Wix sites are the devil.  I don’t care what their TOS is, you shouldn’t be using their preloaded imagery if you are a photographer.  You especially shouldn’t be taking that template imagery and using it on other pages to sell yourself as a photographer.  When you come across one of the few images that Kym actually took it’s almost laughable because the difference in quality is impressive.

There is a TON I didn’t source because it takes time and I get paid very little to run this site (the ads are here to help pay for the hosting).  I run on donations  and this is time consuming!  So, I apologize for not sourcing every image… but there is more out there if you are bored and want to source feel free to send it to me.  Also, if you want to support this site, hit an ad on the way out and help pay for this sucker to be run.   TY!

Main Website

The key to this site is this: if there is a word beneath the photo in the gallery it’s a template image, if it’s a number.jpg it’s probably downloaded from someplace and if it is something simple like kw.jpg it’s most likely Kym’s work.  Or just use your eyes, it’s not too hard to figure out.

  • Joshua_Barnett

    Thanks.

    • Joseph Philbert

Well time to post the link in the wedding group he is in … should be fun lol

      • C Sab

        Tell us what happens. Lol

        • Nora

He was a member of the “Facebook Wedding Photographers” group, he has since been kicked out.

          • C Sab

Lol i wish I could have seen the comments when Joseph posted there

      • C Sab

        Also whats the wedding group?

  • Joseph Philbert

    Lets see if he cares

  • Joel

What the hell is going on in Atlanta.

  • C Sab

Everyone get out your fauxtographer bingo cards out!

  • Justin Case

SO glad you included the ‘Disclaimers’ page. It’s beyond ironic that even THAT was stolen.

  • Just a Girl

Pretty sure the clean up has begin on his FB site…. nothing there any longer after Jan 2. Which is the Album with the Headshots. NO WAY he can claim those as his….

    • Joseph Philbert

I am waiting for the fanpage to implode and for him to deny… as per the usual script.

      • C Sab

        Same routine, different fauxtographer.

    • C Sab

Those will be gone soon too.

      • Just a Girl

        Yep, they are gone!

        • C Sab

Lol thought so. Guess he isn’t feeling so cocky now.

  • CrackerJacker

    Atlanta is CURSED!

  • C Sab

They also has a second photography Page called Scales Photography. Logo uses the same scales image, can’t be a coincidence.

  • MLee Kneer

Check out employment according to linkedin

    • Joseph Philbert

      500+ connections …smh

    • C Sab

Let’s see how many he has after they all find out the truth about him.

    • Joel

Lol….I see your Candy Crush Saga addiction there :P, I would be highly suspicious of any of those credentials.

  • Just a Girl

haha! Hes claiming he never represented the Templates as his own and that he didn’t realize they would stick once he put his own photos in there AND that the website is unfinished. Who builds/starts a website and never goes back to look at the layout once its built! Good Lord!

    • captain-confuzzled

and yet, he sends people to his website for “samples of his work”

      • Just a Girl

So, he claims to have to slow of an internet connection to put his own work on there BUT doesn’t it take a decent internet connection to build a website in the first place?

        • C Sab

He can’t even lie worth a shit. Pathetic. Not that he’d be any less of a pussy even if he could lie like a pro.

          • Just a Girl

Bothers me alot when there are kids involved… Even if they didnt take the photos of the kids, they are presenting themselves as having done so which means some unsuspecting parent is gonna trust him.

          • C Sab

Yup and they’re gonna get shit.

        • Joseph Philbert

Thats a new excuse … he made PS history.

        • doncalifornia

Not only that he has multiple web pages, multiple companies, multiple facebook pages, instagram, AND a youtube account just dripping with videos, and he claims he has a lousy internet connection so he couldn’t get around to deleting the wix template photos. LOL LOL LOL!!!

  • captain-confuzzled

why is it that all these photo stealers seem to have multiple business?

    • Joel

WOOOOOOOW, who the hell sneaks behind someones back to take pictures of their kids…that shit is creepy right there!

    • Cinobite

See, now I’m a narcissistic sociopath with creative tendencies and my company has a number of services run as separate businesses (all under one company name… like brands, if you will). I’m just waiting for the day when I decide to steal some photos to use lol

It’s extremely good business practice to have multiple “arms” and investments and not put all of your eggs in one basket. But, I think these people just hear how business works, but they don’t KNOW how business works

  • Joseph Philbert

    Holy removal of images batman…

    • Just a Girl

BOY WIX sure does supply alot of images to use on Facebook! *wink* what a sleaze bag!

