  • U Really That Dumb?

Let’s just nip this one in the bud, shall we? I know, it won’t work, but let’s pretend it will.

To ONE EYE CLOSED PHOTOGRAPHY IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY,

Welcome to the world of being outed by Photo Stealers (Stop Stealing Photos). It is our goal to root out and put a stop to photography copyright infringement. Your outing is one step towards that goal. You used photos you were not authorized to use, which is illegal. You’re probably confused and angry, so let us try to help you get a handle on things by giving you a checklist of things you should be doing and not doing.

Please do NOT do the following:

    1. React with anger, go into denial, or start in with the threats. We already have the evidence against you. The best thing you can do for you is to be honest and to deal with this head on.

    2. Flag comments on this listing. The mods will just put them back, so don’t waste your time.

    3. Lie or offer excuses. We have heard every excuse in the book (really, we have. One guy even blamed Obama.), and you will not come up with something we haven’t heard before. You are not a special snowflake. Nothing you can say will justify what you did, so don’t bother.

    4. Accuse us of slander (because nobody ever figures out it has to be verbal to be slander). We stick to the facts, and if something is publicly available, it’s fair game.

    5. Create fake accounts to defend yourself. We will see through it, and it’s just a waste of time.

    Please DO the following:

    1. Remove any and all stolen images immediately. That means now. Right now. And no, simply hiding them from public view doesn’t count. They need to be completely deleted.

    2. Apologize DIRECTLY to those from whom you have stolen (and tell the truth!), and offer monetary compensation. You used their images in a professional setting to try to make money, so you owe them that much.

    3. Hope they don’t sue you. Copyright infringement is illegal under the law, and you can be sued for thousands of dollars, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars, for EACH stolen image. Yes, seriously.

    4. Apologize publicly, on all the sites and social media accounts where the stolen work appeared. Again, you owe it to your clients, fans, friends, etc., to be honest.

    5. Learn about how copyright works. Look up the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. What you may think you know and what is actually the truth are probably two different things (as in: no, posting someone else’s photo as “inspiration” is not a valid reason, nor is it good enough to provide credit. If you don’t have express permission to post someone else’s image, then you don’t post it. That’s it, the end).

    6. DON’T STEAL. It’s not complicated — if you didn’t take a photo and don’t have permission to use it from the actual copyright holder, then don’t use it. It’s that simple. Yes, seriously. You claim to be a photographer, so why on earth would you want to use others’ images, anyway? How does that make sense?

    And remember:

    1. If you do it again, you will be caught. We go back and check old listings to make sure they haven’t started stealing again. And don’t forget — Google knows. Anytime someone searched for your business, this listing will come up.

    2. Think about the actual victims here (no, not you) — those whose images you stole. You screwed them over. And frankly, that’s a pretty damned crappy thing to do. And think about the clients you’ve mislead by presenting a false front. They’re victims, too.

Let the fun and games begin.

  • Factitious_Detector

The owner appears to be Douglas Link, a retired car sales and advertising specialist with GM, Ford and Toyota.

  • Logan Smith
    • Photo Stealers

Lots of stolen images there as well.

      • U Really That Dumb?

His Twitter name doesn’t match the FB names he’s using.

  • CrackerJacker

Since they don’t have right hand drive cars in Kentucky, I’m guessing this one’s stolen, too.

    • Melinda Potter

lol oh no… Oops! “Only in Kentucky” huh? hehehe

    • Melinda Potter

      he has a “page manager”

      • CrackerJacker

Will we play blame the high school student!?!

        • Celine (peaceetc)

Man, I hope not. That would be lower than low.

          • Factitious_Detector

Well now I am just creeped out.

        • Marc W.

Whatever you do, do not attach this minor. It’s the adult’s fault in this one. [probably, either way, the Adult should have been monitoring it]

          • U Really That Dumb?

She’s actually in college. But yes, I agree, she was not likely the one that did this. But as an adult now, she should at least distance herself from him!

          • Me, Myself and I

I don’t know … I’m kind of split on this. she is an adult now … did she initiate the thefts? Did she continue the trend of her own free will or due to pressure from her employer … she COULD be just as guilty as he is or even more so or maybe all the theft ahppened before or after her time with him (notice that she doesn;t list him as her place of work currently).

But I think that until we hear form the thief on this we should just ignore her. My cursory search on her hasn’t yielded anything noteworthy in terms of photo theft so …

      • U Really That Dumb?
      • ALP

A page manager — for a FACEBOOK page — that is still in high school. I just can’t even … Bleh

        Or Snowbird!

    I just don’t get it…dumb dumb dumb

  • Marc W.

