinda almost sorry for you , given you have tens of thousands of people clicking you and Trish’s face book pages to see what dumb thieves look like .

Dont just put ” to whom it may concerns” here … go , show you really mean it to the people who count , the ones you stole from .

    • GlennMcQuaig

Lindsay11 has already pointed out, but it definitely bears repeating to you, Anthony. Using the passive voice and writing, “…I…apologise for allowing the use of material on my website that did not belong to me…” is a huge copout. And a red flag for anyone familiar with notable fake apologies.

What you write instead is something like, “…I apologize for stealing work from other photographers and posting it on my website, claiming it as my own…”

See the difference? It’s hard to accept your apology, or anyone’s, when it’s worded in such a way as to minimize or deflect blame for the act of stealing.

  • David

    Hi,
I have come across these posts and yes I have contacted Tony. And I will state
right from the off that I am not condoning his actions. But this guy
photographed my wedding, none of these pictures posted here were on his website
then. I have known Tony for a long while now and know he is really a nice guy.
He does do charity work, and I know he is really sorry. I am sure that this was
a ‘one off’ stupid, stupid mistake. I am asking Please do not hound this issue,
I know its wrong what was done. I saw him today and he really is in one hell of
a state, and yes you will say he deserves it. But doesn’t everyone deserve a
second chance? None of us are really without sin, he is trying to do the
honorable thing, so please find it in yourselves to cut him a little slack.
Sorry but I thought someone needed to say something positive about him. Dave.

    • Marc W.

“One off” stupid mistakes is one photo. Did you count how many are above? I’m sure there were more that weren’t screenshotted (huh?).

I’m sure he’s a swell guy that always buys rounds for everyone and such, but he still stole many photos and posted them as if he took them. As I’ve said before in another “hey this stealer does a lot of charity work, etc”: I also do non-profit work and would NEVER take another photographer’s photo to use without their permission for me or for the non-profit I volunteer for. That is just 100% wrong.

Oh, David, can I use some photos from your wedding on my site? I’m a nice guy.

    • Lindsay11

David, it’s really nice of you to come defend your friend and I’m sure he is sorry he stole. Was your wedding this year or 2013?

    • Test

Sent from a iPhone, please excuse the brevity and typos.

    • I also heard that some rapist and murders are nice pepole to…..and? It’s pointless because he took everything down and apologized anyway so….ummmm pointless

    • peaceetc

This is perhaps an extreme example, but here goes:

My family used to know this guy. Let’s call him Jim, though that isn’t his name. He was really nice, clearly needed friends, had a lot of problems, but seemed pretty trustworthy. We let him stay at our house for a while. Some time later (long after he’d stopped living with us), he went to get gas for his truck, couldn’t pay, and ended up burning down the place, with the owner inside. He’s presently in prison for murder.

The funny thing is, he seemed like an incredibly nice person. And he was. But he also was capable of murder. I never would have believed it before it happened.

Before anyone goes there, I am not even remotely comparing copyright infringement to murder (that would be ludicrous). Like I said, it’s an extreme example, but I think it makes the case for what I’m trying to say.

As Joseph suggested, is even the nicest people have their darker sides. We all do. We’re all capable of more than what others see, both good and bad. I appreciate you wanting to defend your friend, David, I really do. But we have to look at the bigger picture. There are real victims here — the photographers from whom he stole, the subjects of those images who had their pictures used without authorization, and the clients and potential clients of Anthony’s who were mislead. That’s pretty important, and should never be overlooked, just because someone is a nice guy.

There’s a reason why copyright infringement is illegal in most countries, and why the fines can be hundreds of thousands of dollars for each image. And there’s a reason why the people here care so much about the issue. Please, David, I ask that you remember that.

      • You were way nicer to Tony (aHEM!, I mean “David”) than he deserves. kudos 😉

  • Kym Zwick

Sue Bryce…. Really?! Sue Bryce?? Do not realize how many people follow Sue Bryce?? This is making me think that you are very new to the industry, because I don’t know a single person that cannot point out a Sue Bryce portrait from a mile away…

    • I cannot “point out a Sue Bryce portrait from a mile away” and I’ve been an avid follower of photography for a while even if I’m not a full time working pro.
Not saying it wasn’t stupid. just highlighting your probably not valid extrapolation based on your own tastes. 🙂

      • Next we will see someone claiming that Annie Leibovitz images as their one.