  • Justin Case

from his ‘Bio’ “With almost a decade of experience in photography and graphic design, Kym (Member PPA) is our principal photographer.”

I checked the PPA website to report him. He is not listed under his name or Kym Trice Photography or Scales Photography, or by his address.

    • C Sab

Lol maybe tell them he’s advertising himself as a member.

    • Joseph Philbert

Trust me he is NOT a PPA member.

      • Justin Case

Just sent PPA his contact info and link to ‘Bio’ page and here.

    • Michael Goolsby

Good work investigating this part of it, Justin. I don’t know what recourse PPA has for this sort of thing, but at least his lie gets to become public here.

Kym is answering now. He ain’t been caught, they were included in the template. Hahahahahahahaha. If you live in Atlanta, you may want to road trip to a real photographer. This is getting silly.

    • Joseph Philbert

      SURE … SURE … LOL

    • Michael Goolsby

So the senior pics on Wix are the same as his flyer with his name and logo, and yet he has ‘no idea’? This reminds me of the bit where Chris Rock talks about how some men handle getting caught in bed doing in the middle of the act with another woman and then, standing there naked telling their wife “It wasn’t me”. We know how stupid he is, but how stupid does he really think WE are?

    • Joseph Philbert

      HAAHAHHAHAHAHAAHHAH!

    • Joseph Philbert

Did he block you … he blocked me 😀

  • roadtrips

Can someone explain the scale of justice logo? Was he begging to get caught?

  • Justin Case

Denial: √. Deleting images: √. Blaming free website template: √. “haven’t even finished the building and designing of the site yet”: – that’s a new one for me, but √.

      “I’m a victim”

      • Justin Case

        right, that’s it!

No wait, I’m getting my lawyer and suing all of you!

      • Justin Case

        …that’s coming for SURE.

        • C Sab

and as always I’ll say to him to bring it on.

    • Dem

      -Jesus
-Deflecting, got to find a new focal point for others to focus on

    • Cinobite

Hasn’t finished making the website yet everything points to it being made in 2013. As someone who also does webdesign, you don’t release an unfinished website.

    • OH! Maybe he’ll resurrect one of my favorites.

“It’s not called stealing bro, it’s call business!”

    • Big Bhad Wolf

You forgot “my intern/web master/employee/publicist” did it.”

  • Michael Goolsby

As an ATL photographer, this is the kind of crap I have to put with all the time. The city is full of assholes, all trying to con the public that they are real professionals when they are actually just lying pieces of shit that have no respect for the people who put their trust into them. I’m starting to loose count of all the brides and couples I hear about (and from) in Atlanta whose photographer disappeared on them after paying a deposit, failed to show up for their shoot, delivered lousy pictures that didn’t live up to their examples, or who just flat out didn’t deliver anything at all. And i get upset because that sort of thing just makes it harder for legitimate pros to make a good living.

I understand that this douche-with-a-Rebel had the opportunity to make things right before becoming famous at a photostealer, but arrogantly refused. He has no excuse whatsoever. He put his watermark on stolen pics, posted Wix and other stock pix on other sites, and created a huge online presence representing himself as something he definitely is not. In fact, the difference between the stolen stuff and his own stuff is one of the widest I’ve seen. And yet, unlike some of our other photo thieves who only charge $200 for a wedding, he rates begin at TWO THOUSAND and up to nearly five. I cannot imagine what horrendous experience awaits the unfortunate couple who lay out that kind of cash expecting top quality and end up getting utter garbage.

As usual, it is no surprise to see that his deceptions are not exclusive to photography.

What’s really pathetic, too, is that the fake stuff is STILL up.

His name should be repeated often for the search engines to help prevent new victims. Indeed, as one of his previous victims stated: KYM D. TRICE aks SCALES PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

    • Joel

This is just crazy, its just one after the next, Atlanta, Atlanta, Atlanta, Atlanta. I feel for the legitimate Photographers over there. Why are their so many of these fauxtographers coming from over there?