Yea, he’s aready removed the photo I comented on and linked to a image Google page.

  • Just a Girl

    this image actually belongs to
    http://www.viewbug.com/member/marcboult#/marcboult/gallery?sort=mostview
as far as I can tell… it seems well “distributed” though

    • Just a Girl

      oops the image

      • Helena

Instantly recognisable as the red arrows. How often do the Royal Air Force Acrobatic Team do displays in America?

        • Melinda Potter

          And on independance day?! lmbo

          • BigAl

I just looked this up. On 4 Jul 14 the Reds performed at Feltwell on the Norfolk Suffolk border. Feltwell is also home to a USAF radar/comms unit (They have one of those Golfball things). Its just north of both RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall (both USAF bases).

On the weekend they were at both days of the RAF Waddington air show in Lincs as well as the British Grand Prix at Silverstone Northants. They do visit the USA fairly regularly, probably every three or four years. The visits are more likely at the start or end of the season in Apr/Oct though.

I do a lot of aviation photography, and have a lot of shots of the Reds on my Flickr. Fortunately for me this is not one of mine. I would be inclined to take action if it were though. I have been following this site for a while now, great work you are all doing. The theives just hurt us all, pro or amature alike.

          • Helena

I’d like to see your pics! I’ve seen them many many times when North Weald had an air show, but never had the opportunity to take photos.

          • BigAl

I’ll put a link to my Red Arrows album on Flickr. The first air show I can remember attending was the very first Millitarry Air Tatto, which was at RAF Noth Weald in the early 70’s. I went to most of the shows in the 80’s as I grew up in Hornchurch. That place holds some good memories for me. I unfortunatly lost all of my film images from those days when my home got flooded. Films a lot harder to back up. Heres the link: https://flic.kr/s/aHsjERhonF I’m not a pro but hope you like them, at least they are my own work.

          • Helena

Thanks for the link. There are some absolutely corkers in there!

          • You can’t fix stupid

Those are super! Better watch out or Mr One Eye might steal them.

          • BigAl

Just so a US based stealer is stupid enough to chop off the copyright notices. That should make up for the not being US registered when it comes to suing for infringement. Although you can register with the UK Gov it makes not difference to any possible damages we can receive for infringement.

          • Savannah

These are really cool! I’ve never been able to go, but your photos make really want to!!

        • ALP

Very, Very seldom or there would be a Blue Angels showdown.

  • Me, Myself and I

Apparently he is a”non profit” studio. I would love to see his non profit registration information but even as a non profit, that doesn’t mean he isn’t making money salries are not considered profit.

Take the example of Ornge here in Canada > Ontario.

They are a private, non profit organisation that was given the contract to do all the emergency ambulance airlift serivces in the province.

The CEO was paying himself 1.4 million dollars a year.
    http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/12/02/tim-hudak-chris-mazza-ornge_n_4372291.html

Now, this thief mentions a hospital by name in his “about” section … perhaps the hospital would be interested in knowing this fact?

  • Helena

This one is EVERYWHERE but appears to be from metalworld Photo which is now defunct.

    • He does not even know how to use a digital camera much less the film models …

      • ALP

But he accurately describes himself under the photo …

  • U Really That Dumb?

    Oops…

    • Facebook only photographers freak me out.

    • doncalifornia

wow that was kind of fast

  • Celine (peaceetc)

To One Eye Closed Photography: deleting comments on your Facebook page won’t make this issue go away. In fact, it actually makes it that much worse, because you’re now you’re just pissing people off. Google already shows this page as the first post for your business name. There is no hiding from this.

You need to deal with this properly. See the featured comment on here from “U Really That Dumb?” for steps on what you should do. And above all — stop stealing.

    • captain-confuzzled

what an asshole he is – just deleting the ones he is called out on specifically. Oh, yeah, he gets it. *not*

      • Celine (peaceetc)

Do we really have to tell him to remove any and ALL stolen photos? Really? *sigh* Fine.

Dude, whatever your name is, if you didn’t shoot it, take it down. It’s not complicated. Take down ALL OF IT. Every single bit. Do not leave any images which are not yours up on your social media or other web presence. It is illegal to use others’ photos without express permission. Copyright infringement is a serious thing. Fix it.

        Is that clear enough?

      • Marc W.

So lets comment on every one of their photos so they all get removed. A blank FB page is a happy FB page.

      • Marc W.

Looks like it worked. Only 6 photos in the timeline (all cover photos, probably his) and a stolen profile icon.

