Yes it’s all one word.

This is going to be a different post than the norm around here, so buckle up and grab your drink of choice.

A client contacted rayofsunshinephotography (this physically hurts me to write FYI) to inquire about rates and if this photographer did beach sessions.  Below is their conversation.

(tl;dr summary for those that don’t want to read it all, client asked if photographer did beach sessions, she said she did and sent over example images of her work on the beach).

The client and her friend book rayofsunshinephotography based on the examples of the beach photographs that were sent and agreed on a date and time for the session to take place during their vacation.

I’m sure this will come as no surprise that this session allegedly was a disaster.  Rayofsunshinephotography appeared to struggle with basic functions of a camera, fogging of the lens, issues with posing and finding the best light.  She ended up taking a lower fee than originally agreed upon due to the issues with the camera and weather and ultimately told the client she wouldn’t cash their check as she wasn’t happy with the images that turned out but would send over what she did have that was usable.

Eventually rayofsunshinephotography did send over some of the images and the vast difference in quality between what she sent as examples of her work vs. what she created during their session was quite apparent.

Below is one of the images from the session.

The files rayofsunshinephotography sent over were so low resolution that they wouldn’t print even as a 4×6.   The client followed up asking for higher resolution files so at least she could print the usable images from the session but never received them. Instead the client was blocked from the Facebook Page.

When the client did some investigating after a photographer friend pointed out there was likely no way the same photographer took both sets of images, she discovered that it was the woman who runs rayofsunshinephotography IN the photos and her fiance’s video of the proposal clearly shows a photographer taking the images that is NOT rayofsunshinephotography as she’s being proposed to.

I am currently still trying to locate who the original photographer is as Google is of no help on this one.  If anyone knows the photographer in Aruba that took these photographs, let me know so I can properly credit the original source.

This is one of the images from the proposal session OF rayofsunshinephotography on their Facebook Page (unknown original source)

In case there is any doubt, here is screen captures from both the woman behind rayofsunshinephotography and her fiance’s Facebook profiles, showing images from this same session as their photos (where they were congratulated on their engagement).

I’m also confused as to if she’s a newcomer or not as her friends have claimed in the comments that she’s anything from a newcomer that the client is trying to drag down to someone with 5 or 7 years of experience.

Bottom line, do not ever send over photos that you didn’t create and claim they are examples of your work.