      • Cinobite

I think PS gets tipped off so you’ll probably find that it’s someone in Atlanta who keeps finding them and passing the details on. This happens EVERYWHERE

    • Justin Case

Really, Michael, I feel for you. I really hope the media in your area picks up on this…it’s nearly epidemic! All I can say is, you have plenty of reasons to price yourself high, and if anyone questions your motives, just point to your competition.

      • Tipster

Michael, I sent a tip to one of the newstations and she emailed me back wanting more information. You should contact her being from that area.

Thank you. I will call tmrw!!

      • Michael Goolsby

Thanks JC! We actually are looking to get out of Georgia soon.

    • Justin Case

In fact, since the vast majority of these images are stock or ‘template’ images, it’s the local Atlanta photographers who are most victimized by Kym Trice Photography.

I almost feel bad for these pathetic people who get caught on here when I see how sad most of their images are. But then the lying and the denial and the blaming starts and the bile just rises in my belly.

It hurts us all, and we need to continue policing this industry ourselves since people like Kym D. Trice seem to proliferate thanks to the ease of free websites on the internet.

      • C Sab

And easily fooled people who will also blindly defend them even when we prove to them that their “photographer” is a piece of shit.

      • Joel

Agree, this also seems to be the only way to sometimes get people to take down some of the stolen images. Like the screen cap image of the review earlier where someone stated that they kept trying and trying to get the photos of their kids taken down, yet he just refused to do it, until now.

  • Joseph Philbert
  • Just a Girl
  • Michael Goolsby

Thanks to Joshua for providing one of the better laughs about this guy:

“He told me it was just a few wix template pictures, he takes his pictures, he dared me to report him, then he called me a clown.”

    • Joseph Philbert

Then he gets called out and starts cleaning up.
      Classic…

      • CrackerJacker

Maybe he just needed a little impetus to start Spring cleaning those template images! LOL!

        • Joseph Philbert

Guess his internet access got faster out of the blue 😛

          • The whole “slow internet” thing really didn’t wash anyways … websized images at less than 1MB each? We used to do this shit on 33.k modems and I love how his connection wasn;t fast enough to clean up his site but it was fast enough to copy the wix images to other platforms like facebook …

          • Cinobite

And to run a photography business on a connection that is “too slow” is… impossible. I uploaded 4GB of client images this weekend and I only had one job 😛 I used to have to do it over night while my connection was uncapped on ADSL. Then I had to get fiber

    • C Sab

lol His high and mighty attitude just makes him look like even more of a fool.

  • doncalifornia

A year ago he was profiled as “Single Man of the Month” in Essence magazine (Atlanta?). He is a “legal analyst”. But I notice the photographer who took his shots for the magazine, Allen Cooley, follows Kym on instagram and vice versa. Kym did a shout out to Cooley saying it would be cool to work with him some day on Cooley’s side of the camera. I’m pretty sure that won’t be happening now, lol.

    • C Sab

lol I can see why he’s single.

  • Joseph Philbert

I wonder how wix images got on Instagram smh

    • doncalifornia

yeah exactly I keep asking him, if the error was leaving wix template photos up, how did all these photos get on to facebook and instagram and into his videos too?? LOL

The woman in the red dress at 34 secs still has a watermark on the photo.

      • doncalifornia

The woman at 0:26-0:29 is by photographer Linus Lohoff. Kym seems to have put this photo on every one of his platforms, facebook, instagram, wix page, even one of the pages of those side companies. And here too. Funny. Yeah, these were all just mistakenly left in the wix template, lol.

      • OH GOD!!! 3:39 … dude … all types of wrong here and I’m not talking about the model!

Hey rebel is a good camera… Once u know how to use it

      • Not so worried about the Rebel as I am by the Kit lens. Also, is that an old manual only Vivitar he has on the shoe?

        • C’mon guys, let’s not start automatically associating basic kit with talent level.. that’s beneath us. I know for a fact I could outshoot many many people who own better kit than me if I only had what he’s carrying. Just saying…
Having said that… it’s rare that one of these thieves has better than average kit, that’s true!

          • True: skill trumps gear.
My question about the Vivtar flash was really just out of curiosity.