  • captain-confuzzled

okay, this boggles my brain. Why take a perfectly good Nat Geo photo, blur it,generally mangle it and publish it on your photography FB page? Orig photograph here http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2014/02/keillor-geography/larsen-photography/#/07-mothers-bible-670.jpg (also an attachment)

    • Photo Stealers

He did the same with the fireworks image, he edited it a bit from its original form on Nat Geo.

      • captain-confuzzled

guess he figured no one would recognized them if he destroyed the quality. Not the brightest bulb in the socket. But then why use them promote your own photography. double smh

  • Marc W.

    Another photo not posted above.

    • Marc W.

      Orig

  • Melinda Potter
  • Some how he adds more stolen images … #dies

  • ALP

Anyone else notice that he lists his website as Yahoo? The link on the Facebook page just takes you to the Yahoo home page. I’m starting to think this person may not actually understand the Internet.

    • captain-confuzzled

He understands enough to steal pics and put other people’s names on them. Why give them false names if you don’t know what you are doing is wrong or how to manipulate the internet. And he knows enough to have a couple of aliases of his own (ie his twitter acct). I vote for just plain sneaky and stupid.

      • Factitious_Detector

Maybe he went to the Teresa Blau-Kursman school of INTRERNETZ.

  • Wes Jones

Either the FB page is gone or I am banned….

    • Marc W.

      Same here.

      • U Really That Dumb?

        FB is gone

  • You can’t fix stupid

What is he doing with a high school kid. That is very worrying.

    • Yeah, that’s weird.. “I miss you”.. WTF? I’m sure there’s more we’re not seeing, but it looks weeeeeeird.

      • You can’t fix stupid

I know that is so creepy!! And it looks like his avatar photos were taken at a library.

        • Top that off with the fact that his FB page manager is/was a HS student… creeepy.. creepy. Even if legit, it’s really sloppy perception management.

  • Curious if he cares that some of us may choose to contact Kosairs Children’s Hospital?? Do you Doug? I’m sure they’d love to know that any (and I’m assuming very little actually) money you’re able to give them through your “photography business” is based on fraud and thievery. So, come out and play..

  • Kristen Hunt

Oh my lord. People don’t learn.. This guy makes me very uncomfortable. Should be charged with more then just copyright infringement. Maybe If they snooped around in his computer while looking for stolen images, they’d probably find child pornography.

    • Bingo Little

Claiming he’s a pedo is a bit much. I move that the moderator strike this comment.

      • Why should the moderator strike it? Its a speculation not a fact. There are a few outed photographers listed here that were convicted of rape, some are under investigation for molesting models. So its not a far stretch of the imagination.

        • Kristen Hunt

Oh my! I did not know this, this is DISGUSTING Grrr. I know I’ve said it before and I’ll keep saying it again. THANK YOU ‘STOP STEALING PHOTOS’ you’ve brought justice to many things ❤️

          • Lindsay11

Hey Kristen, did you ever apologize to Lori and her daughter?

        • GlennMcQuaig

I’m surprised you actually have to ask why, Joseph. Just because it’s happened before doesn’t mean it’s right or fair to speculate. It’s not alright to do that without evidence, even here. Bingo and xma1e are right. Stick to what we know.

        • Me, Myself and I

But without PROOF it could be considered libel. We’ve always backed our accusations with proof (reems and reems of screen captures). It is what puts us morally above certain other outing sites (won’t name them to not positively affect their SEO but you all know who I mean).

Baseless claims like these harm our cause more than help IMHO.

      • xma1e

I agree, stick to facts otherwise it just makes the hard work his site does look like a witchhunt.
Concentrate on what we DO know, he’s a thief.

      • adobe doug

I came to this site from a reddit link (Teresa Blau). I stuck around and read all of the posts for the last 6ish months. I support what you do.

However, this accusation of child pornography erodes a lot of moral high ground. Kristen Hunt should remove it herself, but if she is unwilling to do so moderation should do it for her. Obviously people featured on this blog haven’t shown the highest moral character but, making baseless accusations in no way furthers the goals of the blog.

        • Melinda Potter

Kristen Hunt is a recently outted stealer. I’m sure her comment only came as some sort of way to deflect or to say “See? this person is worse than I am”, but it backfired and only made her look worse. I’m honestly surprised she hasn’t deleted it

        • Me, Myself and I
          • adobe doug

            Doh! Lurker (me) got trolled.
Carry on with the good work.
            I’ll go back to lurking.

        • Justin Case

Agreed. Unless you can back up such heavy accusations, you shouldn’t make them.

That said, this guy’s behavior calls his character into question, but as commenters we need to stick to what is provable, and supported by evidence.

  • You can’t fix stupid

His twitter account still has tons of stolen images. https://twitter.com/Linkinlouisvill/media