        • U Really That Dumb?

          Who?

          • 0_o???
            Ok what about Gary Fong?

          • ALP

            Bleh …

          • I didn’t know he was a photographer, I just thought he sold stuff. 😉

          • Me, Myself and I

            No wait … isn’t he a guitarist?

          • Damn, beat me to it! 😉

          • Marc W.

            Who?

          • Lindsay11

I love every single Geico commercial. I don’t care, they’re funny!

      • Melinda Potter

I’m with you Al. It’s not about not knowing who Sue Bryce is or being familiar with her work. More about picking photographs from the Internet that you in no way come close to achieving in an attempt to lure more people into booking with you. Not everyone will know of every popular photographer out there today, even IF they are an avid and interested, established photog.

        • Agree with you fully. I just didn’t like the “oh, you don’t know who Sue Bryce is so you must be a Newb in the industry” sort of mentality… I’d heard of the name, presumed she was famous/successful, but clearly I’m somehow lesser since I can’t point out one of her photos despite being quite successful in what I’m trying to do. That’s just silly.

          • What about Terry Richardson?

          • Know him, know of his “Style” (at least the one I’m most familiar with, ie straight on flash, high key, in front of wall stuff), but couldn’t point out “from a mile away” all of his work.
            Oh, and he’s a perv. 😉

          • Oh, and Iknow he directed “Wrecking Ball” which (cinematography-wise) was quite excellent.

          • Me, Myself and I

“ALLEGED” perv! No need to get in a libel suit with someone with his ressources! :p

          • Hahah.. no no, have him come at me. He IS a perv. Maybe not criminally so, but a creep and a perv are without a doubt. Why? Because I said so. And I’m somebody (according to my mommy!).

          • He is a perv he even had a xxx tumbler blog with mostly naked images of him with a hardon with other models and transvestites. It was deleted after it went viral … you know bad publicity facepalm

          • Me, Myself and I

Good cause I’ve heard the name but have no idea what she does.

Now ask me about Chase Jarvis, David Hobby, Jared Polin, Scott Kelby …

          • I just thought it came off as very elitist/snobby and can’t accept that especially since she’s painting me with that broad brush-stroke.

  • aphoto4you

What does Being nice guy has to do with being a thief? Please …no one walks the streets and screams I am a thief I am a thief
Many don’t know what their next door neighbor does behind closed doors …THIEVES must be exposed to the world so everyone knows what a nice guy he is …thank you for doing great job…

  • Karl Neuman

This guy’s own work had a style all its own , and I believe that with a bit of effort promoting his own work he really has something unique .

Stealing was one of the dumber moves , stealing from the person he did , was probably the dumbest move possible ..

But seriously , Anthony ,if you can salvage anything after you done with the repercussions of this ( if that happens ) you have a funny humorous style of shooting and posing , you could make something out of it if you pushed your own work .

But stick to your own style , you really have something going there that is unique .

Just a thought . I dont personally believe that youre the ” classic” thief who shows up here , you might want to learn from this and put your talent to good use .

    • Melinda Potter

Where do you see his work? Looks like all his sites were taken down. Well… The links didn’t work for me anyway.

      • Karl Neuman

Before it was taken down , I had a look thru it . He had a pretty consistent style , been thinking abut this guy , I think he is one of the few who will actually learn from this experience , and straighten up , but that he is also one of the very few who is going to be held accountable by law too .

        • Melinda Potter

I missed seeing any of his work, but I’ll take your word for it. It’s really is too bad that anyone would make the decision to steal from another photographer, but I have to admit it really does bother me more when their own talent can be seen.

          • Karl Neuman

I think he was looking for a short cut into business rather than build his own body of work , stealing is never good , especially when its sooo not his own style or even close .
I kinda liked his work tho , he had a style of club hands , clumsy just wrong poses but soo uniform it was comic but it had me looking at the next one to see what he did there . I can see a niche for it . Shame he probably wont get to make anything of it , Nothing good ever comes from stealing .
I think I almost feel sorry for him . Oh well , his choice to steal.. he live with consequences .

  • Sparx

I’m amazed someone is stupid enough to steal from Sue Bryce 🙁

    • Lindsay11

      Who?