  • MPR1776

      • This one deserves to be printed and on my wall. Just sayin’

    • doncalifornia

This one is on basically ALL his pages. If there is any one photo proving this guy is being deliberately fraudulent, it’s this one. It’s on his instagram, both personal facebook pages, his facebook business page, his wix site, and even in his youtube video. It’s not a stock image and was not in the wix template. It belongs to a really good fashion photographer, and Kym decided to pretend it was his.

    http://www.wix.com/website-template/view/html/760?originUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wix.com%2Fwebsite%2Ftemplates%2Fhtml%2Fphotography%2F5&bookName=create-master-sort-170214&galleryDocIndex=1&category=photography

    • Photo Stealers

It doesn’t appear that ALL unknown sources are in the wix. Some are (usually the ones with names, i.e. Flower, Disco etc). Some are not and are probably yanked from Google Image.

    • Michael Goolsby

The bigger problem, though, is that pictures fron Wix appeared on his other non-Wix sites, such as wedding.com. And that shows clear and undeniable intent.

      • Cinobite

        Absolutely!

    • Joseph Philbert

We know about wix default template images it uses to show how a theme will look … That is still not an excuse. He knows better decent minded artists know better and have this silly thing called pride that would make us sick to our stomach to use some else pic and say/imply it’s our creation.

      • Cinobite

Oh dear god don’t misunderstand me 😛 The guy’s a complete tool and IS actively using those template photos as samples of his work. I was just saying – being a lazy so and so myself – that he may well have just upped the site and left the template images. But as we all have seen, he’s used them on facebook, instagram etc and also has a shady past of deceiving people.

Don’t for a minute think that I was defending him lols

  • Michael Goolsby

    Great work! Thanks!

  • Michael Goolsby

I think that one of the thinks that chaps my butt about so many of these posers is the hyperbole that is used to sell themselves. Granted, huperbole is a regrettable reality in the commercial world, but it just seems cheapened all the more when assisted by outright stolen photography. (I am regarding ANY photograph not taken by the photographer as “stolen” whenever it is used to represent that photographer who had no part in its creation, regardless of free use, licensing, templates, etc.)

This fauxtog admitted that he has only worked but a SINGLE wedding, and even then only as a sevond shooter. And yet hr does not possess the restraint to say the following in his wedding.com ad:
“It’s not just the quality of our work that sets Kym Trice Pho
tography apart from other photography studios. It’s also the diversity, creativity and style that is visible in each and every one of our photographs.”

Large balls or small scruples. Consideting the quality of his real work, along with the fsct that he is offering packages to brides costing up to five grand, I’m inclined to say the latter.

I work hard and treat all my clients honestly with the goal that I can feel good about what I do. Having to share the word “photographer” with someone imposing such outright deception on unsuspecting clients such as this guy is doing just makes me feel dirty by mere association..

    • Rob

Honesty isn’t only about feeling good, it’s about covering your ass by not promising on what you can’t deliver. I’m honest with the people I work with because it’s the best way to manage expectations. If they feel I’m not up to the job then not doing the job is the best outcome, either I need to get better or the client has too high an expectation.

  • Michael Goolsby

I am glad to see that Kym has cleared out the Wix page pretty thoroughly. Of course, the other Wix page and the wedding.com stuff is still there, but it’s still early.

In an earlier post, I commented how faux hyperbole cheapens the whole experience of marketing for me. Well, I decided to do a quick search of Kym’s favorite phrase:

“Photography is a creative art, which nourishes with each photograph that you click. While some photographers understand photography as a medium of communication, presentation of reality, others describe the photography in terms of expression.”

Funny thing is, the search practically brought back the whole phonebook! Countless photographers have copied this phrase verbatim. The public can be forgiven if they loose faith in the whole industry.

    • Maybe that’s a great source for us to find more PhotoStealers. If you’re willing to plagiarize, you’re not far from stealing images. *breaks out the shovel*

  • Holy crap.. total awesomeness even though I’m wary about the legality of that.. but still, get that word out there! 🙂

  • Rick James

Yes this one is starting to fix some stuff also… Hell some people try so hard to make it they make a bad choice… As long as they fix it that’s good in my book not like every person reading hasn’t made bad decisions lol lol lol

    • Joseph Philbert

I dont mind them fixing it … but dont lie about it.

    • Joel

Read further down, you will see multiple business reviews of how he tried or has scammed other people in his past businesses.

      • C Sab

Yeah I’m willing to bet it was 100000% intentional.

    • Big Bhad Wolf

WHOOPS! I just walked into a store today and happened to like something so much I took it home with me! SORRY! JUST A MISTAKE! LOL LOL LOL!!

  • TerminatahX

Wow! As a photog myself, I can’t fathom why any self-respecting photographer would want to use another’s work for any reason. Even when my work was bad, I still had pride in it because it was mine and represented a point in my journey/progression as a photographer. I have no sympathy for Kym Trice, he represents what all that is bad about photographers, nothing good. And he’s not “fixing” anything. Fixing is coming clean to your peers and the people/sources from which you stole their content.

  • Might I make a suggestion that contact be made with Wix suggesting they put huge watermarks over their “placeholder”
Images making it clear they are not the photographers own images!?
This would alleviate many of the issues (and fun!) we have.
It’d be difficult for these thieves to claim them as their own with big “this is a Wix.com placeholder image” on all the images.
Methinks they won’t do that because it makes the websites not as “nice”.

    • Justin Case

It’s a nice idea, but having tried to navigate through WIX’s ‘terms of use’ all I can say is they do everything to protect their ass, and they seem to have no interest in how you use their service as long as they aren’t held responsible.

I’m more disappointed in PPA. the ‘Bio’ page still claims he is a member, and that really makes me think that membership requirements are likely simply being able to pay the dues. To paraphrase Groucho Marx, I wouldn’t want to belong to any club that would have this guy as a member.

      • Yeah, I figure, but it might be worth someone with gravitas cough “Cory Ann” cough

      • Joseph Philbert

Is he really a member or like many others is he lying

        • Justin Case

Like you, I figured he was lying, but since it has been brought to PPA’s attention and it is still on his website, I can draw no other conclusion.

      • Joel A

I was really comparing the different organizations trying to decide which to join. And the more I looked at PPA, the more I didn’t like it. Sure it has its pluses for some photographers, but I dont like how just anyone can join and be a member by paying.

ASMP is the one that has caught my eye the best. They require 3 years active professionally, and a sponsorship from current ASMP members to join them. But there is also a list of benefits I love from ASMP, They are also more informative on the business side of things.

    • Joseph Philbert

We can all email WIX the link to this site … It was done to some thief before and WIX removed the site.

  • Justin Case

well, someone was paying attention. Kym Trice has cleaned up his website, mostly just reacting to what has been posted here. He is still a hack, but at least that’s more clear now that he’s removed other peoples images and words.

Still, I thought this was pretty funny:

“All photographs, text and html coding appearing in the
Kym Trice Photography site are the exclusive intellectual property of
Kym Trice and are protected under United States and international
    copyright laws.”

(Uh, right. On a WIX site, he is claiming html is HIS intellectual property)

“No images are within Public Domain. Use of any image as the basis for
another photographic concept or illustration is a violation of
    copyright.”

(Putting aside the fact that there is nothing at all original on his website, and I doubt anyone wants to copy his ‘style,’ one might want to point out that it is not possible to copyright a concept or an idea. Duhh)

    • Justin Case

(maybe Jackson Pollock’s descendents should look into this ‘infringement’

  • Anisha Ward

Wow! This does not surprise me at ALL! I am currently suing him about stealing MY young sons photos. He had been using them for over a year as marketing his children photos WITHOUT my permission. I did my research and it states they do not need parental permission if they were taken in a public place. I do not live on PUBLIC property. He took the photos of them at MY home while we had a scheduled photo for my business. LIED and said he took them as a GIFT for ME and used them BEHIND my back and REFUSED to take them down because I would not date him ROMANTICALLY! This happened in 2012 when he stole their photos, I just now have a court date.

    • Michael Goolsby

Let us know how it goes. I live in Atlanta and wouldn’t mind seeing this case in action. If you have no objection, feel free to send over the date and I’ll try to be there.

      • Joseph Philbert

Wish they allowed recording devices LOL

    • Joseph Philbert

Well here is more evidence for you 🙂

    • Justin Case

Again, I would most certainly send a message to PPA. If they really ARE a professional organization and he is claiming membership (as it STILL states on his ‘Bio’ page) then they should certainly do something about such unprofessional behavior.
      https://www.ppa.com/about/ContactUs.cfm?navItemNumber=543

      • Joseph Philbert

I am pretty sure he has never even been a past member of the PPA. Fraud all the way.
